I’ve just picked the game up and singleplayer’s just about all I’ve done so far while waiting on a friend of mine to get it. Trying to outmaneuver myself when I know what I’m planning to do 3 steps from now is a struggle that’s created some genuinely fun fights against myself.
Honestly i like that this is an honest view of the game. Most people play it for a while before they give a review, but giving a noob's perspective really shows some genuine opinion of the game so far. I like that!
A couple of corrections! -Grab is not frame 1! And there are more counters to grab than you think: every character has specific options that are grab invulnerable. On top of that, you can jump or roll to avoid a grab, as well. When you’re in grab range, it becomes a rock, paper, scissors match of whether or not you will grab, evade (using a grab invulnerable option), or attack with a fast attack. Grab beats attack, evade beats grab, and attack beats evade -There is a third option when you’re knocked down! If you Hold while downed, your character will stay grounded for one extra turn. This can be used to avoid some frame traps that characters have, but can be risky if they predict it and use an option that hits grounded opponents -DI means “Directional Influence”, because you’re influencing your direction, but not choosing where you’ll be sent flying. Certain moves can be used to mix up the opponent’s DI, as well, putting them in a worse position if guessed correctly
after playing more of the game i have found these out naturally! next video i make ill try and elaborate on these points haha theres a reason its titled Your Only Move Is Hustle From A Noobs Perspective.
@@antornth713 I figured you would have! These aren't incredibly complex tips, but I was hoping they'd help newbies out- Glad you're enjoying the game, and here's hoping you continue to find some success, with your channel!
@@meowjakk if you and the opponent are next to each other there are really 3 options; grab, evade, and do a quick attack. you can grab somebody who tries attacking which deals damage, you can evade a grab which gives you advantage for the next turn, or you can attack somebody who tries evading, dealing damage.
This really does seem like a great game and this style of content really suits you! It's honestly great to see you still adapting and evolving, Thanks for all the laughs and keep it up! We're all here for you!
fun fact: being in a combo reduces the damage dealt to you as you keep getting hit. burst, however, resets the opponent's combo meter, which allows his attacks to deal full damage to you. it means that having your burst parried not only gives you a frame disadvantage, but also increases the damage dealt to you
Thanks for the walkthrough, I’ve been thinking of getting the game, but saw the videos of better players and thought it wasn’t for me. The way you simplified the gameplay really helped. And I would love it if you kept making videos like this. Keep up the good work.
Cool video. I know, that its not a guide, but I want to add some info about grab - actualy, every character has ability to counter grab(Confusing touch, uppercut, spot dodge and Boundries check). Also u can grab ur opp, only if u both on land or in air, so jump/dash also can help
As a YOMI player myself, there is one alternative to grabbing a grab to avoid getting grabbed. The first is dodging, which is a fairly safe move given the opponent has a relatively slow attack pattern. The second is jumping, which is a high-risk high-reward move that will let you have MASSIVE frame advantage but HEAVILY punish you for getting hit.
as a yomi hustle player, i gotta say i love it when cowboy hustles all over the place and also just good video man, i recommend checking out the mods even solo, thats why i have 50+ hours on SOLO ALONE.
Me and my friend got this game and it is nothing short of awesome. Especially the modded characters the ending fights are so cool and really no fight ends the same and it’s never over until it says it’s over cause you can get some of the craziest comebacks
This is kinda funny to see after more info about Street Fighter 6 and MK12 comes out and it turns out that MK12 is stiff as hell and trying to do a THIRD fucking reboot because they have no clue what to do with the story, and SF6 came out with a playstyle mode so slick and well made that it's letting first time players have close matches where they feel like they're fully in control of their character with Modern mode (and an entirely DIFFERENT moveset to their Classic mode, too).
The levels of confusing bullshit that can arise from this game go: 1. Watching a replay 2. Playing the game 3. Fighting Wizard 4. Play-by-Play explaining every move and why each player made it 5. _Whatever the hell Robot is doing in the corner over there_
btw grab is 3 frames and can be dodged and punished by jumping moves(cowboy dash, ninjas dropkick, jump, etc.) or spot dodging as cowboy, if you predict the grab these will be better as teching the grab(grabbing at the same time) will not result in you getting a punish, ofc trying to tech is safer as it also covers the opponent attacking but still keep this in mind. also DI is directional influence not input!
So Smash Bros but extremely complicated, rage inducing, and has a skill ceiling that could circle the moon and back? *THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!*
I am kind of a DI nerd so i feel an obligation to talk about it. The video implies DI affects the knockback of the move you just got hit by. It only affects the knockback of moves you get hit by _after_ setting it and locking in. This means that to have good DI you have to be constantly checking your opponent's options and guessing what they will use to get yourself into a position where the only options they have lead to bad combos or into a position where they have to guess your DI or drop the combo. A great simple example of this is ninja in the air, where DI down is good against kick, unless you are really high up, but is really bad against punch; vice-versa DI up is really good against punch and forces them to use an air option or drop even without combo scaling, but is really REALLY bad against kick.
4:35 note that a grab actually takes 3 frames before it has an active hitbox, but another grab can counter it even if started a frame or two late. This just means that OP modded characters with 1 or 2 frame moves can beat a grab.
To my immense frustration at times, yes, it does, alongside ground grab failing against airborne targets, double jump is just straight up immune to air grab for a brief window(though probably not command grabs like Lasso)
Based Yomi Hustle gameplay, looking forward to seeing the Robo Deep dive, Wanna be able to feel the Bass in those double Grab combos through my SKULL >:D
Yeah, I wouldn't play this, but it does actually seem a really good game. I've always liked how passionate you are for the games you like to play, and even though your viewers wouldn't have as much of an interest as you, don't let that deter you from doing your own thing. Go Ant!!!
mods are so common place in the community that you can download a char you like and most of the time the people you fight will have them aswell, letting you can pick them. Also some of the modded chars have some super good animations and make the fights look like 50x cooler
as ninja u can counter grab with uppercut, also idk about other characters but ninjas hustle puts him in chuk stance with no frame penalty so pretty useful
Very accurate description of this game. I've played five matches after fooling around in singleplayer. My latest match was my first win, where I combo'd the shit out of a guy. This game is fun as fuck.

Correction, there is another counter to grab. Cowboys can use a spot dodge to avoid a grab, but all characters can simply move backwards. Also, if you counter a move as cowboy, and are within range to pommel strike them- but the opponent can whiff, go with the pommel strike. No character in the game can counter a pommel strike out of a whiff cancel.
