I noticed an option in the steam version thay says "Chess clock" and I hope this becomes standard. Give each player 5 seconds per turn, and then any extra time comes from a finite time pool (or maybe it's dependant on total game time so you're not both screwed in the endgame). This means you can think a lot in neutral, but then you should hurry up on your combos a little bit so your opponent isn't bored waiting you to find what's optimal.
How the hell is this your first video? The pacing, the humor, the editing, it's all absolutely on point. I watched this and literally went and bought the game immediately.
It's worth mentioning that the cowboy's gun throw is more useful than just a meme option. If your opponent is close enough and you think they're going to successfully parry your bullet, throwing your gun takes long enough that they'll lose their block before they get hit. There's a few moves like that in the game, and it's always extremely satisfying correctly reading a block with them.
When out of ammo, Gun toss can also be a good last ditch combo extender, as his only consistently adjustable move. (Lightning blade only has adjustability the first time you use it in sequence.) It always knocks in with set knockback making tp extensions easy. Was an essential part of my first lab zero to death.
Getting a hit stun on the enemy while they’re in the corner allows for a free frame where you can throw his gun upwards, and follow up with a slice; while you combo him in the corner the gun will continue to bounce giving you more damage, keeping them low in the corner and extending your combo. Positioning has to be right but I pulled this off the other day. Favorite thing about this game is being able to find small things like that.

I bought the game immediately after watching this, and it's a lot more fun than i thought. I didn't expect the implication of it being a turn based fighting game meant you can casually chat while beating each other up lmao I've met people in multiplayer that would discuss certain moves and its mechanics, basically educating me on the game right in the middle of a fight, it was nice
12:15 This reminded me of one of my favourite character designs EVER in the game _Enter The Gungeon:_ a gunsmith wizard. If you reload his revolver on an empty cylinder, he throws it at the enemy and pulls a new one out of his magic holster.

Idk) Edit: that was a _deep cut_ "hard reads" joke holy shit lol
Theres this point in one of my last matches where I was fighting a wizard and I'd get some good damage in, then just be on the defensive or get combo'd for like 5 minutes- and then there was the fire read. I had hitboxes on, timed the jump perfectly- parried a water blast and domed them with a dropkick that sailed gracefully past the end of the firewalls hitbox. While not the most impressive play it really set the tone for what you can do in it for me
Oh. This is your first video? Good shit. Jokes were enjoyable and well paced, and the editing wasn't overdone and made things easy enough to follow. The game's visual design doesn't work in your favor though unfortunately, but that's not an issue with the video per say. Subbed for the ride.
playing this game in a vc with friends is a blast, being able to hear the audible groans of pain when you start comboing you friend and then having them cuss you out is pricless
I remember thinking this was gonna be a fighting game like a 2d fighter then I saw that large menu thinking it was the training or something then I realized that’s how the game was played may try playing this more and try learning fighters. I’ve always tried to get in to 2d fighters cause I like dragon ball and db fighters is fire so this inspired me
It's so accessible I forsee YOMI-likes to vary things up with things like different visuals (e.g. Anime sprites), game modes like shorter health and tag-ins (e.g. MvC or DBFZ style), or even branching to other genres like a Fighter RPG with this foresight system.
So basically when you want to play those flashy pivot animations from way back when but don't want all the mechanical garbage you'd think playing such a thing would regular, that's pretty cool actually, I already like Smash Bros so I'm usually pretty open to trying out fighting games that mix up the formula in ways that "dumb" it down but still allow for all the cool fighting game stuff to occur regardless, not that it hasn't stopped me from playing traditional fighting games and flailing around mashing buttons and such, so thank you for bringing this to my attention!
I love watching fighting games but struggle with playing them. I get so overwhelmed with all the terminology, mechanics, frame data etc. that experienced fighting game players (and the tutorial) urge me to learn if I want to have fun playing. The rounds feel like a final exam I'm not prepared for. And it's especially crushing when I've spent 2 days learning a combo but I can't use it because my opponent hit me with a TOD as soon as the round started. I hope whenever I get around to playing YOMI Hustle, it'll be different like you said.
You Know I Know You Know is the dumbest succinct way to describe that mind game, the core that defines a lot of weird minor games we as a people play, like Rock Paper Scissors
after watching this video i decied to double check yomi price i thought it was way more, your first rounds of playing nothing makes sesnce but after 2 or 3 you slowly learn and can start giving anyone a run for their money (besides robot mains fuckers) this video will most likely get a ton of players to pick up the game and show them it isn't that hard to hustle great job.
I have a bunch pf friends who LOVE fighting games but i grew up on platformers and sandbox games so i was (and am) entirely clueless and lost when it comes to fighting games. Even now with the ability to go and play fighting games i just never clicked with any of them and id constantly get smoked without even knowing why. The problems you described at the beginning of the video for new fighting game players almost perfectly describes me and the way you explained this game makes me want to try and play it with my friends who actually know how to play fighting games so i can finally see what all the hype is abt :) Thanks for the recommendation 👍
6:18 I personally like my games being 5 second turn and with no prediction visuals... Its my solution for that time issue. In games like Chess, or Shogi, I also prefer to play with a timer of 5 minutes and 8 seconds of additional time per move. I do not have much time to play games in a day, so I love the inclusion of these gameplay settings. I used my setup to introduce the game to my friends. Whenever they're not around, I played with anyone who stuck with me with the settings in place. Getting good at it is about memorizing cause and effect. I enjoyed this game so much for allowing me to cut down the time between turns. I love your video on this topic so far, I appreciate it a lot. I hope more people gets to play this hidden gem.
I have played toribash for over 300 hours, this game is a lot like it but immediately accessible to everyone because it’s a 2D space and you don’t need to know physics too much, good video.
been playing since like august, and the game is amazing. nothing. and i mean nothing can replicate the dopamine you get from winning a hard fought match in yomi. this is just as much a strategy game as it is a fighting game. the game looks awesome, and god watching the full replay of the fight at the end is so fun. showing you what it all looked like. you get your own stick figure fight animation every game.
The turn-based lock-in system reminds me of Frozen Synapse, which is my favorite tactics game of all time. The sequel wasn't that great, but the first one is a masterpiece. You should check it out if you haven't heard of it before.
Loved this video! Definitely going to convince my friends to try this game with me! One fighting game that is also super easy to get into and fun to play with friends is, Divekick. Easy to pick for basically anyone and there are a decent range of of characters to pick from! That could be a game you cover if you're doing a series on fighting games! Thanks for the video, hope you upload more!
1. I'm trying to get into fight games via Skullgirls and… yeah the first minutes describe well the experience xd I get the mechanics, I completed most of the story modes and all but I can't even complete one wave of survival of arcade mode or do any combos because of the sheer speed to make them… maybe that's why this game called my attention (and because it looks cool + remembers me to the stickman videos I saw as a kid) 2. 11:31 a revolver, a katana and a whip, this guy is like everything I thought was cool at some point of my life(?

watched this and though "wow a another fighting game video essayist that i enjoy lets check their. 119 subs? one video? this level of quality?" please make more content holy shit your good at this.
THANK YOU FOR SHOUTING OUT MY DELINQUENT MOD and giving kannon some screen time this video is so good tutorial wise
really good first video!! always nice being brought to new video making peoples
As someone who plays fighting games I can confirm that my lust for blood only rises with every moment I still live, never to be satisfied.
Great video
Thank you for making this video, I just like probably many ppl have seen this game circulating to life recently & this was by far the best "advertisement" I could've asked for. Gonna download it rn & instant sub & bell icon my good man~
This is some crazy high quality for a first video. big ups
Ty for talking about gun throw. It is the sole reason I get up in the morning
I love the gunslinger gun throw trope. It's one of my favorite details from Enter the Gungeon.
I bought the game immediately after watching this, and it's a lot more fun than i thought. I didn't expect the implication of it being a turn based fighting game meant you can casually chat while beating each other up lmao
I've met people in multiplayer that would discuss certain moves and its mechanics, basically educating me on the game right in the middle of a fight, it was nice
12:15
This reminded me of one of my favourite character designs EVER in the game _Enter The Gungeon:_ a gunsmith wizard. If you reload his revolver on an empty cylinder, he throws it at the enemy and pulls a new one out of his magic holster.
So I clicked on the video because I was bored and the thumbnail looks cool and after like 7 minutes I was like wow this video is really wel made let me check what other things he has videos on and then I found out this is your first so I just want to say I hope you will make more videos
My friend I am very happy you made the decision to make this. Hope you keep it up :)
Wow great vid! Def gonna check your other content, you need more subs
Edit, this is your only vid so I’ll just subscribe lol
Man, I can't believe it's your first video. It's very good, I hope you will keep it up. Also thanks for showing this game.
Playing this game single player is like using an animation program almost, just meticulously crafting every move to end up with a cool replay
Great video bro!
If anyone is on the fence, DEFINITELY try this game. It's so much fun and it has this way of making you feel like you're awesome at the game even when you definitely aren't even close (I suppose that means it's intuitive? Idk)
Edit: that was a _deep cut_ "hard reads" joke holy shit lol
I'm gonna send this video to my friends to try to get them to play the game, Fantastic video!
This is such a great introduction for this game!
This is absolutely incredible first video, the explanation of the game and showing how great and interesting it is. Solid stuff.
Love the info on what everything does, as a fighting game lover that absolutely sucks at all of them it was very informative :')
As someone in 4 years of fighting game pipeline, I love this video!
Wait, this is your first video?
Awesome! It’s incredibly well written and engaging! (As someone who watched dozens of these FG commentary videos)
I felt incredibly called out by the intro, bought and wishlisted it. Shoutout IVYSLY
If this was your first video REALLY ? You've got a career ahead of you man ! GREAT video ! and i will check out YOMI hustle
playing this game in a vc with friends is a blast, being able to hear the audible groans of pain when you start comboing you friend and then having them cuss you out is pricless
I just rolled credits on Hi-Fi Rush, so that little quick time event bit @ 4:33 made me smile!

Great video, and particularly funny bit at 4:35, made me laugh.
Holy shit this is your first video, nice!
It's partially the voice and partially the analysis itself that makes it feel like I'm learning a lesson in strategy from Shikamaru
I was literally in the process of bringing up toribash when he mentioned it😂hell yeah glad people still remember that game
Congrats bro, you made it to the algorithm!
This is literally like being able to play an old RHG animation.
This has been one of the most enjoyable TH-cam videos ive seen in ages, and it's your first upload. Incredible job, Incredible game.
Excellent video! It's hard to believe that this is your first, as the quality is stellar (certainly better than my first).
Dangit, i shouldn't have watched this video right before going to bed. Now i want to play it.
I've wanted to see a game like this for a long time! Thank you for informing us about this ^^
Great video you might have gave me a new addiction
this video is both informative and an immense knee slapper. Bravo.
I am the same as you and trust me
Yomi hustle is my favourite fighting game rn
This is such a good video. Thank you for making it.
In Japanese, the word “yomi” has different meanings. The main meaning is “knowing the mind of your opponent”. I think its pretty cool.
You Know I Know You Know is the dumbest succinct way to describe that mind game, the core that defines a lot of weird minor games we as a people play, like Rock Paper Scissors
Just picked the game up not long ago but it was nice to get a more in depth explanation from someone experience. appreciate the comedy too!
5:13 orb is op, having a spare damage drone + a get out of jail free card in one is very powerful
Not even spare damage, but actual combo stunlocking and stuff. Absolutely integral to fuckin stuff up.
after watching this video i decied to double check yomi price i thought it was way more, your first rounds of playing nothing makes sesnce but after 2 or 3 you slowly learn and can start giving anyone a run for their money (besides robot mains fuckers) this video will most likely get a ton of players to pick up the game and show them it isn't that hard to hustle great job.
I absolutely loved the video, the quality of it is amazing and the humor is to. I wish you luck on future endeavors on this channel
The problems you described at the beginning of the video for new fighting game players almost perfectly describes me and the way you explained this game makes me want to try and play it with my friends who actually know how to play fighting games so i can finally see what all the hype is abt :)
Thanks for the recommendation 👍
1. I'm trying to get into fight games via Skullgirls and… yeah the first minutes describe well the experience xd I get the mechanics, I completed most of the story modes and all but I can't even complete one wave of survival of arcade mode or do any combos because of the sheer speed to make them… maybe that's why this game called my attention (and because it looks cool + remembers me to the stickman videos I saw as a kid)
2. 11:31 a revolver, a katana and a whip, this guy is like everything I thought was cool at some point of my life(?
Skullgirls is amazing, honestly my favorite fighting game _ever,_ but as a novice myself it can be grueling to learn lol. It's undoubtedly rewarding to learn/play and I wish you the best of luck learning it ^^ 🙏♥
)
Amazing first video!
this is a really good review for the game, 10/10 would watch again
Sometimes, this game is more like a 1v1 puzzle game than a fighting game
What some people dont take into mind on wizard is the fact that those projectiles can be used in a combo if set up just right, helping set up huge damage
Sick video G, liked it
Thank you for bringing this masterpiece to my attention am already in love with the game
13:27 "he uses an electric yoyo"
My Bridget main poisoned brain: 🧠 neuron activation 6_6
Glad to see i wasn't alone in noticing it was similar to TB.
Toribash player since 2009, was global rank 1 until the rework and steam integration years back.
Once you said cowboy gun throw I was like: hell yeah that’s my damn main right there. Because I always find something that counters something else so SATISFYING, but this is a game like toribash, hard but easy to execute moves once gotten use to the technical controls.
The way I see it: this is a co-op game where the objective is to make the coolest TAS combo video while under a strict deadline.
It's the only coping mechanism I have for this game, don't take it away from me.
This made me play YOMI Hustle and you should play it too
Oh I saw someone on discord playing this game a few weeks ago and I downloaded it planning to play it soon but I forgot. This video is awesome, I'm gonna give the game a try now. :D
didn't know I needed this, didn't know I'm an addict now, there are some screaming glaring problems given how only 2/3 of the (default) characters can truely infinite combo, but that doesn't stop me from loving the wizard and tossing everything I can out as smoke just to air bend it all around
This is a great video can’t wait to see what else you make in the future
You had me at "Toribash". The memories...
This is your first video?! And it’s this level of quality?!!! That deserves an immediate sub
