I always put a layer of newspaper on the floor where the wet wallpaper will fall - so much easier to clear it up and it won’t stick to the floor. Great work everyone!
Just a tip, anytime your pulling something down like those stairs onto grass or a surface that isn’t flat, lay a couple sheets of ply down next to it and smash it down on top of those sheets. Makes it way easier to shovel up into a barrow because you have a hard flat surface to run the shovel along 👍🏼
MDF is basically a sponge so not a great spot next to the toilet will absorb urine and water and swell with time. Plywood would be more suitable. You can clad it in some plastic/veneer to make it last longer. Nikki needs a ring!
agreed, wood isnt ideal, re-purposing offcut tiles would be much more classy, but you can aquaseal mdf and paint it with exterior wood paint so it will cope with the moisture. best option would have been chasing the pipe into the wall, thats probaby a stud wall anyway
Not sure on the boxing so close to the loo. Just seems like if there was distance between the boxing and the loo it would be better. I prefer nothing next to the loo. Though I can see its cosmetic reasons as pipes weren't lower in this case
10 years OMG😮It’s time to propose 🎉😂!!!And the wedding can take place in a newly renovated house!🎉 Great work! I hope u have decided to go for a skylight window in the utility room 😉😅
The garden could definitely host a wedding, that’s for sure! 😂 We can’t actually go for a Velux window in the Utility because we’re adding a dormer upstairs unfortunately! 😢
I’m really impressed with how well you and your team work together and how much you’ve achieved so far. I’ve commented before, but I’m reaching out now for some advice. My wife and I are currently renovating a house, and I must admit, it’s been a challenging process. At the start, it seemed like we were both equally invested, but as the project progressed, we realised that we don’t actually work well together. It turns out my wife wasn’t as interested as I originally thought, which has made things difficult. Looking back, I know I made some significant mistakes. The biggest one was not planning properly from the outset. I’ve learnt that planning is absolutely essential in a project like this, and had I known better, I would have taken charge of the planning myself, as I’m capable of doing most of the jobs. It would be incredibly helpful if you could share more about your approach to renovating. Perhaps you could even create a video explaining your methodology, as I’m sure it would be useful to others in a similar situation. I’m especially interested in how you organise everything, from start to finish. How do you plan out a renovation of this scale? How do you decide which tasks to tackle yourself and which to leave to the professionals? It would also be really helpful to know how many tradespeople you typically work with and, as a percentage, how much of the work you do yourself compared to what you outsource. Any advice you could offer would be much appreciated!
Hi Chris, thanks so much for reaching out and we’re really glad you’re finding our videos useful. We’re really sorry to hear about your situation- and that both people aren’t as interested as you originally thought. I think sometimes we all look at ourselves in the middle of a building site that we’re supposed to be ‘managing’ and think ‘what the hell am I doing here?’. It can all be very stressful and overwhelming and I can’t imagine any added pressure of travelling to full time jobs or kids to add into the mix. We can definitely try delve deeper into the behind the scenes of how we manage the renovations, but it’s super hard to capture all our moments (as ideas/plans and conversations often happen when the lights are out at 10pm! 😂 Send us a DM on Instagram with any specific questions/ what we’d do in your situation type stuff and we’d be happy to offer some advice. Thanks again for watching and best of luck ❤️
Chris, one thing I'm telling myself whilst doing my own project is, it has to look a lot worse first to look a lot better. It's sometimes overwhelming looking at a building site in your house but just keep at it and think of the end goal. Don't try doing everything yourself and end up burning yourself out. Good luck.
I say you guys should go for it. I have seen renovations make or break couples. The fact that you're both doing so great together, working it out through the stressful times, and not only doing one house, but potentially making a career out of flipping, I think you guys have what it takes to go the distance!
Great video guys, I would be cladding that boxing in tiles or some kind of plastic cladding. Just because unfortunately nasty stuff like piss will splash onto it and the MDF will just soak it all up and go disgusting. 🤢 You want to be able to wipe it down with some bathroom cleaner 😊 Just a thought… me and my partner are loving this series, keep up the great work x
Hi, new to this channel. It looks epic! I'm thinking of a basement build once all other work is completed! 🎉 Your brickwork is quite high at the back of the building. Games room, cinema, bar area etc. Good luck with your build. You'll get loads of new followers.
Great to see your new home evolving every week. You did a great job boxing in the bathroom pipes Nicky👍. Yes Harri needs to propse especially as you've been together for ten years, some marriages don't last that long(my son is one of them, divorcing after four years, its still going through(if you knew his soon to be ex wife you'd know why lol). I do by next ep. he will've proposed♥️😃. Have a great week. Stay safe🤗
Regarding the scrap metal, remember to remove all the brass fittings from the pipe and weigh it separately, otherwise they will down grade the whole batch. This way your get alot more money 💰 🤑
Another great video guy’s! Your making so much progress & it’s fantastic to be on this journey with you both. Nicky you said that you & Harri are the most inpatient people we’d ever meet & yet u’ve waited 10yrs for a proposal. I’d say that’s very patient!! It took my husband 5yrs to propose & I thought that was bad enough 😂😂 Seriously you are a lovely couple which I think I’ve said to you before in my comments. You work so well as a team, you clearly have fun together & I’m sure you have arguments from time to time like everyone but there’s so much love there you can see it. I think you definitely have the foundations(no pun intended) of a great marriage so "Harri" you most definitely! need to propose to Nicky. And I hope you get her a lovely sparkly ring to match her wonderful sparkling personality. Have a great week & I look forward to next Sunday’s video. xx
Great work guys, I love watching your videos and your enthusiams is infectious :). Aren't you afraid of thieves breaking and stealing your tools? I am a security engineer, breaking nowdays is a on a rise. With the project of this scale I would always advise to run alarm cables at the time of electrical rewire. You dont have to spend tons of money for big alarm system but with cables in place you can always expand later on. Simple panel+ keypad and you can even make it hybrid by adding some wireless detectors for tool shed.
Thanks for the heads up! We do already have cameras and multiple locks but we’re actually upgrading the system in November which is very exciting and just gives us even more security!
Tip with the scrap metal, divide it up in to smaller batches, stick it in a plastic box and leave it in the van for the runs to the tip. If you’re ever dumping materials that your recycling centre make you pay for, a nice box of copper cable and pipe as a bargaining chip has gotten me off of a fair few bills, probably more than I’d have been given from the scrap yard.
With the amount of physical work you are doing you should be seeing a chiropractor as a preventative measure. The way harri bends your destine for back problems.
Wow! I loved every minute of this, I was lost with you and slowly it all started to come together, well done both of you. Such hard work and the vision you have , I take my hat off to you
Loving your content guys, watched you in the old house and look forward to my Sunday mornings keeping up with you, I have been doing this with my husband fir 30 years, now on our final project...... Awh thanks for this Verity, a very nice thought for the future!! 30 years and the bug is still there? wow you guys have put in an absolute shift, you must be knackered 😦👏
Great progress guys. Couple of things. Make sure you cut all of the fittings off of the copper. Bare copper will be worth a lot more than if they weigh it all in as brazing. It’s worth hundreds of ££ so keep it all safe. A4 Metal Recycling is the place to take it. Also, you need to fill in a CIL form. I expect your architect has done that but it’s down to the homeowner to check it’s right or you will get clobbered.

I suggest harry changes the way he swings the sledgehammer to save energy and damage to his body. Pick the hammer up with your right hand just below the head and left hand at the bottom of the handle, then throw the head with the right hand and slide the right hand down the handle to meet your left hand on impact of the head. It makes the sledge much lighter to lift and saves so much energy and more power in the hit.

Then you could add an attic above the second level and add so much more value than just adding dormers to the existing structure which is already not easy or cheap. Remember cheaper doesnt mean easier or more value! It just means cheaper, thats it and nothing else. Also given the size of the property the extension is really small. If you extended along the length of the existing building not only would it be bigger it would flow more naturally towards the rest of the property. Dont underestimate the value of indoor/outdoor flow!
Honestly, we’ve thought of it and we’ve thought of a double story side extension- but money right now really isn’t available for all of that work. We don’t want to try running before we can walk, so wanted to just add a single story extension to dip our toe into the construction world.
I think upstairs was added later, which is why the stairs were shoe horned into the lounge, it’s a room in the roof, not a proper storey, and of that era likely no proper insulation, those rooms leak heat in the winter and are ovens in the summer, I doubt nowadays planning would permit such a large glazed area, but they have to work with what they’ve got.
Haha, thanks Robert! The extension is gonna roll around, next week we’ll be on the big machinery to really kick start the driveway as well- so some exciting times to come! 😅❤️
Great Video guys. Looking forward to seeing how much money you get back on the copper piping. As for Harri asking Nikki the big question. I'll just say Harri, you've got the follow the Beyonce Principle, and if you like it then you should have put a ring on it, oh oh oh!
Hello, quick question, how have you handled house insurance while doing the build? A lot of insurance companies I have found don’t like to provide any kind of insurance and I’m struggling to find one willing to do that.
Get a steamer to remove wallpaper, wagner steamer is around 160gbp and has multiple utilities, comes with wallpaper attachment. Wallpaper comes in one piece, both the top and bottom.
Get a pump sprayer for the wall paper removal. Like you use for spraying weeds, spray the wall let it soak and peel it all off nice and easy! 👌 great progress so far!

Your copper pipe must be seperated from any brass fittings or your just going to mixed metal price. If you also have a hot water cylinder remove the insolation and your going to get a good £600.
i would of recommended hiring a micro digger and tracked dumper to take out the back step as would of saved the back breaking work when i did my drive to get rid of the green waste i hired a grab lorry but im enjoying watching your refurbishment journey
Hi, Thanks for sharing the tips on DIY Kitchens and now Arkiplan, great help. I know it's a bit cheeky to ask but have you any tips on the best and cheapest supplier for Bathroom sets and house doors...many thanks john
Harri, dont think of it as "just" marrying the woman of your dreams that you've been with for 10 years, but as an opportunity to slap a ring on NICKY THE BRICKY! THE MYTH! THE LEGEND! THE BEST BRICKLAYER IN THE SOUTH! Don't use the song, tho. That were crap.
Hi guys. Really the highlights now of my Sunday! I have a quick question... Do you guys worry about asbestos when you do all the DIY. I looking at a bungalow in Kent and have been told it has asbestos.... Any insight much appreciated and keep up the great work.
We defo do worry about it - but usually we look it up before touching anything! If it’s likely asbestos - we won’t touch it! In an ideal world we would have an asbestos survey done
@@NickyandHarri ah that great to hear. At least you guys know what to look for... I'm not super sure what it looks like as it comes in different shapes and forms I think... So anytime I see dusst.... I get hyper worried lol. Maybe a survey will give me more confidence to get stuck in. Really love what you guys are doing! Family and friends have tried to talk us out of a bungalow purchase, but something about them right??? Once your in one... A 3 bed semi/teracced just simply won't do 😜

We’re getting one next week! Still means we have to lug it through to the front of the house though 😢
Hi guys love the video s you both work so hard have a lovely week 😊😊😊😊
Thanks so much Andrew, we’re glad you enjoyed the vid!! 😅
Your copper pipe must be seperated from any brass fittings or your just going to mixed metal price. If you also have a hot water cylinder remove the insolation and your going to get a good £600.
Very good to know!! Wow that’s actually quite a lot!
Look at the zinsser diff and the paper tiger, makes wall paper removal super easy! Life changing for me 😂
Ooo will do thank you!
i would of recommended hiring a micro digger and tracked dumper to take out the back step as would of saved the back breaking work when i did my drive to get rid of the green waste i hired a grab lorry but im enjoying watching your refurbishment journey
Brilliant work😊
Great episode
That was a fast watch 😮😂
Hi, Thanks for sharing the tips on DIY Kitchens and now Arkiplan, great help. I know it's a bit cheeky to ask but have you any tips on the best and cheapest supplier for Bathroom sets and house doors...many thanks john
I was about to post "don't dump the old bricks!" when you said you keeping them. You can incorporate a lot of demo debris into hardcore under patios
Alfie had this brainstorm too (fortunately!) 😅
This is great! Love the edit ... Can we sleep over in the spare room!?
@@daniellehorsley7113 yes we just bought a trundle bed for it!!😍
Lovely to see you
Thanks for watching 😅
AHHH stop with the go pro ive motion sickness🤣🤣🤮🤮🤮love your videos, hi from Ireland
Hahaha sorry🤣🤪
Hi Nicky , Hi Harri nice to see you both 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤
Always a pleasure 🤗😅🥰
You could get a nice little basket to sit on the box next to the toilet for toilet rolls, give it a purpose
Exactly what we were thinking! It’ll be glammed up 😅
GREAT WORK!!! But I NEED longer videos 😂😂😂
Ah thank you Dean!! I wish we could get more content to make them longer!!!🤩🤣
Yesssss i can watch this later 😊 i wish it was longer 🥰🍿
We hope you enjoy it 😅🥰
When doing the time lapses could you add a small timer too so you get an idea of how long a particular job takes/took you?
Great idea Henry- would defo be useful for other renovators. Can maybe add a ‘multiplier’ in the bottom corner so you know how fast it’s sped up!!
Hi great work love that you plan everything Do you npboth have full time jobs?
Nice!
Love it
🥰🥰
Yes Harri should propose to you Nicky xxx
💍💍💍🖖
A 3 bed semi/teracced just simply won't do 😜
30 quid for the copper , lots more if you have a copper tank in the loft , maybe 100 odd quid
Please encourage Alfie to wear a seatbelt!! Wouldn't want to ruin his pretty face :-) Great progress this week as well. Fingers crossed for the planning permission!!
Oh god, didn’t notice that - will do! He does have a pretty face🤣
Great progress this week kids you’re smashing it. And come on harri put a ring on it mate plus it’s better for the tax if your married 😂😂😂
Hahaha you’re not wrong Wayne🤣
Wouldn't it be better for the kitchen extension to be same level with the rest of the house, for rest of mind with regards damp and drainage
Perhaps - but we love the idea of the kitchen being able to be on the same level as the patio
10 years I dont think Princess Catherine had to wait that long!😂
❤❤❤❤❤love you guys you are so amazing
Lots of love ❤️💙
Please pop the question to Nicki the Bricky. You make such a lovely couple #Wedding 🎉
what software do you use to edit the videos
what do you plan on using to heat up the house ? surely that 1 small furnace isnt enough ?
@@prospect2664 gas central heating (radiators) is getting installed first week of Nov!🤩
No ventilation in bathroom?
Whats the dimensions of the extension? I am doing a 8m x 4m extension to the rear but struggling to concepualize the kitchen&living room
just wondering, have you rewired the place or keeping the original? and if you’ve kept it is it the old red and black or new colours?
ignore me i didn’t watch far enough haha
Great progress. How are you going to heat the extension?
We’re thinking wet underfloor heating!! 💭💭
@@NickyandHarri that will work. We didn’t same. You may also want to consider a log burner in there too.
Harri! Harri, Harri, Harri, tut tut tut.... Ring for a ring (LOL), You know you are punching, so sort it out and marry her (I want to be chief bridesmaid). Hope this made you smile :)
Hahaha, thanks Tracy- this did make us chuckle! 😂😂😂
Guys.. get a wallpaper steamer!
The machine for footings would've taken out those steps in 30mins
GoPro footage gives me motion sickness, had to skip past it all 😅
WOW U 2 are brilliant so hard working i cannot wait to see the end but to go on your journey with you will be amazing XX O and im not say anything about the proposal of marriage
Thank you Pamela!! it’s a grind but we really are loving it! Xx
That Mdf will get “wet” and rot :( you can get moisture resistant versions
Even the steam from shower will make it soggy
Are you able to do this full time or do you have to do it alongside jobs? This is a dream full time job
We do TH-cam as our full time jobs! 🤗👍🏻
Go Harri Go Harri💍 !!
Yassssssss
