When I first heard this song I had NO Clue the implications. From 16 then to 45 now having survived my runaway train of alcoholism and addiction. Many I knew didn't survive, some are still slowly fading. This brought back a lot, ...to those who never made it back✌. Thank you KEXP and Soul Asylum
I never got bogged down in it(through some internal stubbornness), but nearly everyone I became an adult with did, some fell early, and pulled themselves back, some never did, some floated but fell down after 15-20 years. Amazingly though we are all still alive.
At 43 years old, I have lived this song coming out and being released, being played on MTV, VH1 and the box, playing this song myself live for over 2 decades and seeing this band play it for over 30 years! Thank you
I first heard this song when I was 20 now I’m 51. Time flies so fast. Sometime I searched for MV of this song and nostalgic to the old days. We are getting old but we are happy to see and hear you sing.
Life moves fast….so fast. People change, places change, but music always stays the same. This song, any song…frozen in that one moment in time where it meant something to you.
When I first heard this song and saw it's clip with the faces and names of kids that had gone missing along with their childhoods, I was about 14 yrs old and I was convinced that I'd be a face on a missing poster, it's 40 yrs on now, I've finally put my demons to rest but that song will always bring a tear to my eyes
@@cheymorningstar4714 if I remember correctly there was a girl on there who's family member noticed her. Think something positive turned out of the video. It really was a great video and that was many moons ago ❤️ wishing you and everyone a healthy long life
First time I heard it was in 1993. There was an exchange student who came to Sisimiut (Greenland) from São Paulo, who introduced this tune. Liked it instantly. He left home in 1995. I listen to it from time to time, remembering our time together. Last year, after 30 years since we met for the first time, somehow, we connected again. Our next goal is to meet again. We are looking forward to it 🥳
Grave Dancers Union was my first CD album! It's excellent from start to begin. I still remember the music video, very sad. Thank you Soul Asylum & KEXP!
por lejos la mejor decada musical, cuantas bandas por dios!!! hoy ya no existe. La vieja escuela es la que esta salvando la musica. Cuantos hermosos recuerdos de mi adolescencia!!!
Say what you want about being overplayed. The music video helped save kids and put some mysteries to rest. That makes it THE most important music video ever made.
I had a great life growing up but dang this song always makes me just want to cry. Can't imagine how it felt to be someone who this song was truly written for.
After so many years this song is still so powerfull.. And the performence is so real, even with age naturaly changed voice, that it's giveing even more emotions..cose natural :)
Ryan, an incredible musician in his own projects as well, seems to have been born to be the perfect fit for Soul Asylum. Very proud of him, oh just saw him at the mall today too. :)
The first time i heard this song, I was about 6 year old and i wanted to runaway. It was Hard for me, and i cry several times, but this song has help me go trough that hurricane in my head. Thanky Soul Asylum, you save my life in a kind of way.
wow holy smokes I'm 51 and in a few short weeks i turn 52. This gem came out when i was at the end of teens. This song is a great song to turn to if im not in the best headspace.
When this video was released on MTV it showed runaway or lost children. They would change the children throughout the months following so other children could hopefully be found.❤
I don't know why they showed up in my feed but I am so glad. I am 43 years old this year and I remember when this song came out. I was a runaway train for so many years. I was a lost soul. Years and years of addiction just trying to end the pain and put myself away. Thankfully I am 3 years sober now and I'm on a more stable track. But this song is so beautiful and it has so much meaning and significance and to all those who didn't make it may they rest in peace. This even brings a tear to my eye listening to it.
Brother, unless you are being abused, please go home.. otherwise, as the above comment said, find help or support, from another close family member. it’s not worth it.
This song was on the very first CD Single i've bought during sommer camp back then. Listened to it on my portable CD-player all day (and night) long... Great memories!
