How many of us can relate to these lyrics, even at 65 this song still makes me cry, few songs can touch your soul this one touches every sinew of my being
Im 39 and for me this has to be one of the best songs ever made, they sure dont make shit like this anymore.
I'm 44, and I was 13 when this song came out. I have the cassette tape. CDs weren't around then. This song spoke to me at 13, and it still speaks to me at 44.
Around the time this was filmed these guys did an "unplugged" show at the club were I worked. I will admit I was not yet a fan, but after meeting them and experiencing their performance I was forever converted. Very professional, kind and cooperative gentlemen to work with. They did a lot to help me connect with their generation. The way this song expresses such intimate personal emotion is extremely powerful. It's more than a song or work of art. It's humanity! I think there is a dark spot inside all of us that can relate.

The lines " like a firefly without a light" and " how on earth did I get so jaded, life's mystery seems so faded" sum up depression for me personally. I only really understand the meaning of this song now, and although in a way I wish I didn't i, I love it even more. Even stripped down to basics it is still perfect (and just so perfectly sad...)

Me? Every time I hear this song, I recall the first time I heard it on the fm in an old friend’s pickup. I was not long in from the road broke and run down. I wondered for a moment if it was someone who picked me hitchin cross country somewhere and heard my story driving across Utah or some such. The song hit me like a slap in the face, a punch in the gut, and an ice pick in the heart all at once. I didn’t know whether to cry or start breaking things so I just sat dumbfounded. A perfect song for the lost soul a few miles off the road. I guess it’s likely a part of what followed and why I am so safe and happy now. I am grateful for these young men with their keen insight.

This song is simple but at the same time its one of biggest achievements in popular music. Theme of this song, videoclips that helped find missing people, reasons behind their disappearances, all this is out of this world, and on top of that we have very cool expression from musicians, especially Dave who everytime sings from depth of his heart.
