Great idea! I'm glad to tell you that is exactly what has been, and is being, done. Versions with currently missing children in them have been issued. I don't know what the total of located children is now. It might be a large amount by now. I do know that the original video led to 26 missing children being found. Not all of them were still alive. Those killings have been solved, and the murderers sent to prison.
This song has been used after in different countries with different missing peoples names.. i think they even had a version 25 years after the original release
@@megapint4521true. The figure above is a stat given by one source at a certain point in time, way back. There's a huge thread about it on the original film clip version, stemming from the most popular comment. Careful, though, there's some nasties on there, as usual.
Having been physically and then mentally and emotionally abused all my childhood and even into my twenties by my mother, I can relate totally with this song. I eventually found the strength to walk out and never go back or have contact with the family. The lines ‘A little out of touch, a little insane, just easier than dealing with the pain’ is so true. People in the military thought I was an arsehole, and I was, but nobody tried finding out why. One of my bosses, a senior officer interviewed me one day and told me that I should go home on leave. He definitely didn’t like or expect me to tell him where to go!
The song isn't about runaway or abused children though. It's about depression. The music video has nothing to do with what the song is actually about. Look it up and what Dave actually says about it
when all other musicians were doing it for the drugs, sex and wild times .. these guys are saving childrens lives!! they were one of my favorite bands in the 90s and they still are. it shows how good things will happen if you follow some morale standards.
I think the song is a blessing and occurs for Dave and Soul Asylum...Because unfortunately sometimes it's the only thing people know from the band, but I think he has learned to appreciate that fact because so many people tell him how much the song means to them ❤️

I could see Taylor Swift doing a cover of the song, with photos of currently missing children in the video. She's so popular, and influential due to that, it would bring *Huge* awareness of the issues involved.
I’ve thought of overdosing and so did my aunt with her Valium , but she believed the Bible and she said god says suicide is a sin and so does woody miliron , so lets keep working on disabling the beast with Howard and Caleb , right elon musk ,
I suppose you're just trying to make a (weak) joke. Here's an answer, anyway. Dave Pirner, lead singer-songwriter of Soul Asylum is in this video. Not Axl Rose. I saw a recent photo of Axl, and he and Dave do resemble each other. Maybe more so now, as Dave no longer has a beard.
@@keepingitreal5533- Oops! 😳🫢 My error! Yes, he is. I saw a recent photo of Dave, as promotion of TPT's "Stages". Partly due to the stage lighting, but I'm sure mostly due to my very poor eyesight, I didn't see facial hair. I've looked again. Thanks for correcting me! ❤️
SOUL ASYLUM is a special guest to STP in Columbus soon. Can't wait to see my favorite band STP. Soul Asylum has 210 million views on TH-cam. If they would update this video with missing children it would have made a difference to some one. IT STILL CAN
Soul Asylum should remake this song every so many years with different pictures of missing kids.

Yes!
They do have a new one with new singers not the band
Great idea
There isn’t enough song play
I wonder how many more people would be found if today's popular artists did this
with 21 located from just one pop hit... hundreds to thousands. Even if just one video a year did this.

yeah but they wont as their lysics are all about money, cars and s$x
I wish more artist would do something to help missing children
Many artists are just as involved !! Big pedos ..
I'm a 66 year old self reliant tough guy and that song makes me cry a little everytime I play it on my guitar!😢

Wait, tell us more. How long ago was this? Are you still in the military? Whatever happened to your mom? Where was your dad? How are you doing today?
Sad.

You are amazing
An amazing story! Kudos to her for her bravery!
The music video actually served its purpose

Thanks, Soul Asylum! 🥲🤗💕
Thank you for sharing this video. so moving to see the effect of one song.
I had the cassette single. Probably the most impactful song in my life.
I’m glad she’s ok
One day at I time. God bless you ❤
Love you woman, thank you for your story, you are precious 💕!!!
Soul asylum runaway train such a powerful song ❤❤❤😢
Well done sir, of all your great songs and accomplishments this is the greatest!
I honestly wonder if dave pirner knows how important this song was and still is.

My man knew he was about to get got, so he dropped her with the quickness.
Should of done some serious jail time!
He is lucky, he would def do some years today.
No way. I had such a crush on this girl. So, so glad to hear that she's OK 😭♥️
Love you Liz and Jason ❤️❤️❤️
❤️
Great song ! I was listening it for 2-3 day in my car … never get old !
Hollywood for once doing something noble.

ok this is the first.....time of something else...
How did she disappear?
She ran away from home

Was Liz the girl whose story inspired a Mark_paul Gosselar movie Born Into Exile?
IIRC yes it is
I don't see any current artists doing anything meaningful with their music, it is all about sex, violence, and bling.
And winning awards.

Instead of saving lives like Soul Asylum did, today's "artists" actual help to cause deaths with violent lyrics to talentless r-n-b or rap.

yeah, it would be nice if artists went back to making meaningful art instead of vapid products that poison the minds of 8 year olds.
Why do journalists seem so fake?
That missing girl are real 90s kid not born90s
Running away from home huh?
good one , everybody should drink milk , for me it’s aleasias oat milk
why do we take anti deprecents ? We cant track a kidnapped kid ? We forgot how ? 😊
To bad today music is nothing but as shallow as a bird bath pop-tart crap
Helping her? She chose her 19 year old boyfriend over her family 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She was only 13 yrs old. She didn't choose her boyfriend over her family. She had no idea what she was doing.
