Man, asus TUF laptops are toasty even with those heatpipes! Can you test the laptop thermals again with a repaste with better quality TIM?
I'm sure many people would love to see that since there aren't any results when searching for it. Asus' thermal paste are notoriously bad IMO.

    Nice review Jarrod, keep going!
I think it is preferable to have more 3060 machines in the review because their price makes gives them a good price to value ratio. On the other hand a laptop for 2500 USD in comparison to a PC at same price or less (500 USD for monitor and keyboard) can't simply keep up in a gaming point of view.
Therefore gamers could really benefit from a midrange laptop to have reasonable gaming performance and portability.

Great review, It is annoying how most review units are always top spec,(I don't blame you) I mean it's a smart move to showcase "the best" to make your brand look good, at the same time, how many people are really spending $3,000+ USD on a gaming laptop. I would guess the "average" person is looking for something from $1,000 low end to $2,000(USD) high end, I just want the best frames for the best value, I really do not do anything but game and surf the web. Many times IMO with gaming laptops, it feels like "thin and light", mobility, high CPU power, are the main focus of gaming laptops, that IMO is what makes a creators laptop, we all know for the best gaming performance in any demanding game, you need to be plugged in anyways, a gaming laptop, should be chunky if it improves thermals, it should have dual channel standard, it should have decent sound, and a good graphics card, that is the stuff gamers want to pay for, but that is just my guess as a long time gamer.

hey Jarrod thanks for trying to put out reviews for the "lower" end laptops. due to the events from the past 2 years, i have been more inspired by lower end gaming(lol). right now i'm rocking the 2019 Acer Nitro 5 with 1650 and am totally loving it because it runs the games i play just fine. for gpu's i'm rocking a 1050ti, 1650, 1660 ti, 3050 and 3060 with no intentions of going above the 60 series. don't know why but i really like the 16 series by Nvidia and wonder what you thought are on those cards? I only ask because these two cards(and 1050ti) were the only cards you could pretty much buy over the past two years. not only that for most prebuilt pc's and laptop, you can always find something with a 1650 or 1660 when everything is out of stock or way too expensive(the prices here in canada for prebuilt pc's is fn crazy :( !!!) it defiantly seems like these cards are going to be around for at least another 4 years(my best guess). but yeah and also to be a bug, can we get some reviews for the 1650(laptops) :P thanks Jarrod

@@curlyeyebags No I got the one with the AMD 5800H. I have used it with an original Quest headset which uses compressed video so the mux switch would not make any difference. The mux switch only comes into play when utilizing display port for an external monitor, or direct display VR headset. Be aware that the unit you are talking about is going on two years old now so unless it is an exceptional deal I'd wait for next gen. Mine has been pretty great though and I still use it all the time. Most of the problems I have had ultimately came down to Windows updates and the time it took the varying parties, STEAM mostly but sometimes AMD or NVIDIA to come to grips with them. I have similar problems with my desktop.

How about showing benchmarks of machines with same or similar specs only? For example laptops with RTX 3070ti and 3070. The newer kernels fixed pretty much every issue Jarrod had when he had it (mine is the 1440p 240 hz screen, the only one with G-Sync & advanced optimus), however, I cannot get the screen to go above 60 hz in either X11 or Wayland in Plasma 5.24.5, Xfce, or GNOME 42, even in EndeavorOS.
