Batteries are the biggest single cost of an electric vehicle. Over the last few years that cost has dropped significantly but not enough to encourage buyers. What could make a significant change in overall cost are sodium-ion batteries. Chinese manufacturer CATL has been manufacturing this type of battery which has some major advantages over lithium-ion. No rare earth minerals. Cold doesn't affect performance or charging. And unlike Li ion batteries there is no fire hazard. As battery technology advances, prices drop and charging infrastructure fills out demand will rise.
I live in a very hot climate, not allowing an ev in my garage or driveway or anywhere near my house, so when it spontaneously combusts, I won't lose my home. It does happen here and more than many would like to believe.
EV market share peaked at about 40% around 1910. As unpopular as EVs are today, the only way we can be dragged back there is by forcibly limiting IC sales. That's how they did it in Norway. 85% new sales EV, during the worst auto sales in 60 years. And like everywhere else, those subsidized EV sales were mostly to corporate and govt fleets, not consumers.
This guy already implied it, the govt has to not only impose incentives for EV purchases, but penalties for ICE cars, which is inevitably coming to the U.S.
This is why us ICE drivers keep shouting that the Govt is ramming this crap down on us with clearly no proper planning. Hopefully, Trump Stops all this Boondoggle BS as 7 Billion dollars for 7 EV chargers is just too expensive for the world.
Need more choices than just electric Also the electric vehicles need a learning curve for the older customers for charging the vehicles Charging stations are behind the electric vehicle’s technologies
The majority of his yammering, this Duncan Wood guy said nothing about the infrastructure. Then when he finally did, he never used that term. Go back to your think tank and think some more. EVs, priced right or not, are impractical unless you only drive local and have a house to charge them at. So they currently work only for the rich.
Who in there right mind wants a overly tech laden car that you can't fix. The most valuable EV is the one in the Junk Yards as there are no real parts you can order in a timely fashion. ICE cars are a pain in the Tail Pipe but better the Devil you know vs Repairs in the 1,000's taking an excessively long time to repair. Some one needs to do a cost benefit analysis.

not until they make the vehicle survive in very cold conditions
No because most people don't want them or can afford them.
