    i really love your videos, i just acquired an Xbox one X a few weeks ago on facebook market for 40 bux, the seller went over his head thinking that he might be able to fix it himself and quickly realize that he didn't have the right equipment to fix it. so i took the challenge and took over his project as i just got some new equipment to start doing micro soldering. the retimer Chip were included and after watching your video, i had a better understanding what was involve on replacing that chip. The fact that it was my first micro soldering repair, i had to expect everything to go wrong. LOL but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would. I was able to fix my first Xbox one X at component level, that is right. retimer chip was replaced and had a big grin on my face when i saw that Xbox boot screen. Again, thank you for your wonderful videos. Keep on the good work my friend. =)

    Hey man. I love your videos. I am having the same issue with my Xbox One X with the no signal to the TV. I can hear sound but no picture which makes me believe its the Retimer HDMI chip. I love how thorough you are in your videos and how much pride you put into your work. I will continue to follow and subscribe to your channel. What tool are you using for your heat source to remove the chip? Wish I lived closer to you so I could have you fix my Xbox One X. Shipping would cost a arm and leg from Canada.

    Hi, I have an Xbox One S and I'm hearing beeps and chimes and controller is pairing and LEDs and fan are working but I'm getting no video. I checked HDMI port and it looks pristine. I checked filters for continuity, no problems there. I replaced the HDMI Retimer IC and I feel like I did a pretty good job. Carefully inspected all pins under microscope and the chip is well aligned for the most part (2 sides seem perfectly aligned and two sides are ever so slightly offset but there a no bridges and all pins are making contact with their respective pads. Before I did this, I replaced one of the VRM MOSFETs which was causing a short and no power. I tried holding down both the eject and power buttons until I heard a beep after 10-15 seconds still no video. I suspect that uBGA ESD chip that you mentioned might be bad. I'm getting 1.8v on R8B3, 0V on C8B1, 5v on either C8B2, 3.3V on C8B3, 3.3V on R8B8, R8B7, R8B6 & R8B5. This is after I reflowed this chip last night. Before I could have sworn I was getting only 0.36v on R8B3 and sometimes I'm getting an intermittent short to ground on C8B2. On my last round of testing I didn't get it though. I've searched for this IC part number it looks like PXD 809. It seems like there's an ST logo on the top. I can't find this part. Can you assist me? Am I getting the correct voltages when the unit is plugged in on standby?

    Hi,
    Hope you can help.
    I’ve attempted this repair as Xbox had intermittent signal before dropping out completely.
    I accidentally blew off C20 / C43 and C50
    I’ve reattached them and replaced retimer.
    Xbox initially boots up but no output.
    Restart Xbox and then doesn’t boot up at all. Press power button and it makes the boot sound and button lights up but then immediately dies.
    Any advise please?

  • @elecrticityelectronics8591

    Hey. Nice job as usual. I was wondering why is the retimer chip always failing in the XBOX. Is it an electronics design problem. What do you think. Thanks.

    • @jimjiggles1474
      @jimjiggles1474 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sheer lack of protection for the chip. These retimer chips are super fragile, if they don't like something as simple as a cable, they will just fail. Thankfully they're non-propriety components, so easily sourced. I've seen at least half a dozen Xbox One S consoles' retimers go bad just because the HDMI cable supplied with the console became faulty (people tend not to be gentle with cables) and sent the chip to the grave.

      i bumped into the same problem, what is the heat, but i recalled in his previous videos that he usually go around 500 Deg C. mine was at about 400 Deg C and the tip got stuck a few times on the board. So 500 DegC is the right temperature

Is there any truth to that? And since I got it back it still doesn't work and now when I stream to my pc the fan goes crazy as soon as Ioad a game and it turns off. Not really a symptom of a bad retimer. That sounds more like a software error, possibly from a bad hard drive or some corruption. If anyone on TH-cam has a fix for it, it's probably Andrew Paul. He will explain it much better than me. Google Andrew Paul Black Screen/Green Screen of death or something like that and it should pop up.

    You are replacing this chip very often. Do you believe there is a reason why is it goes dead so easy? Is there a permanent solution to fix this problem so it never happened again? 🤔
