The process for quickly identifying faults is the skill most suited to learning from a video. Actually repairing them is something you kinda have to learn from doing, not watching. At least that's been my experience.

    • @SPEXWISE
      @SPEXWISE ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@christopherjackson2157 Yeah I have to agree. I've tried a few things that I thought I could do but ended up out of my league. He does make things look rather easy. Good tools and equipment helps but even so, they are useless in the wrong hands.

      @jeroenvanschaik4680 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes they are! They are lessons you learn.
I live watching these videos because they learn me stuff and most of all learn me to be patient when repairing stuff.

    • @christopherjackson2157

@@SPEXWISE start small and work ur way up. If you haven't done something before find a piece of dead hardware and do a test run on it before working on the thing you want to fix. The second time you do something is always gonna turn out infinitely better than the first. It just takes practise.
And yes he does make things look ridiculously easy lol. It's really amazing to watch him work. :)

Can't seem to find chip's datasheet, but it might be "the shorting mosfets" driver.
Getting hot isn't normal so it may have become so sensible, and just instructs all mosfets to turn on when power is available, and in case of an H-bridge or half H-bridge instructing all of them at the same time will cause a short.

I just wanted to say thank you and best greetings from germany 👍
In germany we use flux from the company Stannol, its almost as good as Amtech, but its yellow after melting and you would hate that, i know for sure xD.
I would love your hot tweezers, if you get a new one, i would love to get my hands on your old ones 😂
I saw at a benz key video, once there was a bent one cause it dropped down maybe...
I would bent it back to normal and make it useful again for my own soldering station.
I also love to make useful things outta others trash 😂
People like you, who share their knowledge are the best, you should get a statue in northridge caused by your genius.
Thank you very very much for teaching us (and also for free)
I will open up a shop like yours someday and hopefully i will get good enough to make it for a long time. Best wishes for you and yojr family, sry for my bad english and stay healthy 🙏

  • @wellseverett5128

Alex. If you need some cheering up. I recently replaced the power connector and a USB port on a co workers Asus lappy.
It's not good when the tab on a USB breaks and you can plug in the cord, device either way. Right!
Well. Of course I did the repair like a boss. Not like The Big Boss. I like every one of your videos. And the look on your face when you succeed.
So...The guy, one of my techs. Asked how I did it and what equipment I have at home. What are you gonna' do?
    "Watch Northrdge Fix on TH-cam".
I guess he did. And some of the girls too. Especially the one I replaced a screen on her cell phone for.
So what do I start hearing around the shop? In your distinct voice and accent.
    If something, anything happened. Literally.
"Needs-more-Amtech-flux". And "Better-use-559-this-time". A machine broke, my tech fixed it. Across the shop I hear him say...
"Better-that-factory". If he didn't have parts, "Whatta'-ya'-gonna'-do?". Oh it gets better. Wings and beer night at the local sports bar.
Wings are good. Beer is cold. A few of us are there from work. Someone buys me a beer when mine gets low. What do I hear?
    From across the bar, with a smile. "You-need-more-Amtech-flux". "Everything-we-drink-here- you-can-get-at-the-bar". "We-dont-serve-you-anything-that-we-don't-drink-ourselves".
Keep up the awesome work. You need an assistant. Seriously. If he/she can pump them out.

The thermal suggests the chip is keeping the MOSFETs on so they blow. The chip should have protection against supplying to much current to cpu so I'm guessing pwm chip only problem. Good luck

From what it seems, whatever is driving those MOSFET's is likely the culpret. Whatever IC is driving the FET's is likely killing them due to an overvoltage to the Gate and Source. It's not normal for multiple MOSFET's to fail on a board the same way.

Wanted to maybe get you thinking about buying land and building your own house.
That way, you know that everything is done right and it fits your needs.
There are plenty of home kits you can buy and then add on later.
If you know an architect then get with them and see what they can come up with.
Also make sure your builder is honest and using the best materials.
Know your materials and watch that the builder is using the right ones.
There are standards for how hard concrete should be and how many nails to put in a board and the size of the nails etc.
You could have a house built that you could finish the inside of certain rooms later.
You are going to get what you pay for in home building but that's if you watch everything.
I like French Country style homes as they are very stylish and easy to take care of.
    Good resale value too.

For the T-series .... Lenovo did a great job same as HP EliteBooks like 640 and 840. But Later T series are getting to thin ... to the point they contradict themselves in their roots of being tanks fo office and fiel applications. Latitudes ad Presicion as well. Any CORPORATE grade laptop will make. You can get gaming preformance on a Dell Precision Mobile Workstation .... and you will barely get issues at all. Of course, those are not glorified tablets.
