I like that adaptation very much. I haven't heard that baffle sound anywhere on the web. Totally unique! Go ahead and get a fuel manager, to get your Air Fuel mix right. I pulled my plugs after I put my Rush Slipons after a 650 mile trip and almost white tips. Since the download and 800 mile trip plugs look better. So I know that I'm not running as lean. And the decel popping stopped. Your bike looks rad. Love the vivid black. I'm think about getting 4.5 Indian Larry and painting it vivid black with billet silver racing stripes.
Thanks, you have good ears, this sound is only those who know differentiate bikes. Yes you right, I'm already saving a dollar a day haha, to buy the Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3 here in Australia it costs $ 500. It is somewhat weird to HD not include the automatic electronic mapping, the company knows that 90% of their bikes will have modified exhaust. Consumers already paying a overpriced bike, with $300 at the end wont make any difference and will be a great market differential, guaranteed that everyone would enjoy. Every month I make a little change, always without spending much. I painted the headlamp base with matte black I bought a solo luggage rack very stylish, made in China of course, now I see you already have one. In the future I will do a video with these cheap and simple modifications, for me the idea is not lose the style and look like tacky or bad taste. Yes, I also have serious plans to changing the tank, here in Australia runs 100km in a day is nothing! A full tank ends in 2 hours on the road. The problem is we don't have gas station in the middle of nowhere haha I trying to keep the peanut profile, however unfortunately there is not tank with more than 3.4 gallons in order to keep this style. Your solution is also a nice idea. Yours videos is really good, I haven't patience for edition anymore, I'm getting old haha Your windshield it's very nice, good idea to cut it, it's so hard to find one than fits nice. I also installed the USB charger plug, I figured out in the next day then I can't leave it connected, was discharging the motorcycle battery even if the phone wasn't connected.
I love the look of stock heat shield and you just resolved my problem. That's fucking cool. Anyhow I already already new set of mufflers so while my stock muffler comes off. I'll have it cut and redo it for a change next time. Thanks man.
Also, as long as you make more holes in the baffle and use the insulation wouldn't I get the same sound as you do on my 48? Just curious why it needs to be a V&H baffle as opposed to the stock Harley one. Thanks Rod. Look fwd to hear from you.
basically you know how a whistle works, is the same idea, different shapes, sizes, angles, materials, textures, everything have influence on the final result. Is hard to explain, is a complex calculation, if you interested search for dynamic of fluids, have a look in the pictures on Google.
I own a 2016 Forty Eight and I want to remove baffles. There was the catalytic converters in your mufflers? Did you need to retune the EFI for avoid the torque losses?
the catalytic converters came out with the original baffles. You do not need, remap/retune the EFI but will consumes more, lose torque and have backfire, some guys do not care. But I high recommend install V&H FP3.
To preparando o outro video, trocando o tanque, no mesmo esquema, fico melhor do q eu imaginei.
Hey Rod, I painted my heat shields flat black with VHT HEADER CERAMIC spray paint. I'm not too happy with the results. How did yours turn out. Were you happy with it?
I did my exhaust today. Your video was a HUGE help. I read this TH-cam channel with Delboy, and he says that Sporters like yours and mine don't need to be remapped. He says they adjust on their own. I have a PowerVision but I need to buy a new license so I can use it on my 2016 48. But I hope I won't need it. BTW, what slip ons do you have? They don't look like my stock ones. It confused me when I had to cut mine. One last thing, I love that you painted your heat shields black. What paint did you use? Thanks Rod for your video and getting back to me. Love to get your email to compare notes.
Nice, make a video with the new sound. After few months with this new exhaust I believe you don't need remapp however I think it would be more recommended, because consumption is high which is not nice for a small tank, one litre make a lot diference, also lose a little torque. VHT HIGH TEMP FLAME PROOF COATING EXHAUST SPRAY PAINT FLAT BLACK, good lock! You are on www.hdforums.com? Lets talk there, I can't put my email here sorry.
nice video. I have a 48 and my big sucker air filter and VH fp3 just got shipped. Now i don't have to drop more money on exhaust with this, thanks dude. How wide was that VH baffle you used?
Beyond the backfire (only in deceleration) and consuming a little more, all good. Actually I like POP POP POP you keep people away I like hahaha I realized the bike is more loose, easier to ride. Before the gases were holding the engine, looking like it was clogged. I don't have ideia why HD do this shit. Probably some stupid law. Now have too much air in/out too fast for the stock ICU map.Now saving money to buy a V&H Fuelpak in order to remap new proportions of ar/gas. Good look with your project, be patient, don't do anything in a hurry!
Rod, I wrote to you a while back after I did my exhaust on my 2016 48 and it is still popping on decelleration. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to buy a remap system.
now you don't have exhaust air restriction any more, try to restrict the entry of air. Try different configurations in the air intake filter, place a tape or something like that or a filter with higher density, be careful not let anything fall into the air pipe. Other solution is do not pull the throttle too fast and do not release too fast.
Is stock, may be in Australia is a diferente model. I having seen many HD 2016 models in US still using ordinary key to turn on. Here all HD don't have more normal keys is just a key fob. Also you can turn the bike on with out any key, like put the password just it.
While sound decent, factory setting on these new fuel injected harlerys are crazy lean, and without compensating that, your performance may suffer tho...
Yes you right about performance, but will suffer anyway also with stock system, too restricted, I was shocked. The idea is a good management system (ar/gas) in order to manage this new amount of ar. I'm already saving a dollar a day to buy a Fuelpak. The problem now is to manage the amount of gas in that little tank. You know...horse who runs more eat more... anyway after 200kmh (125 mph) it's hard to maintain control and stability.

Did you say you bought a Vans and Hines Baffle for each pipe. I don't understand.
yep, I bought used pair on ebay

Hi thanks, it's 2 inch. The backfire will stop after you setup the VH FP3
Sweet, thanks man. I'll post a video when its all done
Rod I got the baffles today. I'm curious to know if your bike is running too lean now. Can you describe any problems you are having, if any?
Beyond the backfire (only in deceleration) and consuming a little more, all good. Actually I like POP POP POP you keep people away I like hahaha

Add more fuel it’s lean
like the intake on it brew!
Your stock pipes don't look like my 2016 48 slip ons. Did u get different ones b4 you did this mod?
Is stock, may be in Australia is a diferente model.
