what if i tell you...that dragons don't exist ? xD well, anyway yeah it doesn't work very well, but..it's still a fantasy movie, not everything must be like the real life, otherway it would be boring, but see amazing battle actions (legolas OP) or giant eagles or what ever you can put in there it's good for your imagination and take inspiration, beside to see something new and unusual that maybe can't be in the real life , so enjoy a bit more the movie, it will not hurt xD :P ps: remember, I agree about the bow, tecnically thinking about it

To be fair the Hobbit was written before LOTR, whereas the movies came out in the reverse. They did kinda have the problem of Legolas existing in that place and at that time because he was slotted into LOTR as Thranduil’s son after The Hobbit. If they didn’t include him could you imagine the rebuke from movie-only fans who would expect Legolas (one of the key characters from the movies they already know) to be present at his fathers home
Honestly I think the Hobbit movies are still enjoyable even if they’re not quite like the book. Two separate entities entirely, but the movies get way too much hate really. They’re pretty entertaining overall.

They missed one! During the battle, why didn't the orc army sit back and allow the elves and dwarfs to fight each other? After they kill each other off, then attack. Poor orcs. I always root for them, but they always miss simple opportunities.

Well, not exactly ^^ the only time Tolkien said Legolas could walk on snow, Frodo actually saw him doing this while running; it is a simple physical phenomenon that works irl, if (like Legolas) you know how to place your center of gravity (some people like the Ninja could do that, and there is a species of american lizard - Basiliscus basiliscus - which is able to run on water using the same physical properties).
But jumping on falling rocks has nothing to do with this, it stays physically impossible. Elves are "magical" in a sense, but they can't cancel gravity (remember that Tolkien's planet, Arda, is our Earth; apart from magical things, physical laws on Middle-Earth are the same as ours.

+Corndog guy It was never supposed to be a detailed and large-scoped book like LotR. It was a children's fairytale that followed an episodic, adventure approach. At one point Tolkien intended to rewrite the Hobbit to make it fit more in line with the LotR, to add more detail and such, but eventually abandoned it because he felt it just lost the spirit of the original book.
Dude eagles are really useful, and the only reason (imo) Tolkien didn't use them much was not to end the books early.

This just made me realize, Thorin is totally wearing a suit of full plate when he gives Bilbo that shirt. But when he goes out to battle he's not wearing the plate armor anymore. Why? You would think that would be the specific time you would wear it.
Because he realized that his plate armor was too heavy that it made him sink in a lake of gold with a dragon swimming in it. Lol.

She isn't even a real character. They literally made her for the movies, and she only agreed to appear if they didn't make her into a love triangle. They wrapped the movie then called her back to shoot a love triangle.
It was the biggest flaw in the whole series that I don't think anyone liked in the slightest.

I consider myself a purist, and I didn't mind the concept of Tauriel in and of itself, since surely there is at least one woman among the faceless, unnamed elf guards/soldiers. Elf/dwarf romances are just too scandalous though for Middle earth. Even with elf-human romances, there's only been like three of them in middle earth history: Beren and luthien, tuor and idril, Aragon and arwen of course
