ok so idk if od26 reads comments but 'negative reinforcement' does not mean what he thinks it does (im 7:25 in so maybe its said later)
For anyone confused or who doesnt know, positive/negative reinforcement is a type of behaviour modification that attempts to avoid punishment - instead using negative and positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement = gaining something because you did well like 'Oh here is some candy because you did your homework on time'
negative reinforcement = taking away a negative or undesirable thing because you did well like 'Oh you did really well this week you dont need to do your chores this weekend'
Punishment is what od26 means here. Punishment is an entirely negative thing that aims to put someone down or put them in discomfort. By calling yourself shit you are punishing yourself.
What od26 wants the reviewee to do is positive reinforcement. such as gassing himself up after a kill or reassuring himself that he can do it. In this specific situation there isnt really a negative reinforcement the reviewee could do - unless you consider 'not shit talking himself' to be taking something negative away (which i guess it is in a way!)

Hi, i really appreciate your comment. Just to add to what you have said, the words negative and positive do not necessarily mean bad and good in this context. To my understanding they also refer to the addition or subtraction of something. Furthermore, the words reinforcement and punishment are used to describe what the modification to the behavior is. Reinforcement is used to increase the desired behavior and punishment is used to decrease the undesired behavior. I do not want this comment to seem like I am trying to say you are wrong. I just wanted to expand on what you said because I enjoy psychology. Meow

i just want to say, my brother coached me when i first started about 3 or more years ago he was immortal 2 and he coached me the same way you coach people. Saying why its wrong and letting them try to explain helps soo much. I used to get so upset when he would say things like "why are you looking there when you seen him there" but it made me hit immortal 2 in two episodes so w.
a lot of people think i'm trying to degrade or put him down. when in reality i'm trying to invoke critical thought in his brain to allow him to grow on his own. some people just don't see the vision

The biggest thing that helped me improve was knowing the difference between a good play that failed vs a bad play that succeeded. Because the difference between the two is Rng and execution.
My friend's always like this, he's not a team player, always solos everything and tries to get all the kills the says that we're all getting carried because he's top frag. He legit got me killed so he can pick up my vandal.

tip for anyone else who hates the cringy voicelines like at 14:38 :
you can turn off the cringe lines and conversations that happen at the start of rounds by turning off "Agent Flavor VO" which keeps every other important voice line on. (Think this might also turn off the Protocol Skin voice-lines, not sure if they fixed that yet)

these are the kids in my ranked games who dont understand, yes you did get 25 kills but none of those kills helped us win the round and you actually made a lot of rounds harder on your team and a lot easier for the other team to win the round
their only help to the team is getting kill so it gives your team a number advantage but that's all and this is not consistent since they have to get like double the number of round you play like you guys lost 13-5 their kills is 36+ that means they got at least 2 kills per rounds if that's happening then they are not useless at all
+ their kills must be 1st kills and 2nd or 3rd kills of the round cause otherwise they are just baiting the team and playing only for kills

not hating but the first half of this vid just the coach asking why again and again like a therapist.. its just dunny to me, i know it is becuase the answer is too obvious thats why he keep asking why but those answers will never come to the player while playing the answers will come to your when vod reviewing
this is a vod review... he is not playing in the moment we are having a conversation in post.
The point of a coach asking "why" is to get the student to critically think... if they fail to figure it out i will then give them the answer (as you saw). I think a flaw within human nature is to have the answers "told to us" but without critical thought and self discovery the lessons i teach would fail to stick and therefore inhibit/slowdown our growth.
