- As world leaders from the United States to France welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we look at press freedom in India under the leader of the Hindu nationalist party BJP. One of India's last bastions of free media, NDTV, has been taken over by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, believed to have close ties to Modi. NDTV's former executive editor and longtime anchor Ravish Kumar, one of India's most prominent TV journalists who has reported critically on Modi's Hindu nationalist policies, is the subject of Vinay Shukla's film While We Watched_, which is being released this week in theaters in the United States. We speak to Kumar and Shukla about the "anti-opposition, anti-minorities, anti-Muslim" state of media in India, where dissent is suppressed and pro-Modi nationalism is the _de facto rule. "No sober society can afford to have a kind of rogue media, which is so weaponized," says Kumar.

I can vouch that NDTV was actually a channel different from other channels. During COVID, I trusted only NDTV to get unbiased and factual info about ground situation. During all other sensitivity matters, NDTV was the only channel which was NOT heavily loaded in favour of govt and presented an objective, skeptical and professional approach to news. Alas, those times are gone.

I just started watching Ravish Kumar's TH-cam. My source of news will be his channel onlu. His videos are not just informative but also that refreshes your morning with certain philosophical thoughts also, that are shared by him. Last week i couldnt watch any TH-cam video for more than 5minutes but his videos of 16mins 30mins i watch them without gettung bored. His voice is so stable through out his videos, his presentation shows how experienced and kind of enlightened person he is. He is a kind of citizen i strive to become. But at the end of the video i didn't like it how the anchor abruptly stopped the director she could've waited for 30sec 1min more it wouldn't have been a big deal anyway.
