Good to know. I just noticed my iPhone 4s rear panel is separating. Still works perfectly. I don't use it much but would like to keep it operating as a backup, and with my old Wahoo ANT+ adapter for indoor bike trainer sessions. I'll find a local shop to replace the battery.

For me guys, it was covered by my warrantee of Apple. At the time I was not living in my home country, but in South-Korea, I just went to their local Apple Store and they gave me a new phone.

One day my screen slightly separated from the left horizontal side when I took my silicone case off. I no longer use a case. It can be snapped back in place but continues to occasionally separate especially when I take it out of my pants pocket.
Don't do this as it is DANGEROUS!!! Thank you for explaining what was wrong with my phone. I thought I'd do this job myself but found out it was only $50. For Apple to change the battery even though it wasn't under warranty anymore. Then they said it was DANGEROUS!!! to open it up when the battery was expanded and they wouldn't be able to do the work so for the price of the battery, that's $50 bucks they replaced my 2-year-old & plus with a New one. Thank you, Apple!

Been encountered this issue since the 4s along with the 5s, 6s, 8 and even the X. Even on the X I noticed it after two hours of usage after purchasing it because I was setting up everything. The phone got really hot and I think that’s why I started to become loose. They should make a iPhone made out of completely steel or something lol.
