  • The Polaris 400 4x4 2 stroke can be picked up for not much money and offers a lot of fun and utility. Check one out if you can.

They are nearly indestructible. The 2 stroke reliability along with a sold rear axle make then excellent work machines. I had a friend with one and he literally sunk it several times and we got it going again almost right after it happened every time 😂

I bought mine recently pretty happy with it. Loud smoky and fast. I also have a yamaha bruin has it since new. I knew going in i was going to to have to replace a few things first thing that went was the handlebar switch for headlights start stop etc and on a 2023 sportsman they still use the EXACT same switch lol

Just got a decent example for 450 bucks. Everything works on it and it has a winch and a plow. I don't care how bad people say the quality is considering a single payment on a 36 month finance of a grizzly is 450 bucks. I have a slew of dirtbikes and dualsports and am excited to get out on this thing with a chainsaw and do some trail maintenance.

Wow. Agreed 100%. That’s a lot of machine for that price. Well done.

I got a hobby farm and this looks like a good value machine to leave on the property.

I just bought my 13 yr old one of these off of marketplace! His first wheeler and was so excited. The speedometer and odometer stopped working for original owner 9 miles in brand new in 95. Now sadly we lost forward and reverse and low less than a week after buying it. It will go in low sometimes. Go in reverse briefly but it shows neutral on the green light while in reverse. No regular forward at all. It will lurk forward a bit but its like the brake is on. Such a bummer. Any ideas on the issue would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Sorry to hear that! After posting the video a lot of folks shared horror stories with these. Sounds like your transmission is probably stripped at the shifter engagement points. On these polaris transmissions its really important to be at a full stop and at idle before moving the gear shift. My guess is the previous owner did not do that and shifted it a lot either while still moving or at high idle. I also had a Polaris Trailblazer with the same issue. I had a shop do the repair and it was under $300 at the time. Good luck and sorry to hear that happened.

@FunGoingFast Ahh thank you so much for responding! I also assume the same. And I warned my boy who is a new rider to be very patient in shifting between revs and gears as I heard him grinding those gears trying to get going. We will do whatever we have to and get it fixed. Lesson learned.

What’s up with that counter oil deal or whatever it’s called. If I knew that that dipstick was there, and that machine entailed keeping up with that, I would’ve never bought it. Talk about inconvenient and nearly inaccessible. I am a girl and I do all of my own oil changing on my things, but I won’t even deal with that.

Mine uses twice the gas that that a four stroke does!

I can come up with 20 reasons NOT to buy it, I owned one myself and it was a pain in the ass. Theres always good because every machine has a purpose, and well its safe to say that I have a pretty strong opinion on these

I didn't own mine for very long and it had a pretty easy life before me with it being only used for hunting by an older gentleman. What issues did you have?

Awesome video well put together, unlike this machine.😅 My farther gave me one. All I can say is it is a money pit. Polaris is a rip off on the parst.and aftermarket is junk.
