Most archaeological conspiracy theories are made by and for people who are too lazy to do actual research but still want to feel like they've discovered something cool. I've always thought the ideas of conspiracy theorists made for interesting worldbuilding ideas, I just hated them for being used to spread hate and misinformation. It's cool seeing someone take the creative core of these things and turn them into something they're actually good for.
Some how this reminds me of megaman zero through legends But that Vista. Man this would be an anxiety sandbox fir a studio that put in the time Im a soulsborne groupie so that's where my mind jumps but realisticaly exploring it like skyrim would be amazing
Speaking of Neanderthals, I wonder if Matt will do something to represent the "mark of evil" God placed upon Cain and his descendants for that whole murder thing. Maybe that mark could be them being non-homo sapiens hominins like Neanderthals and the like.
while others praise your electricity concept integration in a general setting i want to express my admiration on what you show between 0:30 and 2:45 THIS IS ODIN. NOT ONLY EGYPT (which kinda is mentioned in Bible) BUT ALSO OTHER CULTURES REFERENCES CONFIRMED. as you said in the first part of the video, maybe some kind of archetype/visuals of gods to whom people should pray may have been passed on to cultures after the flood This Watcher is definitely what inspired future people’s belief in Odin , as traditional Wotann from germanic and nordic myths! While you didn’t say it even once, i admire how you both included and reimagined ALL of his attributes the god was described with: - one-eyed - half-dead (as in, Odin nearly died once, and this watcher definitely suffered some serious accident) - known to be regal, and comparatively on a sagely/wise-ish side in comparison to his felllow nordic gods, but still brutal and punishing when angered. - slightly crooked yet sharp old man with a travelling stick - one of the favorite aspects/forms of Odin - a helmet which looks like it has either horns or wings - raven / large raven analogue inspired cloak (his pet ravens) - and ofc the power over lightning/capability of hurling lightning bolts
8:42 for sound, will you be including the theory of vibrations? like how certain sound frequencies can heal you while others can destroy. There are sound frequencies that can make rocks float and light appear in water. Remember that in the Bible that God created everything with just his words. We have stories about wizards using spells and chants to make magic, all over the world. So if the watchers knew the secrets of vibrations and frequencies they too could use words to make "magic" happen and then taught their children, we now have wizards and witches.
It would explain how something like Machu Pichu is even possible. Moving those stones almost 5000 meters up is an insane task even today with helicopters
@fiend_in_a_locked_box I don't know dude. There is a lot of things we have yet to discover. I would not be surprised if in another hundred years or so if we develop tech that does exactly that.
@amberbrumley9548 okay I see this and this is is valid. Whilst unlikely, it's fun speculation about the future. My concern is our buddy @JavisBC reasoning that maachu pichu was built with vibrations. Lifting massive boulders with sound is possible in the same way that's its possible to tie your toothbrush to a cliff and bungee jumping downwards whilst cleaning your teeth by brushing against the cliff; ots possible, but it's so inefficient that's it's easier to just brush
Art Deco pyramids are so sick! The first wave of the style in the real world actually took a lot of inspiration from Ancient Egyptian art so it’s a better fit than one might initially think. I also really appreciate that you took a moment to explain what the “Egyptian lightbulb” motif actually is before doing your version. I’m an archaeologist and while I love artistic license as much as the next fantasy enjoyer, it’s beyond frustrating when conspiracy theorists who’ve barely even glanced at Wikipedia argue that people like me are foolish or liars because “obviously it’s a lightbulb because of the way it is.” There’s a line between having a good time with weird ideas for a story and perpetuating misinformation, and I’m glad you’ve drawn it.
Serpents representing electricity not only fits the aestetic of cables and coils, lightning itself could be seen as a serpent striking down from the sky.
Breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking! Loved the statues pulling the electric fence. When you said "I saved my favorite for last", I thought there's no way it gets better. But it did! I love your approach to worldbuilding, taking semi-realistic ideas and building logically on them. Great video!!!
I will say, when you teased Electricity in previous video, I was sceptical on how would you integrate it into the artstyle of Antideluvian. But now I see I was worried for nothing. Keep up the good work!
Watched it fully now, and I gotta say I love the little bits of humour you throw in your vids, absolutely masterclass! With the way you speak and sound as well you could even narrate an audiobook version of this as well, if you plan on adding text. Though if not, I would still buy a copy of dead gODS in a heartbeat. Loved Tellurion, will definitely love this Bible-inspired world too! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the Sound video of this world.
Hello, i recently binged all of your videos and became a stalwart fan of your work! your art style, worldbuilding, passion AND reasoning are awe inspiring. Thank you for taking us through the process with sucha fantastical yet still believable explanation!
Hot damn. Ancient Bronze Age / antediluvian + art deco aesthetics? That's a take I hadn't considered, but on reflection, there's a lot of cool Egyptian revival architecture to work with from the Twenties that makes a lot of sense! Very cool project.
It's good to hear your methodology of applying archeology & different interpretations given some of the more out-there ideas, and it's good to see you respect the original pieces & cultures that we do have solid evidence about
This is my favorite channel, your work is incredible! Inspired me to take my own art more seriously. Can’t wait to see where you go next with Dead gods
Great stuff Matt. The fire and the lightning, big inspiration. Also, love that you couldn't resist a curvaceous lady in diaphanous garb gazing at the marvel of technology and lit beautifully by the "false" light of technology. Does she have a premonition that this will all be swept away, or is she as spell bound by it as we are? Always nice to have a little bit of character to root all the glam and fantastical to something human.
I love this, you're approach to what is an advanced but also ancient technology is fantastic. It really gives the world a feeling of wonder as well as terror when you start thinking about how there are giants and dragons roaming around.
I think it would be interesting to see how your Hunter character interacts with these different giants and their technology. Since it seems that the Hunter prefers the company of the wild animals he hunts and the humans who adore him... Does he abhors civilization and such antediluvian technologies?
Im loving your creations and creative process as some one who loves history in all its facets finding the real storys and struggles of men to be more interesting as such i tend to struggle with alternative history or conspiracy theories that being said i do still find them interesting and your world i absolutely love its inventive and fascinating taking everything that i tend to dismiss and tutning it into a very fascinating world with a beautiful style as lore hats off to you you creative mad man keep building your amazing worlds
About classical gods descending from watchers, many Greek, Roman, Anglo-Saxon, and Norse gods have known etymologies reconstructable back to 6k-10kya (time-frames are hard to estimate like this). It wouldn't be a stretch to make Proto-Indo-European (the common ancestor of most languages in Europe) one of the languages created during Babel. Point being that you can tie the etymology in. For example, Jupiter, Zeus, Tyr, and Tiw (after which Tuesday is named) come from PIE "dyēus phtēr" broadly meaning "sky father". So if this electric watcher is Zeus, why might post-deluvian Babelites remember him as a Sky Father? Might be smth worth exploring :)
This is just so rad. I usually analyze similar videos and think about what I would've done differently, but come on, fulgurite wings on "biblically-accurate" Odin? Peak.
This is all so cool, I love it. Just to draw a literary comparison, we have Antediluvian like Howard did for Conan but an entirely different, very thoughtful, Biblically based approach rather than a pulpy Sword and Sorcery one. Love your art style and thought process so much! I've been taking a hiatus from comics and such type of media, but make an exception to see what you're doing. God Bless and carry on!

I like how this whole thing went from, “just some boat builder vs giants” into “THESE MFS GOT THE POWER OF GOD AND TECHNOLOGY AND DRAGONS”
The best kind of story progression!
Real
You should have said "these MFs got the power of God and anime on their side!!"😂

Wait, in which stories does Odin have any connection to lightning? I guess he fathered Thor but other than that?
Odin meets falen biblical angel meets tesla in a city of art deco pyramids acting as generators. You sir are a genius
Oh it is Odin!! How did i miss that?
@Alexandra-ip2by Lol, he hasn't adopted his "Gandalf" cosplay yet, tricky fella that he is!

pre scriptum: i am like the watchers teaching humans about arcane insight [grant us eyes]
Ok so to start ill need to explain electromagnetic induction
to explain it without having to explain it from a quantum level ill use an analogy.[//ill explain it like a wizard hold up. its magic time]
think of electrons as some object that float on water [wooden ball or something like that],
we have two representing the charges in the coil [//snake:3],
and the charges of the metal in the other object [in the case here a sword].
now imagine those two floating balls in a calm pool of water. if you use some power source to move one ball up and down on into the water you would create a wave on the waters surface, this is analogous to the magnetic field induced by the movement of charges. now this wave travels across the water and when it encounters the other ball it causes it to move up and down as well. this is btw how radios work you move electrons in the antenna creating waves in the electromagnetic field. when a large changing current in the coil creates electromagnetic waves which then travel to the sword and cause its electrons to move and since metal has resistance it causes it to convert the energy into heat. [//i tried to keep it short i can write more if needed ]
also if i may i have a few suggestions about other uses of technology.
-sticking to the theme of glass and materials, id suggest looking into the "plasma deposition process". tldr.
: its a beefed up microwave creating a cloud of metal plasma and accelerating it onto any object creating a thin film of metal
-little added detail the snake induction heater would create a humming sound same as a microwave
-one theory explaining the Bagdad battery its it was used for early electroplating
-also railguns
I really like that. The watchers helped create the world along with god and know the ins and outs of the universe . Even though they might not be superhuman they should have knowledge so deep that it would be indistinguishable from magic. So something like that would be perfect to show their power.
