Thanks so much for these videos Henry. Watching your techniques and paint choices have really pushed me out of my comfort zone and facilitated my experiments with different brands of paint and oils. Which I feel has really helped me improve as an artist.
That's great to hear, glad you're enjoying them
Definetly love the longer video format the thinking behind the decisions I find really interesting. Wicked video loving these minions just as something different, loving the cult of paint style
Glad you enjoyed!
Wonderful as always. Love hearing the reasoning behind you choices and you've really pushed me over the edge in terms of starting a Kruleboyz project with your videos!
Yes! More Kruleboyz!
This box does such a good job of mixing things up with the units. Enough to look like a unified force, but also not too "same". At least on the Orruk side. They absolutely work together. Fantastic.
It does!
Best painting channel on the internet. Pure genius.
thanks!!!!!!
These models look fantastic together, well done!
Thanks!
Been saving up 4 this set and finally pre ordered it. Definitely gonna paint the Gutrippaz like this. So exited!!
Awesome, it's a great set, i'm sure you'll have a lot of fun painting it up.
these are great videos, I have two boxes of Dominion on the way, and Stormcast were always the main choice but seeing these videos has me double guessing myself haha Some fantastic work across these videos, keep it up
I really like your explanations as you paint. Cheers!
Glad you like them!
I think they certainly look like the same army. Well done!
Phew!
Another great video! 👍🏼
Man, getting me excited to paint mine. Good work!
Gonna be great when we get to see tons of different paintjobs on them
i like this color scheme, they definetly look like they come from a swamp this way, good job! You're also good at explaining how to paint it.
Glad you like them!
Fantastic work again Henry,,really loved these Ork models,,I wasn't really that interested in getting the boxset until watching this... eeek.....must finish my titan first!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoying your Kruleboyz, can't wait to get mine. In terms of something else I'd like to see from the Dominion box painted up by you guys ... has to be the Kruleboyz leader on his giant Gnashtoof.
Agreed!
Thanks for making these!! I really like your work. Im a Patreon sub as well and I'd really like to see you take the Krulez foot boss to the next level of your painting above this! When I finally get mine these will definitely be my inspiration.
Noted!
I was about to come with 4 different colours schemes Tor my Kruleboyz… yet after watching your videos I think I’ll paint every guys separately so they’ll all come different while being the same! Great video!
great idea!
Love love love. Yellow looks great for shield
thanks!
Great work as always :)
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the video!
You are welcome!
Love this series on the Kruleboyz, and think there aren't many like it! Really think you should go for an army!
me too...
I think I'll have to come round so you can teach me how to paint, love that shield, the eye and teeth. Real good work
Great job mate, really love the cold dingy colour scheme, very swampy. Getting my COP infinity airbrush next week, can't wait.
Exciting!!
Been so back and forth and whether to get this set and I'm the most ready to get them after your videos 😁 great job with the yellow
For a big box of minis there isn't really a bad one i don't think.
@@cultofpaint the only ones I wasn't sure of at first was the Hobgrots, but your video with a 360 view and of course a very cool paintjob cleared that right up. As Chaos Dwarf player need myself some hobbos too 😁
these videos have got me so excited to paint the dominion orks which were initially low on my priority list.
As for a suggestion for another dominion tutorial - maybe a stormcast with a lot of fabric like the praetors or mage? Or Yndastra's wings?
I'll see what we can do
You make it look so easy
Love this drab monotone scheme
I'm here for the amazing shield tutorial!
Looks great. I was actually concepting a blue version with yellow shield and green leather. I might have to steal this recipe!
Do it!
I originally wanted to do a yellow skareshield but couldn't figure out a way to do one in a style I found satisfying. Then all of sudden you release this!-However, I adored your earlier metallic blue, and will definitely be stealing it for my Kruleboyz instead, haha.
haha, I've really warmed to that metallic blue one as well
Love it
Initially had no inclination to do the Swamp Bogglers, but now I'm super keen to paint them up once they arrive! Thanks Henry.
gooooood
So it just isn't me who has problems airbrushing S75. Really like your style and techniques, glad to be subscriber.
soooo frustrating.
I really like the new look of these Orks they look way better less comic book looking in design. They really remind me of some of the old art bits done over the decades for Lord of The Rings books 😃
Phenomenal
god Old hammer minis are so freakin' great. Super campy and hilarious but badass at the same time.
I would love to see how you would paint current Night Gobbo's and Iron jaws to fit in with this army - with techniques to bring down their cartoonish features! I'm not getting Dominion but holding out hope they'll do a smaller box to get my hands on these shield boys!
If I can keep the buzz then I’ll definitely look to do some of each of the greenskins
What would be a decent substitute for the Vallejo Russian Tank Crew? Thank you.
Top!
Great stuff as always Henry.
Would love to see how you approach the gnashtooth skin. Wouldn’t need to see a full character tutorial but just how you compliment the orc skin tones you have done
I hope I can get round to him
@@cultofpaint I'll +1 this, would be amazing to see your approach :)
Is there some GW paints you would reccomend for the green skin look?
4:08 "Did someone say... DANK!?"
*gloomspite gitz have entered the building*
it's a dank off
Very nice video, thank you Henry! It’s really easy to follow your calm voice and brush strokes. A very minor detail, but I was wondering which black you use to “blacken out” the details.
Vallejo Model Colour Black. Got to be one of my top 5 paints!
@@cultofpaint aaah, cool, I use the same. It’s soooo nice. Thanks for getting back to quickly, have a great weekend!
@cultofpaint hey henry, can i achieve this with drybrushing when i dont got an airbrush?
And if i dont have these colors what do you think are good alternatives? for live the mid tones? mixing a grey with an olive?
i really really dig this blue green olive skin of the orks and the yellow shield that pops (Y)
I would layer rather than drybrush your gerens. And then use the wash to tie them together, and then yeah any olive/blue/grey mix you've got really, pretty easy to create the colours you'll want.
Great video. Can enamels also go over oils without a coat of varnish on between? Or does it want a spray of gloss..
If the oil is dry then you can get away with it. Problem is the thinners activate both oils and enamels, so varnishing in between would mitigate this.
Great tutorial. Just a question please a newbie to mini painting - why put a gloss varnish on, only to put a matt varnish on after oil washing - what purpose does the gloss serve - thank you
The gloss helps the oil wash run into all the recesses. The matte then gives everything a nice uniform finish. And welcome to the painting hobby!
Koltti is the oldhammer GOD.
Great video! So good! I think I am going to buy an airbrush now.
I have a question: why are you putting on varnish in between? A shiny varnish before the oil wash and a matt varnish afterwards.
I don´t understand why you do that and I am still a beginner in painting, so I am really curious.
But again: great model, superb painted. So detailed. Love it.
Good varnish to help with oil wash, Matt varnish to change the look of the model. Check out our intro to airbrush playlist
Stunning paintjob thank you so much. Do you think there is a chance to achieve a similar result without an airbrush (my case) ? cheers
Thanks! Yes absolutely. Just layer up your greens and then follow everything from the oil stage onwards.
Does anyone know a decent alternative to the Russian Tank Crew color?
GW Sons of Horus is pretty close
Hi Henry, I recently purchased some Ammo Lucky varnish. My first test came out a little gritty. Have you experienced this, and do you have any tips with airbrushing this varnsih? thanks!
I haven’t no. It’s been the first varnish I use straight from the bottle. I do shake it a lot before using though.
@@cultofpaint Awesome thanks! Also, how long do you let an enamel wash dry for until apply another varnish coat? thanks
I’m having a hard time finding Russian Tank Crew on either Ammo by Mig’s website or Spraygunner. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
its a Vallejo paint
Would love to see you do the characters from both forces
Me too mate, might throw up a poll in Patreon
I'm glad it's not just me who struggles to get S75 to shoot smoothly through an airbrush! It seems to like to clog up far more than Vallejo or Tamiya.
It's the matting agent. Their own thinners work fairly well with it, but in my opinion its just not worth the hassle when you consider the options out there now.
@@cultofpaint well, I've ordered some of their alcohol free acrylic thinner. It's about the same price as the Vallejo thinner I had been trying to use, so I won't be losing out in the long run.
Online, a lot of people seem to think the alcohol causes the paint to gum up, which definitely rings true.
Are you planning on uploading more vids to conclude the soulblight skeleton tutorial?
Yes
Any alternatives to the enamel and oil stage? Lovely video overall
GW contrast paints watered down a bit.
@@cultofpaint much appreciated ❤️
Henry if there is chance, could you do one of the robed stormcasts? Just to get an idea for the purple and black robes of the knights Excelsior.
Also would love to see a purple cloth tutorial for them!
I know you are busy wityh your new green skins but could you do a kharderon overlords using minimal use of metallic? i think that would be so cool
I've had an idea for some Kharadrons for ages now, be fun to share it.
Why use satin varnish on the skin instead of matte? Is it just to give the skin a sheen?
yeah exactly that, and to give more contrast across the model
@@cultofpaint Thanks, didn't no it helped with contrast.
The more of your tutorials for these, the more I like them- except the hobgrots where the proportions just keep looking off. Those shields also seem to have a very heavy Brian Froud/Labyrinth influence to them, which is really cool.
Glad you like them!
These are much better looking orcs, I feel the ones in the cobbled-together armor suits (Orruks) are waaay too cartoony. These look more like something from a Frank Frazetta painting.
@6:36 Proof that purple is a stealthy color
This Orruck gonna say how he glazed his skareshield in a pungent yellow and not describe where he got the color from
Grim. But probably accurate
Great I don’t have a air brush
Great video but that huge gap going down the gutrippaz back makes me so sad :(
easy to fill if that kind of thing bothers you.
@@cultofpaint Oh for sure. Maybe I am the only one but imo it takes away from your beautfiul paintjob!
If it was a character mini, or the gap was on the front then I’d definitely fill it. But it just doesn’t bother me on gaming pieces like this. The new kits have been really well done with respect to the joins.
Great! A more "realistic" skinns for the orcs than many I have seen. But sweet jesus, the parting line on the back of the Orc must be one of the worst i have seen in many years.
YOUZ AZ NEVER SEEN A PURPLE ORK? DATZ CUZ ITZ DA SNEAKEIST COLOUR YA ZOGGING GIT!
