The Ethan Character & Quinn the Third 3rd Ghostface killer on the subway train with Mindy made sense why he left Her alive only to build a possible stronger alibi if he was among Her, Sam, Tara, Chad & the rest of the group If he has Mindy’s TRUST then it would throw off suspicion from Samantha and the others. Maybe possibly only to spare her here to have her killed with the rest of her friends to show Samantha’s failure And proof that she is a killer.

I think I figured out the subway scene. If you watch closely, Ethan purposely stays behind the group and never attempts to hold Mindy back. His plan was to miss the subway so he could regroup with Quinn on the next subway. Mindy getting on their subway wasn't part of the plan so Quinn tried to kill her so it doesn't complicate things. Quinn isn't able to kill Mindy because the subway doors open and she doesn't want to miss her stop. Ethan checks to confirm that Mindy is dead but when she isn't, he panicks and helps her to preserve his alibi.

    • @Surgemaster2012
      @Surgemaster2012 ปีที่แล้ว +17

@@howardroark3736 it's really the context between how Dewey and Chad's plot armors were laid out. With Dewey in Scream 1 he just got a stab in the back, and while Scream 2 ups the plot armor, it isn't on the same level as Chad. Chad literally gets multiple stabs from almost every part of his body by more than 1 ghostface in a film where Ghostface is at his most brutal. The leaps in armor there is above anything with Dewey. And at least with Dewey those plot armors began to run their course as each movie progressed and culminated into him having nerve damage and walking with a limp by 2022. Dewey also wasn't well enough to get up and kiss Gale when being wheeled out either.
It also contradicts other character deaths, since the original idea behind Randy's death was to retcon it in Scream 3 with the video tape scene being replaced with his appearance entirely which was going to be explained away with he was in hiding. But they decided against that since it would be unrealistic.

The only killer that was SUPER OBVIOUS to me was Ethan. If my roommate explained to me, "There's a killer after me and he'll kill me and everyone associated with me!" my reaction wouldn't be to continue to tag along with them! Especially if said murders began to happen to their other roommates. Watching the movie, Ethan kept coming back to join them and I kept thinking, "WHY ARE YOU HERE!? WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?" Obviously, to kill them himself!
But nothing irritated me more than, after the unmasking, everyone was suddenly a moustache-twirling cackling Villain of the Week -- Laughing maniacally and acting all crazy and shit... I mean obviously if you plan to murder others, you've got a level of crazy to you, but you don't have to go full Zaney.
Last gripe: Sam stabs Ethan like, 6 times in the chest before being chased up onto that balcony... but minutes later, Ethan is under Tara, swinging his knife around and cackling like a moron. Like, stabbing doesn't seem to matter at all in this movie unless it suddenly does. It drove me crazy.

I do think Nancy Loomis had the best Ghostface reveal because she had the element of surprise behind her. Yes you could suspect her being the GF, with how she acts around Gale and whatnot. But the reveal was about her being Billy's mother and using a different alias entirely, rather than knowing if she was GF or not. Which first time viewers wouldn't know. Since they don't really give much hints at her being Billy's mother. Plus Mickey as her accomplice with his own motive as well really helped since it was used as a way to draw off suspicion to herself, as Mickey doing the bulk of the kills allowed us to draw off attention to her. With Scream 6, they throw way too many hints that it is somehow connected to Richie, especially with how much of Sam's GF calls were using Richie's number. Plus DetectIve Bailey was too obvious!
I do like Scream IV a lot tough, it is up there for my favorite film of the franchise. It is probably below the original to me. To be fair, I always saw the killer's Ghostface persona as having some amount of powers of its own, since once they are revealed, a lot of their reflexes, speed and whatnot go away.

There're so many inconsistencies to Detective Bailey's involvement on top of Gale not discovering Richie' Parents are. At least for Scream 2, Sydney has met Billy's Mom in the past which adds more depth to the Loomis and Prescott lore. Richie's involvement wasn't that deep with Sam since she never met any of Richie's family, and for them to suddenly jump in for revenge doesn't do as well as Scream 2 killer motive.

It makes sense to me personally, that she would leave that closet to possibly kill Ghostface.

Gale might willingly put herself in danger for the sake of a story or a mystery BUT when it comes time for her actual interaction with ghostface, she always runs for the hills to get away. It’s made most clear in Scream 2 and then again in Scream 3 and 4. So since she was placed in immediate danger in her loft, after running and fighting for her LIFE, it makes NO SENSE for her to ONE use up all her bullets from behind the door AND going out the door to go find the killer. It was dumb and not in her character to be this reckless after 6 movies. Again, difference between putting herself in danger for a story and doing dumb shit when she’s actually face to face with the killer.

    What I Did Not Like
I felt the third act was lazy the last movie third act was way better and the motive was just a copy and paste of Mrs. Loomis motive just a sick parent getting revenge on those that was involved in their child death and speaking on Mrs. Loomis I didn't like that Sam didn't even acknowledge Mrs. Loomis who is her grandmother was also a Ghostface Ethan mentioned Mrs. Loomis but Sam only want to acknowledge her father as Ghostface you had two family members as Ghostface. Also Tara and Chad becoming a couple I don't know if I like yet and the fake outs wasn't really done all that good and I felt the excuse of Sidney whereabouts in going into hiding after hearing news Ghostface is back a little bit contradict her role in the last movie.
    What I Did Like
Despite me not liking the motive at all however I do like that the motive has nothing to do with Billy and Stu and I really thought the motive had ties to Stu actually but anyway this the first time the motive revolves around another Ghostface the story revolves around Richie basically he's Billy and his father is Mrs. Loomis with help from Richie brother and sister and we see Richie and Amber motive which I thought was weak about them trying to make their own movie but we see they have followers of that motive trying to finish what they started so we see they made a lot of waves with their motive.
It's a decent movie Scream do not have a single bad installment and 3 is included that's not a bad movie neither but this new installment I'm in between with this and the last movie the tension was really high in this film this time and Sam, Tara, Mindy and Chad are a lot more developed in this movie even though I wish Mindy was killed off but compared to the first time we were introduced to them they got better development but I got to watch this movie at leat two more times seen it twice already but I need more view on it.

my view on the subway scene is the writers knew Mindy was going to be alive at the end so if Ethan lets her die there, then she doesnt make it to the end. Now there are other ways to making her live w/o Ethan like maybe he just leaves her there and someone else intervenes to help Mindy off to medical.
The other theory I have is to make us think Ethan wasnt the killer which does and doesnt make sense. They kept trying to do this like when he said he had an Econ study hall but then was always missing at major plot scenes. Also if Mindy just got stabbed by a ghostface, and Ethan doesnt help then we would know he's connected.
All in all it was for the audience interpretation but plotwise it didnt add up

You’re the police.” And then, “She’s really paranoid and freaked out.” The first dialogue implies she is annoyed with her dad in a way. Maybe he wants her to do something that’s easy for her to do as Sam’s roommate, but she thinks it would make more sense for him to since he is the police. Then her tone in the second piece of dialogue isn’t a concerned one. It just sounds like she’s reporting Sam’s status. It wasn’t a ruse. Regarding Gale's investigative skills in regards to Richie's family.
Remember Richie's name was Richie Kirsch in Scream 5 ---
My theory is that Richie actually changed his last name. It's possible that Gale never found out about Richie's father or his siblings, because Richie's last name was either fake or his mom's maiden name and his background info was either fake or incomplete.
Meanwhile, I think Detective Wayne Bailey's last name is actually Bailey... This explains why Ethan changes his name to Ethan "Landry". So that he wasn't connected to Detective Bailey and his daughter. It wouldn't make sense for Ethan to change his identity from Kirsch to Bailey, only to change it again to Landry.
It's much more likely that Richie changed his last name or had a different last name, hence disconnecting him from his father's side of the family.

I actually guessed the killer's in Scream 5 from the trailers and posters. I'm usually good at predicting who the bad guy is for movies but I had no clue who it was in Scream VI. I originally thought it was maybe Stu because I noticed the hints they threw in this movie but ruled out Ethan because of the Subway scene it made no sense to me. I didn't really notice all the silly moments in the third act because I thinking why did Ethan help Mindy. I also was not surprised that Chad survived. I just had a feeling at the end. I agree he should have died based on how much he was stabbed, plus all of the time that he was laying there bleeding out.

I agree! Too easy to guess the ending, I figured out who the main killer was in the opening scene, too. Then, then his daughter was supposedly killed off screen according to a text message, I knew they were in on it together. During the parks scene where Mindy is giving her Randy-esque monologue (which I didn't like) - I remember wondering if Ethan might end up being Richie's brother. Probably the way they kept bringing him up?

What i’ve been waiting on. Some of my thoughts
    Pros:
Brutal GF. Great opening scene. I was genuinely shocked when they showed the first GF. Some really great chase scenes. I enjoyed the overall story, the new characters were pretty good as well. Melissa Berrera was leaps and bounds better in this one than she was in 5. The NYC setting was really cool, and I enjoyed that Bodega scene. Kirby being back and her being an FBI agent was cool (albeit maybe a little unrealistic lol). The plot was good enough to where I didn’t even think about Sydney until the last 2-3 minutes. The subway scene was great, the tension built and built. Them being separate was convenient sure, but i think it served the plot well. Chad was my favorite character in this entire movie. He really developed since 5, and i found his actual performance was great
    Cons:
I figured out who the killer was like 10 minutes in. When Tara’s new roommate said “when we lost our brother” I immediately went “please dont tell me its richie’s sister”. When she “died” i figured her father just killed her. The brother seemed so suspicious when he handed her those napkins after she got the drink splashed on her. I dont believe Gale was really needed in this entire story, and she suddenly has a new BF who just gets offed immediate lol. The third act. Ooof. It was good until they tried to red herring Kirby into being the killer. The plot armor is wild lol. Chad is fucking dead man. You cannot tell me anything else lolol. Same with Gale lmfao. Also how is mindy still alive? Mindy for me was too forced. You always believed Randy, but with Mindy it feels like a forced character. And lets call a spade a spade. How the fuck do 3 people with 2 knives and a gun not kill 2 completely defenseless people lol. I think it was supposed to be an homage it being in an old theater (ala scream 2) and ofc the cop taking revenge for richie (mrs loomis), but it honestly seemed just a little lazy to me.
Overall i gave it a 7.5. I think its a really really solid movie and is tied with 4 for me for being the 3rd best. I really hope and pray that 7 is it. 7 wraps it up, and its all done.
Edit: the brother of richie disappeared far too much in this movie like Mickey in 2. Now idk if that’s intentional as a nod to 2, or just a plot choice. But further solidified him being a killer

Haven't gotten to the other plot holes yet, but at least that first one with Quinn in the bedroom, I went back and watched it. Nothing in that scene would really detract from the reveal of who the killers are. Ethan was just standing there waiting while Quinn was on the phone with their dad. It looks like looming because he's in full ghostface mode. He gets into position when he hears the guy in the bathroom finishing up. And the only thing Quinn said on the phone was "Yeah I know she's my roommate but you're the police." And then "She's really freaked out and paranoid." So none of that's an indication of what's being discussed. All that said, I don't think it's a plot hole at all. Maybe a little contrived for the movie, but still within the realms of reality.

Really sucks it was so damn obvious. Usually you can guess the killer but can't guess the motivation as this is revealed during the ending monologues. On the first plot hole regarding the apartment, I thought it would have been revealed later on that someone had been recording/monitoring the Core 4 specifically thinking that Sam was the killer and was trying to catch her in the act. That would have played to the social outcast/paranoia themes presented in the early going, and it would have made sense at that point for the killers to use that to their advantage in the case that maybe one of them got outed/revealed that a death wasn't actually true. It never got mentioned again, which sucks because I feel that could have really elevated the idea that the world has got it out for Sam and that she's really in a bind due to the online element, and for me would have made that scene make a lot more sense in hindsight.

on why ethan would not want to reveal his identity as a GF to Mindy after she gets stabbed: She's obviously still alive, so if Ethan acts like GF, she could either tell the cops (when a bystander on the subway inevitably notices her injury gets her help) and call/text everyone to let them know about Ethan, which gives him away and takes away a lot of the power that GFs have by being unidentified. I think it makes perfect sense for him to keep up the charade if he's not 100% sure that she's going to die (which he wasn't) before she gets help or contacts her friends.

    Pros
-Tara and Sam as the lead characters
    -The Setting
    -The increased gore
-The entire Subway Scene (really well done and amps up the anxiety factor)
-The Billy Loomis visions (He was my favorite Ghostface along Stu so maybe some bias here lol)
    Cons
-While kills got gorier, I was expecting more creative kills to take place by the time of a 6th movie and it didn't happen
-Chad came off unnecessarily aggressive towards everyone when it came to protecting Tara
-The whole Chad and Tara Romance thing
-Scream 6 erases the growth that Gale went through in Scream 5 and she goes back to being the annoying journalist
-Identities and motivations of Ghostafaces (With Scream being incredibly self aware I was hoping that they would pick up on who the obvious choices for the killers were and instead go for something bold and creative but I guess not)
-Detective Bailey (Incredibly dull, boring and generic)
-By far my least favorite thing in this movie is how getting stabbed no longer means anything, everyone is surviving and running around despite being stabbed many times or stabbed real deep (A prime example of this would be how we come to find out Chad is perfectly fine after Scream 5 and how he also somehow survives the events of Scream 6)

First of all, great vid. Very in-depth.
For me, the amount of people surviving brutal stab wounds was the biggest problem with this movie. It really bugged me by the end. I'm mixed on the plotholes that you spotted though..
    1) I didn't mind the killers continuing to act in character when they were alone with each other. I can imagine the leader really drumming it into them the importance of not slipping up even once during this film. I bet he made the others stay in character even at the dinner table in the weeks leading up to the film's events. Detectives are sticklers for detail.
    2) Gail not recognising Bailey is hard to explain away. Would she have definitely seen him before though? I'm not 100% tbh so I can just about let it go
    3) I think the killer meant to kill Mindy on the train, and when he didn't, I think he panicked and went back into geek character, just in case some of her friends were running up on the platform. I might need to see this scene again tbh. I think Ethan's indecisive behaviour here though would make more sense in the real world than in a movie (where generally character actions are supposed to be clear cut and easy to follow).
    4) Sam allowing the leader the chance to get up and having one last end game was pure bullshit. Totally agree

I believe that Stu very much could be alive. In Scream 5 they have Dewey mention that Stu “IS” a killer not “WAS” & they made it intentional to point out that Stu was the 2nd killer in the opening. Then in Scream 6 aside from Kirby and Mindy’s talk about Stu possibly being alive they had Ghostface tell Gale something along the lines of We haven’t officially spoken to each other. Yeah that could be Quinn but I don’t think it is.
Also if you rewatch Dewey’s death scene and listen carefully it’s not Amber he’s fighting. Dewey is walking Richie to the door when Ghostface attacks. The grunts that are coming out of Ghostface when Dewey is fighting him off at the hospital are Male.
I think Stu killed Dewey in Scream 5 & since nether her not Richie knew who that was Amber took the credit of killing Dewey.
Stu also tried to kill Gale in her chase scene and almost succeeded. In the first Scream Stu knew she was in his home but never interacted with Gale. Tatum kicked her out seconds later hence “We never officially spoke to each other” comes in. Maybe I’m off but it wouldn’t surprise me if Stu isn’t focused on anyone new and is just going after the original trio each time a new Ghostface appears. In Scream 5 no one was REALLY after Sidney, Gale, or Dewey. Dewey just got involved with Sam’s situation and both Sidney & Gale put themselves in that situation after his death.
