Nikon WC-E68 wide angle converter; you’ll need a 49mm-46mm step down adapter with a filter, but it gives you about a 24mm equivalent on the x100 series. I seriously love it, and only spent about $40 USD to get the full setup. I would definitely give it a shot as a alternative to the WCL, I have seriously loved the slightly wider view and of course the cheaper price!
Oh wow! I never knew about this option?! how are the optics? send me some examples on my insta!
Also consider the WCL-X70, it also gives a 26mm FOV.
But you can’t beat the Nikon’s price, I may have to cop that myself
I have both adapters tcl and wcl. Not necessary as an x100 shooter and I have considered selling them, but I like having the complete x100 set. I currently shoot with a xt2 with mitakon 35mm 0.95 and the x100f with wcl and the ef-20 flash. I like the set up.
The wcl has good close focusing distance and also does portraits and scenes well. It’s as versatile as the 23mm lens.
Nice set up! I was looking at the Mitakon 35mm f0.95 for my filmmaking! is it worth it? I know what you mean! sometimes its just nice to have the collection haha
The contacts on the adaptor is actually a magnate that lets the camera detects that you have attached an adaptor. The older version of the adaptor has no magnet so you have to manually tell the camera that you have attached the adaptor.
I've been using an earlier model of this conversion lens for several years on my X100S; I love the focal length and have no problems with image quality.
100% agree! That was the one I tried out originally before I got this one
Great shots from the protest, makes me wish I vlogged for the protest we had in Newcastle and thanks for this review Leo, it’s something I would consider purchasing.
Thank you my dude! it was defiantly worth it! I always seem to miss these protests when they happen haha!
Dude I’ll not make that mistake again. Great photos man
Wow very cool little lit showcase box you got. You made that? Jelly.. I also have the WCL since I had my X100F years ago and I never sold it even though I sold the camera. I knew I would buy another X100 in the future. And I was right, so I have my V now and could continue to use it. Definitely the best to use in crowds. I also love they kept the 49mm filter thread with it for filters.
Haha why thank you! I got it from a magical please...Ikea! 20 bucks! do they have one in Japan? See I'd probably do the same! And it worked out for you too cuz you back in the fuji gang! haha bro your collection is to much for me! you're going to make me broke haha
Nice video. I'd definitely Consider this adapter after watching this 😂
Would be cool to see a video of how you set up your x100v for street shooting too 👌
Thank you! haha!
I will be putting one together soon! so hopefully you'll get some use out of it :)
Nice coverage of both the protest and the lens adapter review. You are right, the adapter on the X100V does look cool.
What's really nice is the upgrade which allows us to use the digital telephoto with raw+jpeg turned on...and the way Fuji processes the jpeg telephotos is great (on no other camera do I use digital telephoto). So without WCL the digital tele goes from 35 to 50 to 70mm (35mm equiv), whereas with the WCL I believe the equivalents are 28 to 41 to 58mm. Really fun camera anf yes, the WCL is worth it.
Thank you! I was a crazy day haha.
These adapters are great! it definitely makes the x100 series alot more versatile
4:57 I'm currently using a Canon WC-DC58 0.8x on the x100v: optically fully coated and it's simply as if were not there, so you won't lose image quality. The adapter comes with some limitation: it has no magnetic connection (like the old WCLmkl) so you need to remember to switch the lens correction manually in the Q menu. The lens is also larger then the WCL100, about the size of a TCL100, but at least the body is plastic so it's about the same weight, may be still a tad more. It also lacks a thread in the front so you cannot apply a filter (you could technically put one between the adapter and the camera through) or a lenshood; you also need the filter ring and a 49->58 adapter on the X100 to mount the canon converter as it comes with a male filter thread on the back.
It usually comes cheaper then the Fuji one so if you are not sure of how uselful a 28mm could be, IQ is the same for a lower price and a bit more bulk.
One of the quirky things of Portland, OR is the small city blocks. Zooming with one’s feet is often not an option and after using a 35mm Summicron / M4-2 with FP4 for years, I added an X100V to the street kit with the WCL adapter. With the new 1.4/18mm lens going to be $1,000, the adapter seemed like the better option for most street work here. So far, I’m happy.
Its crazy how you can buy that whole set up and still be cheaper than the leica lens haha....but it is a leica soooo :)
i would love to pick one up. i like the 28mm FOV
I'm slowly slowly liking it more! I also gives me room to have a bit more flexibility in post
@@leoorlandogalang thats true. the ability to crop and reframe in post is kind of improved with a wider FOV. would love to test it vs my Q2
Is it worth it, no... No, not because it's not worth it but simply because I already have a 28mm lens, in the form of the XF10.
What is worth it for me, is to buy the TCL-100 II to give me the equivalent of a 50mm on my X100V.
The TCL-100 II does look a bit daft as it's so big. It is worth it to get a 50mm...
See I would love to pick up a XF10! but the prices seem to be raising like the Xpro1! Nice! if only they managed to fit the 50mm focal length into a slimmer frame.. Or am I asking to much haha
miss you
Can't believe I just saw this haha 😂 miss you too! Once NY is back open for foreigners I'll be coming through 👌
