a super question, how is it possible to adapt old lenses to this type of camera?
@@davidvallejo9184 hey! Simply type in Amazon the mount from the lens you want to the camera mount you have. For example - I have a m mount Leica lens that i want to use on my Fuji camera. I’ll type in Amazon “Leica mount to Fuji x converter” and the adapter are roughly 20-40 bucks. This is good when buying amazing cheap vintage glass!
What's up with that hat old mate, you been on the prawn trawler?
I like how the title of this video is a joke. 😂 The SD1000 is one of the most popular digicams out there, so popular that it has become quite expensive.
Haha to be fair I did make this video before the digi revolution exploded again 😂 I get a lot of comments on my older videos that have out of date statement about something
GM1 for £74 ??????? WHERE?????
Use a gx 80 for the same reasons, it comes every where with me
MPB put one of those up just recently for more than £400, the slightly bigger and heavier GX800 is probably a better choice today and quite a bit cheaper.
3 years later is £426…
Damn 🫠 gone are the days of “cheap” cameras
£500-600 used now in 2024 :(
I saw! I’m not going to lie I wish I didn’t sell that camera! Much prefer it over the X100V
I was wondering where you got that leather case for the Xpro1? seems really hard to come by these days.
I was lucky to find an unopened one on eBay for £15! I’ve seen them floating around Facebook marketplace!
@@leoorlandogalang wish me luck lol ive been scrolling around for a week now and cant seem to find one.
@@dennisD.. sending the luck! 🍀
I feel like this camera and any rangefinder excels more for portraits and or street photography.
For me the GM1 is a no go. It lacks an EVF. The GM5 does have the EVF and is still small. Small body=small battery =short battery life. Yes, buy extra batteries. Batteries are cheap and small. Mask On Nurse Marty(Ret)
Actually, these days the GM1 alone is over 300 pounds!
get the E-m5 or other olympus camera way cheaper
I have Sony full frame gear, and it’s not as sharp as those at F2 for sure, but it is still sharp enough and I don’t think anyone would really notice or care unless you zoom in.
Just the square make the x100vi water resistant ?
Now here in 2024 with the release of the VI, I hope soon the prices for both the 100 and 100s drop even more
Me too!
4:17 Its a nice lens and I love it! But in full frame terms, it technically becomes a 40mm f3.4
Look's like bad agitation or small amount of chemistry
Does the GM1 have ibis?
Unfortunately not! I know it’s slightly bigger, but check out the GX80 or GX7 which is older but cheaper ✌️
"...for about £70..." Er, not anymore mate!😵💫 I have 2 though and, yes, they are excellent!
Ads too long at start.
Annoying music
Unwatchable. Drop the background music.
I have a Canon Ixus 100s which I enjoy using. £10 paid
The B&W on my M8 is just out of this world good. But the color has always been a source of annoyance for me. Thinking of buying the X100V as the color companion to the M8. Great comparison.
great video, can someone tell me if i can put the lens hood directly on the adapter of the weather kit? Thanks☺️
I think you either had the ND Filter on by mistake or you really need to higher the iso, the shots are good but youre just not getting enough light in.
the "wave" on the film. I had this happen to me on a roll i was very excited about. What I can guess is that, like me, maybe you tried to sneak a 25th or 37th shot in and the shutter half cocked and didn't completely cycle the shutter. So you just rewound the film, exposing every frame to the sliver of light bleeding through the shutter. This is just a guess I could be wrong but I will never try to squeeze an extra shot when shooting the canon 7
I enjoyed your video!! I have started using some compact cameras for my shooting in place of my cell phone. I have several compact digital cameras. I have the Canons SD1100 & SD1200IS and the S90. I have Nikon Coolpix S4300 and S5600, Olympus FE 170, and a Kodak Easy Share M577 which I really enjoy because it has a Schneider Lens and I like the film filter that is built into it. I can select Kodachrome, Ektachrome, Kodacolor and then I have B&W settings of T-Max and Tri-Max and then have Sepia. Most of these cameras I purchased at a garage sale or thrift stores. Best of luck in your photography journey. Best, Duane
truly enjoyed listening
Make sure you have the latest firmware too for lense and body
I have two of this … Amazing. When I am with my family I paired one with the 42.5 mm f/1.7 for portraits and the other with the 25 mm f1.7 As it’s tiny I just have a little mini bag to switch faster between the 2 and keep the 20mm also. Amazing.
Were you using a Patterson 3-reel tank with only 2 reels in it? The reels may have floated up part way through development if that was the case.
What thumb grip were u using. Is the xpro 3 one compatible?
It should be in the description, but I would need to double check if it’s compatible!
I've been using an earlier model of this conversion lens for several years on my X100S; I love the focal length and have no problems with image quality.
100% agree! That was the one I tried out originally before I got this one
S95 is the best compact. 28-105 f2, RAW, 1/1.7 ccd and great ibis
I’ll need to check it out!
@@leoorlandogalang i sent one to digicam revival. Check his review
Very good for a older camera
I just acquired an ixus sd780, as small as a credit card! Small cameras are just amazing and less intimidating
Nice one! Let me know how you find it
@@leoorlandogalang i was scouring the local forums here in Malaysia. So far i got a canon sd780, a lumix TZ7, and a canon s100 which is yet to be sent from my home town. There’s some kind of treasure hunt satisfaction finding these old camera in good working condition!!!
Do you know how this compares to the ixus 75? I have one on the way.
As far as I can tell its just the 75 has a better LCD
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I recently started using my 10 year old Canon Ixus 510 HS again, the size of it is amazing!
I did this way too many times it's the way you load the film try to not touch the center as much especially with your Fingers
I remember buying this camera back in my university days. It was £200 at John Lewis. Took it everywhere, house parties, vacation and everyday stuff. It also has this awful setting that I used to like - selective colour, where you pick a colour example red and everything else is in black and white. Yes that was the trend back then 😅 I still have it. Will take it for a spin one day.
Defiantly should! Go have fun with it!
Your pics didn't look that great to me, to be honest. The Ixus 70, as reviewed by others at the time, 2007-8, was one of the lesser IXUS cameras in the Canon range.
Thanks for the feedback! oh really thats good to know! may have to hunt the others down also 😀
Thanks for showing some love for the GM1 and GM5! I had a GRIIIx and found the autofocus a little frustrating in anything but bright light. The image quality was not noticeably better on the GR, and the battery life on the GR was even shorter than on the GM cameras. I use a GX850 or GX9, which also have tilting screens. MFT rules for street photography. The prices are a bit higher for the GM cameras in 2023, but still worth it.
I just bought a Gx7 (specifically for street photography)... I'll be pairing it with a manual focus 17mm TTartisans... For the street photography... The GX7 is small enough to really be non-intimidating. That's what attracted me to it... To always have a camera on me.
@@DavidGriffin I have a GX7, too. One of the best-designed cameras, ever. Very secure and comfortable to hold.
@@skfineshriber too bad Panasonic quit making compact cameras. I think they made to many. 50 different models makes it hard to have one good camera... It's the reason people don't look at Panasonic like they do Fuji.
ive got an ixus 80 is and i paid sub 10€ for it.
bargain!
Channels like yours are gonna make me go broke, wanting to run out and buy up all these cool old cameras! haha Great content, Leo
Haha I’m so sorry! But at the same time I’m glad you enjoy my content :)
The small Canon compacts and particularly the Ixus range are superb, genuinely pocketable little cameras. The camera set up is a doddle and the menus simplicity itself. I love them and I have about four I think. Great cameras. (Not a fan of the distracting muzak).
It was actually shocking how good these were, especially comparing them to similar camera around the same time!
Great looking images. Love shooting with small sensor compacts but I’d probably spend a bit more and get the Canon S100 or a Panasonic LX5 , which can be found for around 100 usd, or better yet, the original Ricoh GR which are double that price but feel amazing in hand. Good stuff.
Appreciate the love! There is a sense of freedom! It's great using something that's not complicated and is at the literal sense a point and shoot camera
100%. And taken a step further, big fan of the recent movement of digicam / LoFi images from older, often CCD sensor compacts a la digicam.love
S100 is nice but you don't get the CCD sensor that gives you those wonderful film-like colors.
What about starting time and shutter lag on that camera? I know it's a stretch to demand low shutter lag from such an old camera, but that parameter is crucial in street photography with the decisive moment all that fuss 😄
From what I can see the leg is minimal at best. It also depends on how hard the processor has to work, for example in low-light scenarios you make it a bit of sacrifice because camera is trying to keep up with the lack of light
@@leoorlandogalang that's surprising to hear given the camera's age. I guess I should pull the trigger and buy one when they are still at 15 bucks and not wait until they're at 150 😅
@@androoy.p They are $300 now 😂
where did u purchase this?
