WHY AM I DONG IT THIS WAY?
A lot of channels do Patreon or TH-cam Memberships at a cost to the viewer which puts a lot of content behind a paywall, meaning it is pay to view, and a large amount of the subscriber base miss out on a lot of content, or the quality of the content available to non members reduces. I don’t like this approach.
My way - EVERY one will get to see ALL content. If you aren’t in a position to donate - you still get to see ALL content and your current experience of the channel will NOT change at all. If you do want to support the channel then you get to decide how I prioritise the videos.

“If I killed someone for you” is also a good one to go through as a therapist!
Rather than going to a therapist I listen to this song for therapy
Alec Benjamin is so underrated but he is the reason I paid for Spotify premium
I am surprised I haven't come across him before. I liked this and will check out more. I'm pleased you have found something to connect with that helps.
Same here
@@TherapistReactsOfficial He has some really popular songs that most people don't know its him so maybe you have but if you haven't he has some really sad songs and some really upbeat parts in them
I recommend his song "let me down slowly" hes a great artist and wonderful person
Thanks for the recommendation - I've added this to my saved playlist to check out.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial listen to the Wolf and the sheep by Alec Benjamin. You might figure out why he needed a therapist in the first place.
@@TherapistReactsOfficialOr minds a prison if you haven't already done it
@@TherapistReactsOfficialnow that i think of it his songs are probably all great to react to especially the album "these two windows"
@@TherapistReactsOfficial 😕I got this song and I got a booklet with it and it says the therapist is saying he's hear it all before so like nothing the guy says can shock him no more
his song “gotta be a reason” is amazing
Literally my favorite song of his
Definitely going to check out more
If you liked this song, Alec wrote another one called "Demons", which is also very interesting, one of my personal favorites, and it talks about some sort of attachment style, since it talks about how he has "demons", and some person, the listener supposedly, is the only one who knows and keeps him from doing something... Rash, I suppose one could say.
I'll check that out, thanks for the recommendation.
This track is a fun take on Freud’s free association and a fun play on how trauma/issues can passed on from one person to another (usually generationally or within peer groups) but in this case the twist being that it isn’t the client passing it on, it’s the therapist. It plays off the adage that most therapist choose therapy as a career path because they need it or have had therapy themselves for their own traumas; and that sometimes their own issues can reassert themselves whilst dealing with a particular difficult client’s issues or after long days of dealing with multiple stressful clients.
So true…
The fact that Alec got the idea for this song, because one day he was at therapy, and he actually said something that made the look on his therapist a little strange.
I really love how he just tells his stories through music ❤
"mind is a prison" and "im not a cynic" from alec benjamin are good songs too
"Alec what have you done?" Made me laught so hard. Your video was very amazing. I've been listening this to song on loop for a few days now. I never thought about what he said to mess everthing up so fast, now I'm curios too 😂😬
Thanks for the kind words and glad you liked it.
My tops of Alec-

This song is like the sequel to boy in the bubble where the boy in the bubble goes to therapy so hope that helps y'all also can you do therapy session by NF if you haven't already
Therapy session is already on my channel - that was good track! Ill check out boy in the bubble
No this is the sequel to the Wolf and the sheep
His song "Must’ve Been The Wind" is my favorite.
❤❤❤ also one of my best but love water fountain more
Hey yall :)
I know some of you may not know Alec Benjamin so here is a quick explanation
Alec Benjamin is a well known singer who has been doing music for the past 14 years and makes songs mostly about traumatic experiences like relationships and life.
He has very few songs that are actually happy or at least have a nice upbeat song to it.
If you are interested in hearing some of his music, here are some of my own personal recommendations :)
Gotta be a reason
Cynic
Older
Speaker
Worst day of my life
Mind is a prison
if you have any questions please feel free to ask or search it up for yourself :)
Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard of him prior to this request and I like checking out artists I haven't heard before especially ones with a mental health theme (as the title suggests).
The song is called I’m not a cynic
He has officially two happy songs they’re called if we have each other and tie my laces
Some of my favorites are Collins house, be my enemy dopamine addict different kind of beautiful end of the summer army of a nation medicine, man
Just a small warning is voice changes
When your therapist gives up on you after gaining your trust it does put you off reaching out for help again.
I can only imagine how hard that must be.
Yes, it's why I turned to music for therapy. Love Alec Benjamin and NF specifically
I live in Germany and I went to serval different therapy forms. Behavioral therapy, psychoanalytical/depth psychology and atm I am going to systemic therapy. And each one has their up- and downsides. And indeed the psychoanalytical therapist used a couch like this. I was very irritated at first because he offered to ways the couch and a normal chair. When I was laying on the couch he sat beside the headpiece and I was looking away from him. I only had a few sessions. But when I asked him why he explained it to me like this: many people with trauma or other psychiatric illnesses like to interpret the mimic and gesture of the therapist which can lead to misconceptions. And it helps to stay by yourself at therapy. And tbh I guess this was something I benefit from this sessions.
To your other question: I am a social worker working for a social psychiatric service atm and my assumption is that patients say this to therapist to prepare them and to make clear they suffered. And some really made the expirence to be 'too complicated' or 'too traumatised' for the therapists (actually a friend of mine has this situation twice). And surely there are many people who learned that they need to let other people feel good or don't be a burden to them.
I my opinion everyone can benefit from therapy no matter what they've gone through in live or what kind of profession they have. Because usually we don't learn in school how to process, show and recognise our feelings, the experiences we have and so on. At least not here in Germany as I know.
Thank you so much for your videos and the open minded and honest reactions.
Thanks for sharing. It is amazing that in schools we aren't taught (or teaching) how to process emotions etc. Also thanks for sharing your experience of psychoanalytic therapy, it is something that I don't know much about however am going to learn more about. Thanks for being a social worker - can often be a thankless task with a lot to carry in return so just wanted to acknowledge the hard work you are doing.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial this comment really means a lot to me. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work and try to stay so reflected, kind and honest. You seem to be such a genuine person. ❤️
about 7:35 : personally, I do.. when my friends tell me they struggle I always tell them to talk to their therapist about it no matter WHAT IT IS but when I struggled with 'hard' stuff, especially thoughts of unaliving myself, I just wasn't able to tell my therapist about it, because I didn't want her to worry, or to feel like she 'failed' helping me (she was already treating me for depression for about a year at that time), or that she blames herself in case I have an attempt or anything of the sort..
Take a look on his song "Dopamine Addict" that is very well sang.
See whenever I listen to this song everytime I heard the lyric "I heard it all before" I always think it's the therapist saying it, I never once thought the patient was saying it
I've been in therapy on and off since 13 (24 now). As a teen I was never taken seriously and put in so many situations by professionals I never should've been in. They had no clue what to do with me and it just felt either fake or cruel. Things are much better now. My conditions are chronic but under control with meds and a very good psychologist and psychiatrist. Better times are just around the corner, I promise you.
😅 This song is true for me, but I don't remember what i said as i was talking to a female therapist. She never said it out loud, but she quit the day after talking to me. I found out from the staff that she's now taking therapy herself for what one of her patients said. In more ways than 1, my life is a Nightmare. No that's not a mistake, I have been talking to Nightmares (FNaF 4) in my dreams since I was 4. I even named him Nightmare due to his looks, which you should look up. Somehow, i named Nightmare and had chats with him before he was even in a game. He's friendly with me, but i can never remember what we talked about during the night. While at mental hospitals, they basically used me as a test subject for mediation. Nightmare kept me sane during this, despite the problems it caused with memory loss and basically becoming a robot that does anything you tell it to, then has no recollection of anything it has done. Ill tell you more if you want to chat, but slowly. I don't want to have another therapist who's too overwhelmed and ends up quitting.😂😅
My favourite of his songs is "the knife in my back" but it's unreleased so there isn't an official music video...but you can find the song on youtube
I struggled with the title😂😂, love the vid❤
Yeah. Such a strange and confusing title...
"Therapist reacts to Alec Benjamin" would be better.
Hmmm. I might change it then. I have to get the song title and artist in there for the search engine, but you are right there is probably a better way to write it.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial Didn’t mean to be a bother😂, keep up the amazing content mate👍🏻❤️
You should change it to therapist reacts to I sent my therapist to therapy by Alec Benjamin
YAY ALEC BENJAMIN !!! I LOVE ALEC BENJAMIN :3
That is good to hear. I always have a bit of an anxious feeling when I step away from my usual artists so its nice to hear people welcoming this!
You might want to edit that

You should react to "Dance With The Devil" by immortal technique.
Very heavy song, lots to unpack there.
I'd love to see a therapist react to that song.
Just added that to my saved my playlist to check out. Thanks for the recommendation
This song hit real hard for me because I have had two therapists tell me they are not qualified to help, and one of them told me two others also wouldn't be a good choice for my specific situation. I'm pro-therapy, my own experience just hasn't been stellar, even after I've been able to sort out the financial issues that always happen... It's wild. I appreciate your views.
Great review, this was entertaining to watch. I know it’s one of his more popular songs but on the topic of Alec Benjamin, May I recommend paper crown, it’s a beautiful metaphorical depiction of trust/trauma and if you analyze the metaphors, or just think about the lyrics deeper, I think it could also fit the theme of your channel.
What if the notepad saying "I need help" is a double meaning where Alec needs help and no one seems to be able to help him.
Sometimes we need several therapists who specialize in different traumas and mental illnesses. Or that's been my experience so far.. idk
It also makes me think about how some people can't support others as like a generalization because it makes them face emotions that they can't carry (which isn't a therapist's norm ofc but in the gen public it can).
I can't remember now if I mentioned it in this reaction but I have often thought before that having more than one therapist can be helpful. Or having a break and then returning to a different therapist, but same modality, can also be helpful as it can get a different perspective on things. However, I do understand that going through the trust / safety building phase again can be incredibly difficult. I guess with all things related to therapy it highly depends on the individual and what their needs are etc.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial oh yea, that's a very good point. Which kinda circles back to other things you mentioned in the reaction too, finding a good fit can be difficult and can push ppl away from finding help. Yep, very true.
@@TherapistReactsOfficial thanks for this video. I love thinking through these perspectives with you.
Alec has so many amazing songs that I think you would have great insight into!
I was just listening to I Sent My Therapist to Therapy and this video popped up after
Thats cool, the youtube gods must like my video to recommend it to others!
Fun fact I’m schizophrenic and I actually had no therapist to help me this is a bit relatable for some reason. And I love to actually see a therapist/psychotherapist react to artists/singers It’s not everyday you come across this. This is actually so entertaining and makes me feel happier for some reason, especially how your explaining the way you are, it makes it more understanding and entertaining if you ask me. Ps alec Benjamin is such a good artist, I love his songs
And i recommend
I wait for you -Alex G or just any Alex G song‼️
Thanks for the comment and I am glad you find these helpful. Ill check out Alex G
@@TherapistReactsOfficial no problem! Any time, great to know! 😄
My couch is very simple; it’s a dusty brown couch; sags when you sit on it; it’s very comfy. I don’t get one of the fancy chaise lounges he got lmao 😂
This is one of my favourite songs!
Not to get off track but that couch looks lowkey comfy
Yes, I try to avoid it during the working day as I'll never get off it!
I had a theory... what if the first Alec that went to therapy at the beginning of the song was a therapist... that could explain why he says the line: "I've heard it all before" at 2:54.
I just listened to an older Ren song and you have to make a video on this masterpiece. The song is Ren - Penitence Ft. Molly Mckinna, I am lost for words for how incredibly this song, like many others from Ren is.
Edit: Just wanted to add that I really enjoy your reactions including this one, keep up the great work. You always give me things to think about.
Not heard of that one so I will check it out. Thanks.
Man, Alec has saved my life many many times. THerapy however, has not.
My mind instantly went to a series called dexter... Dexter in therapy could have said something along the lines "hey doc I just murdered your family and now want to talk about it since I found out you are an expert in emotions". But other than that... ye don't know. I'm at min 12:42 just now so I'll watch the rest now but you wanted us to drop suggestions ^^
I’ve never watched Dexter. I know what it’s about and I’m really intrigued by it. It’s just one of those series I’ve never got round to watching and then forgot about. Might give it a try at some point soon.
That's bad news if you've caused your therapist to seek therapy, which causes the therapist's therapist to seek therapy! Sheesh! I've seen some *really* scarey clients/crazies, though I wasn't compelled to seek 'supervision'. Besides, in the worst case, the Police thankfully relieved me of my burden ... for life, or until he does himself in, gets killed by a fellow psychopathic cellie, or drops dead before then. (Promising penal opportunities 🙄.) I had a leather chair very similar to that (second hand, mint condition) for client visits. When I retired, it retired and came home with me, and I sit in it now even less than when we worked together (and it's STILL in mint condition ... the chair, not me. I wore out.) Anyway, my love enjoys it.
(I considered therapy a must, though I can't truthfully say that I've missed it ... at all!)
You should listen to the band called citizen soldier, which makes songs about all kinds of mental problems and those are really relatable
I’ve been through 8 therapist saying they couldn’t help me and I feel like giving up on it
❤❤❤❤❤ Alec is one of the best artists
Alec Benjamin song are inspiring and his lyric are easy to understand some of his songs are;
Devil doesn't bargain
Let me down slowly
If we have each other
This is a good reaction lol
He has been to therapy actually his old therapist tried to sue him I think but he didn't mention names so he released the song and I think his therapist stopped trying to sue but im not sure thats the full story
Oh wow, didn’t know that…

I had a slightly similar experience. I went to a therapist who told me they were ill-equipped to deal with the level of trauma I'd experienced. She at least told me what type of therapy to look for. Still, it left me feeling more broken than I already did.
Thanks for sharing. I guess it’s good she was honest, sounds like she maybe could have phrased it better though. Or somehow left more of a feeling of hope rather than more broken though!
I love this song hes an awesome person and i love is music❤❤
3:41 ,he have heard it all before from his parents, friends, and ever random person who judge him.
Try listening to All in by Marino, he's underrated but very good
You should react to his song how it feels be to replaced! It’s on his TH-cam channel but not on Spotify!
You should listen to "different kind of beautiful".beautiful song
Nothing can replace Alex's "mmmmmm"'s ;)
I think part of the people mentioning the therapist would need therapy after their appointment might also be partially them trying to regulate the emotions for the therapist or help them because they are used to thay being their role
I recommend listening to his song “if I killed someone for you”
Please check out his song "Devil Doesn't Bargain." Talks about what it's like watching someone in a toxic relationship trying to 'fix him.'
Ok but if you listened to the rest of his music you would understand why his therapist needs therapy
Please react to The Kid Laroi's music, he's a 19year old australian rapper/singer who was happily in a relationship with a girl for over 3 years, but she cheated on him with another guy and left him alone, as a escape he's doing music. I would recommend to you to listen to his newest album "The First Time", where he tells us the thoughts he had and the stories they made in 17 songs (and 3 interludes) in 1 very good album. I think other people would also like to see you reacts to it.
You should listen to his BOY IN THE BUBBLE and MIND IS A PRISON, and you can that song.
Please react to Ren's Sick Boi and Hi Ren
You should listen to his other music to he's really good
Please react to Godspeed by Mac miller. It’s one of the Saddest rap songs ever especially given what happened to Mac.
You should do more of Alec Benjamin
No, it is the therapists therapist. 16:05

I’ll check it out
No pressure btw there are a lot of recommendations so i fully get it if my one doesn't make it through :)
I think you should totally get into lil peep he’s my favourite
I can tell that by your username! Yep more Peep on the way. I really liked Life is Beautiful!
10:56 you will surely face problem with treating someone who is doing everything right and still failing, Because of something they can't control(as human: being a lump of thinking [rotting flesh]).

Rockstar in his prime juice wrld would be a great song to cover
Scratch that, although it’s a great song and I’d love a reaction, fighting demons might be a more insightful song to react to
This one was pretty good. Are you releasing more Lil Peep soon?
Yes I have more XXX, Juice and lil peep on the way soon. I have to time them around record labels and copyright otherwise it puts the channel at risk of too many copyright strikes in one go and then losing the channel.
I don't mean to say this as an offense but I don't really trust therapists I tried to talk to one once they actually made it worse.
i recommend xxxtentacion train food plzzzz love your vids keep doing what u doing

Yes, I think it’s where I am saying Alec’s as in meaning something belongs to Alec (I.e. Alec’s opinion) it’s impossible to say that without it sound like Alex.
@@TherapistReactsOfficiali think they thought you said alex because at one point you said alec's and repeated the 's' at the end so it sounded like you said alex's but it was just once :)
