We just bought our XC 40 similar to the one he was driving. We love it. Has a lot of power like he mentioned. Very high tech with all kinds of safety features. Ours is red with white interior.
I'm looking at the xc40 as my next ev after selling my model 3. Based on the reviews it seems like its a more premium vehicle over the model y. How have you liked it so far?
How's the ongoing maintenance and servicing cost? I had an X4 BMW and that did pinch my pocket a lot
@@blenditlikethat9158 it’s still under the factory service. Free up to 30K. We have owned BMW and VW. So we are use to the maintenance costs. When you don’t have a car payment. It’s easier on the budget to pay the maintenance costs.

I really like the XC40 and used to look at buying one but get disappointed every year that they kept that stupid thumb hurting steering wheel design. The steering wheel on the XC60 is excellent in comparison with full leather cover over the metal/plastic frame but on the XC40 NOOOOOO Volvo had to make another kind of steering wheel with a tiny bit of leather over the (very) sharp frame where the palm side of your thumbs naturally rests. Personally it's a deal breaker, I notice it the instant I grab the steering wheel.
Maybe my hands are just wrong :(

Compared to BMW X1? The XC 40 is about $5K-$15K more expensive comparably equipped. The XC40 is a bit smaller, but poorer gas mileage, bit slower, bit less nimble in steering, bit less comfortable. I think the question is whether the difference in frills are worth the extra dough. Because the basics aren’t much different.
You forgot about safety. Volvo revolves around safety, that is their selling point. The materials and design of their safety cage Is different from other vehicles.

I had to drive this XC40 as a rental for 1000 miles. It’s a piece of crap for a number of reasons. In addition to poor fuel mileage and range, the cruise control sucks, as does the digital instrument cluster. The engine and transmission are clunky. I bet it falls apart before 80k miles. And I hate it when they place the fuel door on the wrong side.
For that type of money I would not by this and your going to visiting volvo services alot

Not too different from the Mazda CXs
IMO, the back seat and trunk space feels cramped in the Mazda compared to the Volvo

Yes they are. However, Volvo is owned at 78% by GEELY a CHINESE manufacturer. If Geely says we make it THIS way, that's the way it's going to be made. So when I say Chinese, I MEAN Chinese. It's not because Bjorn put it together that it is quality. Quality starts with the main ingredients. And as we well know the Chinese are NOTORIOUS for cutting corners and cheapening things. So I stand by my Snipe at Volvo. They are Chinese owned. Cheers

@@sarge27271 Japan's market share in EVs is very small. They do make batteries for Teslas via Panasonic and other battery suppliers. Teslas did have battery fires,but less now.
