If he were to watch all 19 seasons, as objectively and rationally as Kody is capable of (and believe me, I HIGHLY question any capability on Kody's part to be objective and rational at this point), and he sees how, when, and why things deteriorated, and how HIS BEHAVIOR towards the OG3 vs. Robyn, and Robyn's manipulation, was at the center of it all, then add Garrison's recent suicide to the mix, Kody would feel like the world's biggest asshole and the guilt would eat him alive from the inside out. It would be too much for him, if he were able to see things objectively and think / act rationally.

The thing with narcissist is, they tend to have a golden person in their family. The one who’s perfect the one who loves them the way that they like to be loved and this person gets all the best that person has to offer. They also get to be ahead of everyone else because they Are treated so much better than the other people they feel good about themselves but when the other people leave and now the golden person has to deal with the narcissist all on their own they get to meet the person that everyone else has been dealing with.

Also, about Hillbilly Elegy - my mother is from WV, but we never lived there and were never around her family all that much. After reading Hillbilly Elegy I understood soooo much more about her. JD Vance did an amazing job perceiving and understanding the dynamic of his people, it is a very real thing. My father's people were of the Mississippi Delta, another very real and particular people. Don't be tempted to dismiss, disbelieve, or belittle when reading the book. It takes us all awhile to figure out how families and places have fed into us who we are now.
You need to understand the AUB. These people marry for eternity. Meri was the only one that went to the church for an official end to her marriage. Keep in mind, when she filed for a legal divorce, Kody said to Meri and Janelle that nothing would change. You have to come to that realization in your own time sometimes it just takes more time. I really enjoyed this video (watching from Canada, hello!). David, I think you nailed it there. I DO think Robyn wanted the big family, but as a human (opinions aside)-wanted the top spot….but oblivious to the impact. Now that Kody has ruined the other relationships because he was smitten with Robyn…they were bad for each other. Not the way I initially thought, but they fed each others insecurity or something. Kody had someone fawning over him and telling him he’s amazing (I don’t get the sense his dad was super soft)…aka he’s looking for someone to a) give the A+ but also b) “save”, which he was desperate for…which would also explains his ‘saving’ her daughters-he’s healing the inner child. And shee (wanted to) feel safe with a big family-which she tried so desperately to create….and won, but again…in doing so, ripped the big family safety net she finally had. And if she’s that internally terrified…maybe also why her children are so frightened. Then Kodys behavior became so awful through the years because he is constantly being misjudged, which in his mind is the opposite of him (aka trying to ‘save’) and give his all….again, perspective. If this is close at alll, it’s giving me another perspective on to rationalizing this stuff…..It’s distorted… but as I have started therapy myself (thanks Top Psyc and Psychology in Seattle)!!…I’m learning about myself and that perspective is something! The seasons are always so far behind. Season 19, Christine is dating David. They met in late 2022. They got married about 10 months later in 2023. Now, we're in the 2nd part of 2024 while watching what was going on in 2022.

The difference in how Meri looks when she's talking to Kody and her couch interview is crazy. That is stress weight and depression weight she lost. Not just that, but her overall demeanor just looks happier.

Kody stopped maintaining the relationships except for his and Robyns. Kody stopped showing up and being kind to Meri. Kody stopped being kind and romantic with Christine, and I don't know about Janelle. Maybe he just stopped showing up.

Keep in mind, when she filed for a legal divorce, Kody said to Meri and Janelle that nothing would change. There are many women, put out to pasture after childbearing age or inability to bear children. Meri was both.

I will add my thoughts about Kody saying that it's her fault if he doesn't love her: this seems consistent with the Fundamentalist Mormon polygamists' teachings that women must "keep sweet" and earn affection from their husbands by behaving properly. Remember he told Janelle that they could have that romantic marriage relationship if she started treating him with respect (like Robyn).

Robyn wanted to be queen bee... but only with the whole hive. I don't think she wants Kody 24/7. That's a nightmare for her. She still has small kids and no help like the other wives had. No pooled money to buy her houses. Just Kody. If it weren't for the trail of destruction behind them, this would be hilarious.
It's difficult for 2 narcissists to be in a happy, healthy relationship and that's the Robyn & Kody dynamic. Robyn has always said she wanted a poly marriage and now she's stuck with Kody 😂 I definitely think she was more attracted to being on the show and becoming the alpha female because it feeds her ego. Either of them expected that all 3 would walk away and reality is, noone is going to be interested in watching just Robyn and Kody and that's difficult for the 2 narcissists to comprehend.

Something you need to remember is some people take their vows very seriously! And I believe she was struggling, spiritually more than anything else! You can know something is done yet still want things to be different. I think kody lied about a lot of things because in the beginning of the show he wanted to have another baby with her and they were going on trips and having fun. So to say he never cared is a lie.
You have to come to that realization in your own time sometimes it just takes more time. Just glad she saw that’s

I really enjoyed this video (watching from Canada, hello!). David, I think you nailed it there. I DO think Robyn wanted the big family, but as a human (opinions aside)-wanted the top spot….but oblivious to the impact. Now that Kody has ruined the other relationships because he was smitten with Robyn…they were bad for each other. Not the way I initially thought, but they fed each others insecurity or something. Kody had someone fawning over him and telling him he’s amazing (I don’t get the sense his dad was super soft)…aka he’s looking for someone to a) give the A+ but also b) “save”, which he was desperate for…which would also explains his ‘saving’ her daughters-he’s healing the inner child.
And shee (wanted to) feel safe with a big family-which she tried so desperately to create….and won, but again…in doing so, ripped the big family safety net she finally had.
And if she’s that internally terrified…maybe also why her children are so frightened.
Then Kodys behavior became so awful through the years because he is constantly being misjudged, which in his mind is the opposite of him (aka trying to ‘save’) and give his all….again, perspective.
If this is close at alll, it’s giving me another perspective on to rationalizing this stuff…..It’s distorted… but as I have started therapy myself (thanks Top Psyc and Psychology in Seattle)!!…I’m learning about myself and that perspective is something! I can see envision how this is their distortion….but neither are actually shitty humans. Those trauma glasses of the world can really be dysfunctional!!!
The seasons are always so far behind. Season 19, Christine is dating David. They met in late 2022. They got married about 10 months later in 2023. Now, we're in the 2nd part of 2024 while watching what was going on in 2022.
I don't think she blames Kody, I think she thinks his behavior changed due to the wives (Christine) leaving. "It changed him." "he's not who I married". STILL blaming the OG3 for her miserable life.
