She didn't win because she was already so stylized and strong in herself. They want them young and naive to manipulate them into pop stars. They also prefer country because any really good singer can do 2 octaves... 1st and 2nd place that year were both country singers. That would never have worked with Haley. Its better for her she placed third. I will say I actually really liked the one album she did with Jimmy Ivene.

Haley is a glorious beast of a singer, lol! I've watched this performance so many times, the way that she joyfully plays with her voice is so seemingly effortless (but you know how many hours of practice she must have devoted to developing it). Such an extraordinary talent and presence, and the rotating members of the band are always top notch.
Total control of her voice, she just has a switch, at her command, she can go from sweet to sultry and sexy to raspy to distorted like it's nothing. She can belt, she can croon, she can whisper and she intertwines all these techniques like it's nothing, as effortless as breathing for her. The arrangement is beyond reproach as well. This is as good as it gets artistically.

I wish I could go back and hear this for the first time all over again. Hailey's voice is so unique and smoky and sultry. PMJ and this arrangement to Creep is such a perfect compliment to her style! Now do yourself a favor and react to Morissette Amon. Another hauntingly beautiful singer with such an angelic voice. I'd recommend 'Never Enough' or 'Rise Up' first, then just fall down the rabbit hole from there. They take modern songs and redo them and styles Of the past. think Angelina Jordan would be spectacular with them. I had a real good feeling that you were gonna like post modern jukebox.

I know this is a bold statement...But I think she is the best singer working today. Her voice is the definition of sultry. And her technique is unmatched. She can add just about any vocal effect at will. This woman is a live human cross of Jessica Rabbit and Betty Boop. She is absolutely amazing. You should check out the rest of her stuff with PMJ...What stands out is "Seven Nation Army" and "Don't Speak". But no one shows enough love to her version of Tove Lo's "Habits". Very few reactions to it, and it's absolutely quintessential Haley Reinhart.

What's great about "All about the Bass" by PMJ is you get to hear both Haley and Morgan and 3rd singer and see some sick classic bass finger work.
A lot of PMJ music once you hear it, it is hard to hear the originals the same again. Creep, 7 nation army, and Closer are all mind blowing to listen too. Also, Scott Bradley is the guy on the piano and he comes up with all the music setups and chorus's(based on singer mind you) for each song.
Every cover, short, live performance, official video, whatever she may be in, I always think to myself that this woman cannot be this beautiful, hollywood like 10/10 absolute wonder, and sing THIS well? she mustve rolled 2 sixes at the dice game of life, that sh** is crazy.
