If you look at father Mike's eyes you can tell he lacks sleep, but the lacking of sleep means he puts so much effort in serving God. Father Mike we all have you in our thoughts of prayers. May you continue to serve God Faithfully till the end.

As a cynical Evangelical and reeling first time mother, Fr. Mike was the first thing that came up on TH-cam after a counselor told me to search for videos about "Forgiveness". For some reason, when Fr. Mike said there was a God...I wanted it to be true. When Fr. Mike said God loved me...I really wanted that to be true as well. Chris is spot on-- it's not that Fr. Mike is awesome or a "rockstar" as much as it's that God really, really wants to say something powerful and this person is who I'm hearing it through. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I am crawling back to my faith thanks to internet ministries like Ascension, Poco a Poco, and RealLifeCatholic and, err...ummmm...... thank God??? 😅

Fr Mike is a gem. He is authentic, funny, friendly and so easy to listen to. He helped me get back into Catholicism after years of dilly-dallying in my faith. Now I’m learning all kinds of Catholic things, reading the Bible, doing the Cathecism, and walking with Christ in large part thanks to him 😀

I will always, always be grateful. I follow Chris too. God bless them both. I live in a Muslim country in Asia (9,300 miles away) and I ❤ both of them.

That last bit that Chris inspired Fr Mike to say had me burst into tears of gratitude for just simply being seen -as if God has spoken it Himself to me…That the “mundane” task of motherhood, friendships, marriage, evangelization and relationship in general is the hard work and to be encouraged and it’s the perseverance of sharing the love of Jesus Christ in relationship that is equally important to show up to and equally influential in bringing the truth/gospel to others… I needed this so bad! Cause man a lot of this work is quiet and only recognized by the Lord. (I don’t think I’ve ever written a TH-cam comment in my life lol sooo truly God is speaking through you both I’m so grateful). Thank you. Praise God.

As a woman who struggles with deep shame due to past sins and past trauma, it is comforting to hear from Fr. Mike that I will not need to feel ashamed before Jesus because of how God worked His grace through those past sins and past trauma. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

Beautiful - you are a winner. It's a lot and we all have "past sin flashback". It's a lie from the evil one - once we are forgiven, I am told, God has forgotten our sin, His forgiveness is REAL.

Fr. Mike, I live in the NW coast of Oregon. Every week I tune into your homilies either before or after my mass. I share with my 12 year old daughter. I’m starting her on the Bible in the year, I did that with you in 2020, you’ve helped me learn and grow as a cradle Catholic. Thank you for helping me be fired up, glory be to God. I wish we had a strong Catholic community to help fire up our youth here in the NW, especially our coastal communities get neglected. Trying to do my part to bring my girls the truth of our faith and to stay focused. There’s a lot of great Catholic educators fired up online. I love that. We need more strong catholic sisters to connect with our young girls too. Anyhow, I love all that you do. I really appreciate all your hard work.

I too wish there was a stronger Catholic presence for our youth and young adults in their 20s here in PNW - Seattle area is so dark I have been trying to decide where to move and always look at the Parishes and community in the different states across the country I am exploring. I wish there was a directory published that would show population and community involvement as I know there are some areas thriving while some are non existent.

It seems to me that Father approaches his homily as a teacher approaches lesson planning. The lesson every week is based upon whatever the Gospel reading (and the other readings of that day). A good teacher always relates whatever they are teaching to what their students knowledge/experience is with that subject and starts there. Father does this very well. He is a natural teacher.

I went back today to watch both of these episodes. As I stated in the previous episode, I listened to it 9 months ago and I was just beginning a journey and I had no idea that it was going to be such a journey with my health. It’s September 2 and tomorrow starts more stuff more testing more testing more bloodwork more whatever else they can do I’m on an incredibly restrictive diet and I can have cooked meat or chicken and fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. That’s it, no seasonings no salt and that no salt is a big deal. I cannot have it no pepper no nothing that testing will come next week and I will be off this diet and I swear I’m gonna eat ice cream cone. The first chance I get because of this so much, the good news conference, which is just finishing up today, the Eucharistic revival, the hallow gathering at the University of Steubenville, and upcoming musical revival with Matt Maher who I completely adore and finally, I’m gonna miss father Mike’s little road tour, which will come right after my 67th birthday and I am devastated that I can’t get to any of these things. Yes, it’s selfish. Yes, I know it but the thought of not being got to be with the people who have been holding me together for the last nine months. Is incredibly painful and what I have is incredibly painful so I’m really don’t need any more pain for all of you who made comments and sent prayers to me and kind words. I say thank you I will certainly include you in my prayers. I need to watch this because I have to remember that, even though I go to Sunday mass on Saturday because I can walk there and then listen to Mike and Bishop and several other priests that I find and offer excellent Homilies on Sunday. My weekends start on Friday with adoration and go straight through until I finish my evening. Prayers on Sunday. I do believe they’ve gotten me this far, but the words are encouragement from the men that have the stick above and many others. Keep me heading in the right direction. Thank you so much for Mike. I realize that you have lost your mom in the last year. Mine has gone well how much more blind can you be? She can’t see and she’s 87. She’s not happy. she is blessed beyond her wildest dreams by my young sister, Lisa and her husband, David, who are literally, her 24 seven caregivers. I offer prayers for them nightly while they’re doing this. They’re also adopting to Foster children so they are so amazing. Keep them in your heart for me. Thank you again for keeping me going week after week for hours showing up letting me stalk you on Wednesday until the Ascension presents drops the interview that talks that you give sometimes it’s a race to see who’s going to break into sooner me or you. May the good Lord continue to bless you with your wit and your intelligence, and you are absolutely love of mankind. You are one in 1 million and you are very special.

I taught on our RCIA team for many years, and it always fell to me to teach about the 4 last things. The RCIA candidates were often horrified at the thought of the entire world knowing their most secret sins. I explained that their good deeds, and the effects of their good deeds would also be seen. But yes, their deepest, darkest most hidden sins would be made manifest. But I explained that from at least my point of you, it would not so much be shame, as it would be gratitude and joy. One could honestly say, “despite my terrible sins, look how merciful God is, that he saved me“ The showing of our sins is actually showing the magnitude of God’s mercy.

❤ Fr. Mike. From the first time I saw one of his videos. I see good priests now, w/a glimpse of what Fr. Mike has now. It just seems at times that their love for the Lord is there, but that the intensity is not the same. The impression is that they've been doing it for so long that maybe they take some short cuts. I believe that is why Fr. Mike is so loved. That his passion for his calling is still burning and for that, I'm grateful. It fuels us. God bless you Fr. Mike, abundantly.

Fr Mike thank you for stating that sometimes Joy and Excitement in your love of Jesus will be misunderstood. I’m a Methodist pastor and my enthusiasm (which is God given) has been said to be rainbows and unicorns. At first I was hurt; but hearing your story you have found a way to accept the criticism with grace and understanding. Thank you - God bless

Remarkable interview. Thank you so much....So many great moments which everyone noticed but I was personally struck by the way Fr Mike schedules all his activities to the nearest 5 minute interval; like every minute of his day, his ministry, his life requires intention and planning. With God's help, I pray that we can all have the same awareness of every minute passing and live it with that sense of 'the stakes being high' as Fr talks about. God bless you all!

What a great episode! Oh man, I can’t even express the excitement I feel when listening to these two, not just in this episode but when they’re solo also. They’re both just so incredible and such a joy to listen to. I hope more young people listen to these two, we need more Christianity and goodness in this world and that is achieved through the gospel and hearing Gods word!! Thank you so much for your amazing ministry both of you❤

Many people who are very joyful (like Fr. Mike) are labeled "Golden Retrievers" because of that breed's insatiable happiness. But Goldens are not just dumb blondes. They are one of the most used dogs for Assistance Dogs who need to learn many tasks and to focus on "their person" despite distractions. So I happily call Fr. Mike a Golden Retriever. 😍God bless!!

at the beginning of my journey returning to the church, I found Fr. Mike almost too much for me. It wasn't him, it was me. The joy he has in his life with Jesus was almost blinding for me at first and now I just love it. I was timidly dipping my toe back into the waters of Faith and he is so enthusiastic in his love for Christ it blew me away! Intimidating. Now it draws me in.
God bless you both! (this is the first time I've heard of Chris and I look forward to exploring more of his videos - subscribed!)

Oh, yes, twelve years in NJ! It was hard to keep up. I was so grateful to be sent to Louisiana (with a group of NJ, NY women) The young people coming into the library said to me (Librarian here), "Why are they so up-tight? They're always in a hurry! That's crazy!"
What could I say? "That's how everybody is up North. Everybody down here is relaxed and slow. That drives them crazy!"
I do have a hard time keeping up with you two, especially now that my hearing is shot and hearing aids help but must be excused for their limitations. I try to follow along with the transcript but my dyslexia and old eyes are struggling to keep up.
I stop the video and read ahead, then turn on the video so I can get most of your chat. Pat yourself on the back that your content keeps me in the struggle!

    Dear Father,
Just a something I heard-take it how you will!-but I heard once that, if someone calls you, just always pick up and-if you can’t talk right then-just tell them! ‘Listen, I can’t talk right now, but can I call you back?’ Sometimes they just need a one-word answer anyway! Just a tip that I learned that has brought me much, much peace, because I used to just let it ring and-not having the time to really talk right then-feel bad about it for a long time afterwards! THANK YOU for all you do!!!!

I stumbled across Father Mike Schmitz's podcast in mid-June of this year after looking for information on "The Chosen" show. I was searching for something or anything to help me understand and deal with the loss of my husband earlier this year. i had read the entire bible 5 years before but remembered less than 25% of it. After watching BIY, day 1, Father MIke's youthful enthusiasm and deep love for God, along with his sense of humor was so moving and infectious, I wanted to hear more. His commentary after the readings is so helpful in understanding the verses and occasionally gets me very emotional. Many times, it is as if he is speaking to each one of us directly, with whatever situation we are experiencing. I know this is why so many people appreciate his podcast and his other video topics. Thank you, Father Mike, for your mentorship and love to all of us through your podcasts and video topics. That person who sent you an email saying you are annoying is just envious of how happy and content you are loving God with all your heart and soul. I am so sorry to hear that you lost your mother earlier this year as well. I am praying for you and your family.

Fr Mike, I love your homilies. I started loving the homilies when I went to Mother Angelica’s Shrine in Alabama. I heard the most beautiful homilies and witnessed such reverence. And the confessional was so beautiful, I felt so loved. It wasn’t just to get in and out, the priest, Fr Leonard made me feel like I was the only person that existed on earth at that moment . He changed my heart. I pray everyone can experience this kind of Love. I pray our priest will all become educated and become so reverent and fill our churches. Thank you to all our priest.
