    I’ve had mine for two weeks now. I’ve owned all kinds of cars. I find this one quite nice. A lot of fun to drive. It’s not the BMW Cabriolet 5spd I had. But it’s different. Like you said, “a video game”. In this case I traded a 2016 Silverado. Of course it doesn’t have the power the Silverado had, but if you plan your moves you should be fine. The main reason I went this way was I wanted a Hybrid with the gas mileage. My family lives a thousand miles from me and I don’t want to spend a ton of money on fuel. This car is comfortable and will be perfect for what I use it for. Buying gas once a month certainly ain’t gonna hurt.

      @@sunitjoshi3573 It's fine, you hold the pedal down and you'll be at 70 mph by the time you're merging. The fact that it doesn't have to shift makes it feel like you're accelerating smoothly.

    I've had my 2023 Corolla Hybrid now for just a few days. This newer model has a bit more horsepower, and AWD. It's rated at up to 51 mpg in the city, but so far I've been getting more like 45-47 MPG. I'm sure it will do better once it's 'broken in' and the winter is over. It has good enough acceleration for merging onto the interstate, though certainly not like a muscle car. The battery is now a LiIon type, also under the seat. It's a slightly larger battery than in the earlier versions.

    Hey Nolan, great review on this good little commuter. I do wish they offered the hybrid on the SE or XSE trim, cause those trims look good. I have quite a few Prius’ and Camry hybrids in my extended family and no one has ever had any issues with them. In fact, my Grandma has a 2005 Prius with over 160,000 miles on it and has only had to do oil changes as well as 1 brake job. So I always tell people not to worry about reliability. It sucks that the US doesn’t get all the good features though. I remember being pretty ticked when I bought my Legacy and found out that Subaru offers the it with a 6-speed in Canada. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I bought one of the first 2020 Corolla hybrids to come out in April, 2019. I have gotten as good as 66 mpg with it. Interesting fact, highway gas mileage is in the low to mid 60s in warmer weather and in the mid 50s in cooler weather. Not sure why? It's the best economy car I have ever owned, even when comparing it to my wife's 2017 Corolla.

    • @omarpulido8502
      @omarpulido8502 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using snow tires in the cooler weather? They increase rolling resistance as they're heavier so snow tires get worse gas mileage than all-season or summer tires.

    I'm coming from a '16 Mazda 3, and I'm thinking about getting this Corolla Hybrid. I'm looking at the interior and acceleration for this car... Man for that 52 mph, I'm giving up a lot of luxury...

  • @JMiranda710
    @JMiranda710 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I get around 55-57 mpg. I drive 160 miles a day. About 98% highway. 62mph is the sweet spot on Cruise control. The engine turns off and uses the hybrid mode when it’s level ground or down hill. When not using cruise control you can use the electric motor alone with the engine off, up to 70 mph BUT you have to be progressive with the gas pedal. I bought mine in July 2021, I already have 15,000 miles! No regrets. I get about 550 miles per tank. Only has a 10 gallon gas tank.

    • @sonicmoj1
      @sonicmoj1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know. I just bought mine and it will arrive end of August. I drive similar about 150 miles a day with about 95% highway. Unfortunately here in Michigan, I'll get run off the road driving 65 on interstate 94. I'm usually doing 80 mph on cruise. I wonder how much mpg I'll be seeing but definitely lower than 62 hopefully at least above 40 mpg. We'll see. Thanks for the numbers!

      I think they are positioning Corolla as an economic model, a cheap version, because North Americans are used to large cars. That's why limited options. In Europe smaller cars are more practical and optics is different. I think it is all about marketing and psychology and optimizing strategies to extract the maximum amount of money from people. Options are very limited in NA. Cars in Europe are also more expensive and less people can afford them

    Is this thing like a prius where I can plug a fridge into the back, fold the seats down and have barely enough room to take a nap with the ac on and the engine will kick on and charge the battery back up throughout the night? If it was that would be nice because all I need is enough room to pull off a mad nap and I just can't see myself as a prius owner for some reason. This also seems a bit more affordable. I just think if you can scoop up another $100 a day if you find yourself on the road, sleeping in your car in a somewhat reasonable way, its worth it. ,uh better to take a nap in your vehicle if you can instead of spending money somewhere to do the same. If you can throw a bed in one of these on a two day trip you could just spend the night there and then the next day you show up at your destination. Tons of money saves if you're traveling alone I think.

The highway trip I clicked the 63 mpg on is my work commute ranging from mostly 60-70 mph and going through 2 small towns on The highway. If you drive reasonably and pay attention to when the engine is in or you’re in EV mode you can really milk it...but under harder accelerations it drops pretty quick

      The MSRP for this car right now all over San Gabriel Valley (Longo) is at 25G right now. I am planning to finance this car but they quoted me 28G with all the fees and interest added.
      Are you paying it up front or financing? I think 26,380 sounds like a good price for the basic model. There’s also a chip shortage right now so dealerships are just marking up prices just because they want to 😩

      @@SM-qn7sr I paid for it, in total. I told them no extras. After I signed the guy told me that I had three years to decide if I want the 8 or 10 year (can’t remember) extended warranty for $1200.00. The car was made in Japan so there shouldn’t be any issues. In May they had a $2000.00 rebate if you did not finance, I think in June it went down to a $1000.00 rebate.

    I agree completely and absolutely in all that you said in the video 👍... I had a Corolla Hatchback and and I had to changed it for this one, I didn't want to do it, but the hatchback's 2.0 engine was killing me 😬 too much gas, I was looking for a hybrid version but they don't make it yet 😩. This corolla is great saving gas, has a very good size trunk that the hatchback doesn't have, is the basic sedan that does its job, but I miss my hatchback, I miss the compact, the easy to parking, spoiler, back door, etc., I hope toyota for the 2022 makes the hybrid hatchback, expand the trunk and make a version with sunroof. That would be a dream made true. You read my mind abound each detail that you mentioned in the video, you did a great job doing the review of this car. 👌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Sticking a tablet on the dash without trying to integrate it into the cabin is what drives me crazy with modern cars. No doubt it’s the cheapest option but you’d be forgiven if you thought they simply forgot and added it at the last minute.

      They do this so you get maximum screen size without having to crowd everything out of the way as you would in a normal in-dash configuration. And it does not obstruct your view of the road whatsoever.

      It's a $2,703.00 difference between hybrid and gas model for the LE trim in the US. At $5/gallon and driving 135 miles a day to work 12 times a month, I would need 36.95 months to break even. After year 3 all the way up to year 10, I would have a savings of approximately $6144.00. That's a decent amount.
