Could you shed a bit of light on how the HDMI kit will be installed? The oled/touch/hdmi kit I ordered says that there are no shell modifications necessary and no soldering required. How's that possible?
@@LeBoomStudios thats a really good question. Ordered the same... still trying to figure out how they do it. Somehow access test points, replacing game card slot or headphone jack ... hmmmmmmm
@@urubarin3966 The headphone jack would be way too small, even for micro HDMI. The Gamecard slot would be a nice idea, since mine is modded anyway. So either that or the description is just copy+paste for all of the kits and a bit of actual soldering is needed. From what I've heard, the USB Type-C controller is the same as on the OG Switch, just wirhout the additional DP-Alt controller IC. As such, it should support video output and it should be possible to directly route the display output to the unused pins.
Looks simple enough but you might want to touch on thermal paste in the next video - You didn't replace any between the heatshield and the copper pipe; seems like too much paste left the build when removing the old heatshield.
In all fairness, having repaired so many switch systems myself, you never really need to. The soc used in it is so lower power that it doesn't need much thermal paste. I've not ever replaced it except the first system I did and it's not been an issue. You'd only really need to do that if you were modding and overclocking.
@@lieutent2654 for those who plan on opening up their consoles multiple times, would it be advisable to replace the thermal paste with a thermal pad for less mess? Or better to stick with the paste?
@@lieutent2654 he put the plate direct down with zero paste between the backplate and heat pipe . Is it fine to not add anything at all ? I'm talking about the paste on top of the heat pipe that touches the back metal shell
@@droo3010 No, always add paste. The stuff that goes between the top of the heat pipe and the metal shielding is more of a thermal putty, which is thicker.
@@inclinerd I don't recommend a thermal pad. It may be possible to get the right size but I tried a thermal pad in place of the thermal putty on the top of the heat pipe, and the Switch Lite seemed to run hotter afterwards. Underneath the heat pipe and underneath the APU's shielding, you should definitely use thermal paste, as even a thin thermal pad will be too thick and could cause warping that could crack the PCB.
the most expensive kit comes pre-assembled with replacement shell, buttons, 2 hall effect joysticks, etc too as well as the HDMI mod. That one only requires swapping the PCB. I may choose this one. The only issue I forsee with the HDMI output is that while it does do 1080P output, I imagine it will still be limited to 720P output (or less for games like TOTK) since it will be limited to "Handheld Mode" only with a Switch Lite. We all know Nintendo won't enable it to do Docked Mode. But hopefully the HDMI mod has some upscaling features or we have the option to run in Docked Mode via a modchip.
@@droo3010 Mario maker 2 and Mario 3d world/bowsers fury are my main 2. Plus I would rather pay 10$ extra with a promo code to keep all the original features of the screen.
@droo3010 it's not necessary, more of a convenience. Switch games are able to be played in "Docked" mode on a television, with a controller, not by touching the screen. Which is actually what makes this so interesting... its simple. Do I really need a touch screen? I'll be very curious to see a touch screen tutorial as well before purchasing.
Will this OLED screen be compatible with a modded switch lite? Will it require further software tweaking to get running or will it work out of the box?
Liking and commenting for visibility. My guess is there isn't a compatibility issue. I would like confirmation from someone, though. I'll order it anyways and see if I can do it without causing any problems.

I did both, and didn’t notice a difference either way. If you just take the heatsink and shield off and put it aside without disturbing the paste it’s fine, but new thermal paste is like 2$ so I would just replace it.
V1 and V2 don't have the X1+ so it might not have the hardware for it, dunno if it can be done without homebrew and more hardware... hope is possible though.

- is there a picture or video where to see how the black one looks from the mega kit.
I ordered the oled with touchscreen, I’d love to have the Switch oled screen on a switch lite, even the standard settings would be more than acceptable on a switch lite system.
Too bad you didn’t customize the foam inside the case to prop up the lite to be straight. Hard to explain I’ll post a picture on X what I mean.
Does the screen connector sitting on top of the battery put any pressure on the battery when the case is closed?
Awesome kit! Just found out about it a few days ago and placed an order for the kit with touch. While I wait for it to arrive, I have a question. Is there a need to apply new thermal paste since it looked like a lot of it was stuck on the old backplate?
A version without the accessories would have been a great idea for those who already have screwdrivers 😢
I think I’ll wait for screen mods to pop up on aliexpress
This with docking capability is what switch lite should be
I always loved these understated special editions. 😤
Didn’t even own a switch lite until I heard about this kit. Now I own 3 😂
can we fix shipping to Pakistan please ?
Is not bad I wonder if the screen mod will be compatible with the moded switch the chip mod will nt be in the way, plus will be a oled mod screen for the switch v1 or 2?
Seems pretty neat. Any adhesive strip on the middle part of the cable that sits on the battery? Seem like a way to stick that on the center part of the battery with adhesive like the part for the battery connector piece on top of that metal shield.
Just ordered mine oled touch and hdmi waiting for that video 😊
Nice, that's the best shell I've seen & with the upgraded screen, it's just perfect. Great video as always.
Got this model myself for my eventual mod. Gonna install the HDMI & touchscreen kit, itll be the black screen but I'd rather have all that functionality over stock colour
hey taki, does the touch edition come with a touch digitizer attached to the panel? if so thats the one i want to get
looking forward to HDMI showcase
I’m interested in the HDMI Mod, how does that work?
Will it affect switch updates, because of the part is not official
can we fix shipping to Pakistan please ?
Hopefully, there will be an oled screen for v2 and v1
is it compatible with a modified version of the console?
Waiting on the mega kit tutorial. This one was done great.
Amazing work taki! I'm so excited to get mine
will it fit the the flexible circuit if I have a mod chip in that place?
