- From the War Doctor audio drama, 'The Eternity Cage'. In the Time War, the Sontarans have captured the Dalek Time Strategist, and the Doctor's commanding officer Cardinal Ollistra (John Hurt Doctor's most regular companion). They discuss their situation, seem to consider helping each other escape, and go on to talk about the origin of the Time War.
Cardinal Ollistra is such an underrated character! She's always great to listen to, as the War Doctor's boss and heartless Gallifreyan politician. She's such an old bat and Time Lord supremecist, it's very entertaining!

2:13 While the Daleks are unambiguously far more evil than the Time Lords, the Time Strategist isn't wrong here -- the Time Lords did send people to wipe the Daleks out in the cradle and as a result unwittingly kickstarted the war. Even though Ollistra deflects his accusation, she doesn't bother refuting it or defending herself. The Dalek is right in this case, and they both know it. Which adds a whole new layer of complexity to the situation and yet another reason why I love Big Finish.

The Time Lords are just as cruel and ruthless as the Daleks. They just prefer to hide their true nature's behind delusions of altruism and benevolence
If anything, the Time Lords are just as responsible for the creation of their greatest enemy as Davros because after Genesis of The Daleks, they realised what was out there in the universe, and it terrified them and made them stronger
@SamuelBlack84 I agree. Especially when you take into account characters like Rassilon and Omega. But the reason why I say that the Daleks are worse is because it's just _some_ Time Lords who are really that bad, while you've got other Time Lords who are good and decent people like Andred, Narvin, Romana, and the Doctor himself. By contrast, even the most rank-and-file Dalek is an evil, insane psychopath. But you're right. The Time Lords are no less dangerous than the Daleks.

I like how he sounds almost human when talking normally and then goes full Dalek when he enters a tirade.

It’s a shame Jacquline Pearce passed away Ollistra was an interesting kind-of companion to the War Doctor the boss reluctant employee dynamic they had was an interesting concept that didn’t get fully fleshed out sadly it never will...
I was today years old when I realized the Time Controller and Time Strategist were two different Daleks
The Controller is pretty much the Stragist's father.

Cardinal Ollistra is played by Jackie Pearce who played the arch-villain Servalan in Blake,s Seven and Servalan is the best female arch-enemy in sci-fi ever
She also played Chessene in the Classic Doctor Who episode "The Two Doctors", which saw the 2nd and 6th Doctors in the middle of a Sontaran plot (poorly executed enough that I don't recall it, just the coronic acid melting the Sontaran commander.)

I know I'm late, but you know what my favorite thing about Grand Admiral Thrawn is? The fact that he can make the most impossible assessment of his enemies' intentions and usually turns out to be right 100% of the time. If Thrawn were actually there alongside Ollistra and the Dalek Time Strategist, he would've correctly guessed that the Sontarans are using both the Time Strategist and Ollistra as bait for both the Time Lords and the Daleks, creating a third front in the Time War.
@@DoctorWhoKage Redeemed Villian turned anti-hero Abelt Dessler from the "Space Battleship Yamato" franchise, he would also come to the same conclusion. Dessler is the leader of the proud warrior-race of the planet Gamilas. I assume you've heard of him? Dessler is my Number 1# favorite villain (Former Villain) from the "Space Battleship Yamato" anime.

@@DoctorWhoKage Not every alien species in anime are complete monsters as there have been a few friendly alien races on several occasions, depending on the series. In "Space Battleship Yamato" for primary example, there's the Iscandarians, most notably Queen Starsha, who played a major role in helping humanity save Earth from radiation contamination. Even Humanity's former enemies the Gamilons, most notably Dessler as I stated before, he has helped saved Humanity on many occasions in order to atone for his past mistakes, which have made him a better man over time. In the 2009 anime film "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection" there also the Amare people led by Queen Iraya and the Ethos people led by the honorable Admiral Gouri, who also fought alongside Humanity against the tyrannical SUS Empire.
Am I the only one worried that an high ranking dalek was captured by an lesser alian warrior race, I know sontaraians are skilled in war, but the dalek strategiest would been difficult, this lead to two scenarios, 1. The dalek are weakened during capture, or 2. This is part of an larger plan

tbh I would love animating this, only problem is that I'm shit at animating humans

only think that bothers me is how the sontarans beat daleks here a little too easily, i hate to play favourites you'd think daleks would have more in the way of defence
Especially given the Time Stragist is basically apart of the Dalek High Command.
it is a new weapon that the daleks would have no idea the sontarans had though. The little tin pots seem remarkably beatable most of the time.
