not gonna lie.........the strategist outdid himself immensely. i knew he was probably the greatest tactical mind the daleks had in any timeline but i was not expecting this genius
this is REALLY making me think the strategist ends up as sec. is he ends up totally unconnected to the cult of skaro i'll weep for the missed opportunity.
If that's what a "normal" strategist can do, just think what the Time Strategist is capable of...

@@rakninja it was revealed in Defender of the Daleks that this set of Daleks are not from the main timeline as they’re unaware of the time war so it could be an alternative version of Sec for all we know
I think the Strategist has figured out a logical fact - being in charge of the Daleks means you are a target and figurehead. Better to rule in the shadows.

this is part of "time lord victorious" which from the name i assumed to detail time war stuff.
it would be strange in the extreme to have daleks on skaro during the time war, unaware of the time war.
or this could be set just prior to the time war. daleks in general were not aware of the time war "before" it happened, correct?

THE DALEKS DEMAND A SECOND SERIES!!! I really enjoyed that, the strategist and Temporal Strategist are by far the best dalek characters, who need to appear on the TV show.

Daleks! Episode 5: Friend or Foe?
Dalek Strategist is the kind of guy who always holds a trump card nobody knows about but it's always there in plain sight. Probably my favourite episode so far in terms of visuals, story, everything! Amazing finale!
Such a satisfying conclusion to #Daleks. Well done to Nick Briggs, James Goss, and the entire cast and crew for delivering this epic animated miniseries! 👏
And that's why he's called the Strategist.

As soon as the Strategist said it needed to change something, I knew it was going to betray the Mechanoids.
I actually thought "HOW could you so easily fall for that?" 🤦♀️
Well, they are Mechonoids. While these ones seem more sophisticated as usual, even the higher castes are kinda dull and uncreative at best, and about as smart as a toaster at worst.
They were desperate. Without the help of the Strategist the Mechanoids would lose the battle. Naturally, they relied on the Strategist too heavily and paid the ultimate price for it.
Because they're not the audience.

Even though I figured out the Strategist plan before it happened, I still loved it. The Strategist NEEDS to appear in TV show. He's got so much more character than any of the current main cast, lol.
It's been a long while since Doctor Who was able to make something this good. Hopefully the BBC continues with this series.
I think this series is done for now, but i wouldn't mind another like this. (Maybe with other monsters in the doctor who universe, like the cybermen. But that would be very unlikely because this is mostly about the time lord victorious stuff.)
This is great. Writing is more important than anything.
The Doctor ain't been the same since Capaldi left... Hopefully the Next Doctor will resurrect the the guy fans all over the world are anxious to see return.
This series was BEAUTIFUL. A glimpse of the Hond at the end would have been fantastic but either way, this was an immensely brilliant series. Congratulations to all involved. A 50 minutes combined episode would be amazing too.

The Strategist opening a portal to the entity's dimension was a risk. While it was a most _efficient_ way to remove the mechonoids we would have defeated them anyway.
Correct but the dalek weapons thou powerful it can be more powerful same for the dalek armor there are powerful beings out there but evolution is the dalek's greatest gift daleks will evolve daleks will conquer and daleks will exterminate all inferior beings
i have seen you comment before on another Doctor who dalek video, i think it might of been the Video were they "kill" missy and clara and "blow up" the tardis
The Mechanoid leadership could have escaped, also, possibly the last part was improvised by the Dalek strategist.
This method eliminates all Mechanoids in the entire universe, as opposed to only the ones sent to battle the Daleks.
Overall a great series! I hope the Mechons aren't extinct and make a return if there is a Series 2!

I love that despite knowing everything the Daleks will do and how evil they are, we’re still encouraged to side with them as if they are the good in this scenario. Also this episode is by far the best one visually

@@rowanlock3517 They do kind of hint he might survive. I actually thought he might be the last Dalek in Genetics of the Daleks and A Dalek Awakens but apparently not.
I think Eaglemoss's Exit Strategy shows some promise for the Strategist's future.
So, that single, surviving mechanoid did rebuild and avenge....
This reminded me of the wonderful old Dalek comic strips I used to read in TV21 when I was a boy. Much better than Big Finish's disappointing Dalek Empire audios. Thank you.

It seems she's making a return to the doctor who universe. First she was a scorpion queen and now she is a mechonoid
Very entertaining! Very much in the spirit of the 1960s TV21 Dalek stories where the Daleks did, in fact, twice face the threat of destruction on their own home-world. Once was due to the invasion of Skaro by a bunch of blue-skinned characters called "Monstrons", who used "Engibrain" robot soldiers to first attack the Dalek City, then engulf it in fast-drying liquid metal (!). The second time was when a Dalek experiment went wrong and an explosion created a cloud of radio-active (?) rust that attacked Dalek casings. In both cases, these threats were defeated by a single Dalek using initiative and ingenuity (sometimes suicidally), allowing others to survive and rebuild - which they always did! Long live the Empire!!!
I’ve been loving this series! It’s so wonderful to see the characterisation of the dalek Strategist and the emperor is great! The Mechanoids will be exterminated!

You know, this series has been exactly what I was missing from Series 11/12, I refilled the void that was left after those 2 previous series'. Thank you Nick Briggs and crew.
The strategist REALLY pulled a "What's that over your shoulder?"
I love this! And it's a tour de force for Nicholas Briggs. He gave the emperor and the strategist real personality. It would be fun to see them in the live action show.

Am I the only person who wants to try and clean/fix the Strategist's eye stalk? Bless him, having worn glasses my whole life, I feel sorry for him - it's really annoying - especially when you don't have any hands or a clean cloth handy! 😁
He wears it as a trophy, the rest of his armour is also older and dirtier than the other daleks.
I remember seeing the Mechanoids back in the 60's, loved / was terrified of them. I drew them, and made models of them to pit against my toy Daleks (Louis Marx, etc al) Odd, but hugely gratifying to see them revived fifty+ years on.
This is remarkable animation, so detailed and nuanced, right down to pitting and scarring on the Dalek casings. Even watching on a phone, I enjoyed it immensely, excellent story, too.
8:44 I love how that line was chucked back at the one who was saying it in the first episode.

I just... really love how the Dalek Emperor mutters "good" to himself as he's watching the fight. I can't quite articulate why I think that one word, delivered that way, struck me so. I just really liked that moment.
Just like how he proclaims the Strategist's ploy was "Beautiful!" It's just this really...fascinating little moment.

Season 2. Baby!!
That's was incredible. And by the looks of things we’re getting a sequel!!! I mean it was literally one of the best Dalek stories I’ve ever seen. Back on episode 1, it looked so bad, it just felt awful, but it has fully redeemed itself. They had the strategist finally get to fully show his abilities, they brought back the mechanoids in an amazing way, and the fact they were able to pull off a story this epic, with a budget that small, is quite honestly..... FANTASTIC!!!!
A sequel... where? This does lead into the 2 part Comic Book story.

DALEKS! has been a joy to watch and a great addition to the Time Lord Victorious storyline! Looking forward to next seeing the Daleks again on a TV screen near me soon in "Revolution of the Daleks" on New Year's Day 2021! Cannot wait to see The Doctor and Team TARDIS unite with Captain Jack Harkness to stand up and fight against whatever evil plans the Daleks have put into motion!
