@@plantainsame2049 perhaps, but each incarnation of a Time Lord has their own personality. Sometimes the difference is subtle, other times more drastic. Compare Delgado with Simms for instance, they're very different portrayals, but still the same character.
An interesting conversation between the two characters, especially since it (to me) puts Derek's Master in a position where he draws parallels with Professor Yana in terms of demeanour.
Having listened to the Fourth Doctor audios with Leela and the Geoffrey Beevers Master, I absolutely loved this scene. Her encounters with The Master are some of my favourite Companion/Master interactions in the series.
Man I wish Jacobi had gotten more screen time! He's absolutely brilliant as the Master and we didn't get enough of him. I honestly would rather have watched him than Simm. He truly captures the necessary charisma and intimidation necessary for the Master. He and Gomez are the only ones to come close to matching Delgado. So glad we at least get him in audio format.
@@cloudsombrero No they just wanted a younger figure to play opposite Tennant which is a shame because I think Jacobi could have pulled it off. It would certainly be better than the annoying hyperactive child on a sugar high performance we got from Simm.
I've only just realized how good Big Finish is. Listening to this and imagining this scene in my head is just awesome. Definitely gonna get other episodes and series from Big Finish.
AAAGH! Damn you Big Finish. My wallet is crying right now and yet I NEED THIS AUDIO NOW!!! JUST HOOK IT UP TO MY VEINS!!! On a serious note thanks for the audio snippet. Fantastic performances from Jacobi and Jameson here.
As long as it inspires others to go out and get the full thing and sacrifice a piece of their hard earned money, it's my pleasure. While the Gallifrey series as a whole isn't up there with my favorites, Gallifrey: Time War was something else, something on a different level. Believe it!
Leela is honestly my favourite companion. Her personality is projected so much better in the audiobooks! My favourite audiobooks will always be ones such as trail of the white worm, the osideon adventure, the evil one, requiem for the rocket men and death match. They tell a story about leela that is never explained in the show and this listening to this audiobook is so dramatic just because of the master and leelas long background
Didn't get to hear these yet but I'd definitely like to hear how he interacts with Ace to see, if made aware of this being the Master, she can put aside her less-trusting/habit of hitting things, especially given she's originally made aware of him from the last episode in classic who.
I didn't have the pleasure to listen to any of Jacobi's stories yet because I need to catch up with the Gallifrey and the 8th Doctor stories prior going through the Time War's stories. I'm looking forward to it. He seems amazing. Actually, I prefer a calm old school Master than the modern hysterical ones.
Keep in mind - by this point he's the 'followup' to the MacQueen Master - who's seen so many of his plans fail and even ended up almost dying Again Not only that - but, unlike the War Doctor, who immediately escaped the Time Lords after he regenerated - the War Master has been (more or less) kept on a short leash and pressganed into service Revealing the depths of his plan - of his evil - of his schemes would be counterproductive to all of that
Every time I hear one of these audios I just feel sad knowing it's never gonna be adapted on the TV. It is sad to see that the most creative minds and people who actually love the show don't get to run it.
Excuse me. Did you need to hear the previous Gallifrey Box Sets to understand this one? I already know who Leela,Ace and Romana are, and i know that Leela and Romana are friends. But i never heard any Gallifrey stories.
Jacobi is the best master since Beevers. He is the Master more the Simms ever was. I liked Simms but Jacobi is just amazing a return to she screen is needed and with Davies return so might Jacobi's master
@@whogirlreviews178 is this particular version on the last CD? I know Big finish sometimes put their OSTs on the last disc as an extra, but this... this has something haunting about it.

Well I mean can't exactly be the master of disguise when you look like beef jerky she is talking about the crispy one which I lie cuz he's the master I most associate with four I don't get why anyone ever associate the Anthony anally Master with four the doctor literally only knew that variation for a day before he became Peter Davison
Leela is referring to the crispy Master, who didn’t engage in social niceties the way his other incarnations did. Being trapped in a burnt, decaying husk meant he was always in a foul mood, so he often acted ‘mask off’ so to speak.
I can actually hear Delgado’s Master in this incarnation. Derek Jacobi did an absolutely fantastic job portraying this Master.
IKR! He's absolutely brilliant and the parallels to Delgado are uncanny but amazing!
Does*
The War Master is a really evil combination of Delgado's Master, the 2nd Doctor and the 7th Doctor
@@madeleine5561 well I mean they are literally playing the same character

Be like the Nine, steal the audios
Well, just sail the seven seas of the internet, if you know what I mean.
"I'm not particularly enamoured with []Leela's body]." I think the Master is the only one who can say that.
For some reason I get chills when they referenced the Beevers Master
The Beevers/Pratt Master was like a new level of evil, genuinely scary. Knowing what lies beneath the surface is always a creepy thing.

The Master and Ace do not meet in this set. Ace only appears in the second story and the Master only appears in the third story
Wow, their voices are very moving.
I love ❤️ the war masters voice
Two of the greatest actors ever to contribute to the world of Doctor Who.
Hope chibnail raises to this level
René Moncayo I’m not holding out
Doubt it but this is a super high level anyway. Stellar writing with stellar characters
I wouldn't expect Captain Chibbers to reach Big Finish levels of quality but I do hope he'll do the TV Show some decent work in his own right.
His single episodes for the show have been varying in quality but we've seen what he can do if given a series to work with with his own vision
While his previous episodes of DW have been less than satisfactory, but -- I mean, he had no issues with Broadchurch as a showrunner.

Loved every moment.
Keep in mind - by this point he's the 'followup' to the MacQueen Master - who's seen so many of his plans fail and even ended up almost dying
Again
Not only that - but, unlike the War Doctor, who immediately escaped the Time Lords after he regenerated - the War Master has been (more or less) kept on a short leash and pressganed into service
Revealing the depths of his plan - of his evil - of his schemes would be counterproductive to all of that
God Jacobi can be so deliciously evil when he wants to be.
Who Girl, you're a very good TH-camr.
thank u. feel free to check out my reviews,
Who Girl oh I didn't know you did reviews
Who Girl could you upload some audio from the Jago and Litefoot Big Finish series
Yes. This is mainly a Review channel to help current and new listeners sort through which titles they want, need and which they are uncertain of.
I need to get this series omg
A 1 season companion and 1 episode Master.
Leela was in half of s14 and all of s15.

Not really. This series is kinda like a soft reboot, self contained with very few references to past Gallifrey stories.
thank you n-n

It's the War Master's theme from his box set.

The master is kind and helpful finally no thanks to his later regenerations😠😡😤 but he is still on his journey to becoming good 😊
Don’t be fooled. This incarnation is easily the most monstrous and despicable Master of them all.

"You were raw and you were honest." HA! The master honest? Never. That's what makes him entertaining: seeing what he has got hidden up his sleeve.
The War Master has even more hidden up his sleeve than other Masters though
