Dieppe was Tragic, and very sad, much not helped by the support Tanks unable to get the Traction needed to get off the Beach. My Friend and Neighbour Humph, was in the Royal Navy desperately trying to get the Troops off, with the attempted Evacuation seriously hindered by a Sniper picking them off. So Humph was sent ashore to Deal with the Sniper. He was successful, and was shocked to find he knew the guy, recognising him as someone who was on the same Officers Course as Humph in Dartmouth College before the War. That is something people today don't appreciate, is the extent to which the Nazis had I filtrated the Military and Political Parties of Britain, France, etc, prewar. The extent to which they had particularly infiltrated the whole Logistics infrastructure, was pretty much behind causing the fall of France. In Combat, for example, for every Rifle daily ammunition supply needed to be at least 200 rounds a day, but they were lucky if they got 25 rounds. It was so bad, Winston Churchill took a Parliamentary Committee down to London Docks, to find out if anything had even been sent. Prior to Shooting the last Nazi Spy in Britain, the Allies didn't Win a Battle, After, they pretty much didn't lose one. I tried getting Humph to write a book about his WW2 experiences, as he was involved in some pretty incredible things, including being the lot man aboard the Aircraft Carrier Ark Royal as it was being Scuttled. Sadly lost touch with Humph, as his daughter got him to move down to Hampshire as his Smallholding had become too much for him to stay on any longer. A great guy. Best Wishes. Bob. 👍

Hi My marine engineering background has kicked in and maybe you should consider using a slightly longer belt and install and external jocky tensioner in the longest section between the pulleys. That will give you more "wrap around" as you call it. Wish I was there to help. The markets looked great !!!! Cheers or skoll as you say. Ian New Zealand
@@ichthus1890 I'm not saying you couldn't do it but a larger pulley would change the speed that the alternator rotates at. This could cause inefficient cooling of the alternator due to its lower rotational speed (RPM)
Adding an idler pulley to your 24v alternator would help get more wraparound and reduce the wear on the belt. You may even be able to fabricate a mount for an idler on a tensioner arm.
You could add an idler pully to increase wrap around. Alternately, you could adapt a idler pully tensioner from an automotive application which would both increase wrap and automatically maintain proper belt tension.

Yes, the alternator is on the other side on our D2 75. This was a bespoke accessory kit from Volvo Penta with Mastervolt alternator. I've also put a charging switch in to isolate the charge if required. Our MAstervolt 24v alternator also has a separate controller, we inherited this but I've yet to change to lithium... All the kit, including monitoring equipment is super expensive which has put me off, to say nothing of the batteries. Lead acid is less than a quarter of the price! The big down side with AGMs is the shear weight of the things, all tucked up in the bow on this boat. A DIY solution is the only option, with prismatic cells... we'll see. Good luck with your setup. Great video.
I can relate to the alternator belt search in foreign ports.... Glad you found one! Vera is a gem. You and Malin are okay too. 😁 Keep up the great videos, and thanks!
Hello from California! I totally missed this video, and Im late commenting. But have to say Johan walking and searching for the belt had me worried. Congrats on finding one! Johan, your lovely ladies look wonderful. Cheers and safe travels.
As soon as I saw the coarse rounded gravel, I thought of the tanks stalling while spinning their tracks under fire. Like the hedges in the 1944 landings, these obstacles might have been anticipated if planners had only talked to UK folks who holiday in France.
Instead of swapping the alternators. Get a longer belt for the 24v alternator and add a coaster tensioner pully. This would give you more pully surface area which you wanted.
Back inn the old days, we used belt dressing compound... a gooey compound that makes the pulley not as slippery so the belt gripped it better with lower tension on the belt. Plan B would be to switch to toothed belt and pulley ($$$)
I thought the same thing until I looked closely at the video again. The engine geometry is quite compact and the front is dominated by piping. I don't think there is enough space and a potential mounting point for an idler pulley.
If you change the position of the two alternators you must keep the pulley ratio the same therefore changing the alternators and their respective pulleys together. The setup is designed to have the alternators turn at a correct RPM. Without being there to see the situation, I can not say if that is possible. Sometimes there are clearance issues as well as offsets that come into play. I just want you to know what to consider. Might be prudent to tackle this job in a large port city with many services available, like machine shop. JIM
Vera is adorable. Videos, especially the drone shots were beautiful. It will be interesting to see how the alternator works out long term. I don’t think you have many hours on that belt. Sometime, tell us your likes and dislikes of the new batteries. It seems like the best feature should be faster charging compared to lead acid or AMG batteries. Love your channel. Be safe.
Vera, kites, and the market place,...what a beautiful day to enjoy as a Family. Safe travels.

Keep up the great videos, and thanks!
The word "marine " in any product adds at least 30%. Belts are easily found at auto parts stores.
Hello from California! I totally missed this video, and Im late commenting. But have to say Johan walking and searching for the belt had me worried. Congrats on finding one! Johan, your lovely ladies look wonderful. Cheers and safe travels.
Wasn't sure how your channel would be with the addition of a child but it is better than ever. Great job
Add an Idler pulley to give you more surface area on the alternator.
Such a lovely family to follow. Another great video guys.
Vera is so precious & sweet, she steals the show. Thanks for sharing.
I truly love watching your adventures…
How about adding an idler pulley and a longer belt to the 24V alternator?
I thought the same thing until I looked closely at the video again. The engine geometry is quite compact and the front is dominated by piping. I don't think there is enough space and a potential mounting point for an idler pulley.
Danke!

Be safe.
Thank you guys. From BC. You all rock!
Love the scenery, beautiful baby and the added history which we all must not forget. Thanks!
Beautiful video and the town looks lovely. Vera is quite the little chatterbox and she is absolutely adorable 😊⛵️⛵️🥰
I love how Vera helps
Dieppe and engine maintenance - I love it.
I see a happy baby and a great video. I'm eager to see Spain.. Portugal..and back to the Caribbean
