Malin, you are gracious and beautiful.... even if you sometimes feel a little upset. You're also a great Mom. The Captain knows what he's doing, when and how. We all feel very comfortable and protected in his crew. We all love the admiral when she looks a little poutful and serious when she's drawing at the table. You are all awesome. Malin, your videos, editing and music is wonderful. Blue skies. Cheers..!

As someone who has tried small kids on a sailboat I'm so impressed. We made it 6 months. But look back on the time and cherish it. The kids are just starting to get old enough now to make me think about starting to do it again. Family time in nice anchorages. Good luck.

You guys do such a great job capturing the sea state. It's not easy to do, and I love feeling the movement of the boat and the size of the waves when you sail. Awesome job.

At 3:40 you could see the joy in Johan's smile as he described the rough seas. Then he turned the camera on the rest of the crew, who had mutiny in their eyes! Haha, love you guys!

Vera did not look very happy with the motion, but looks like she eventually went to sleep and got over it and back to her coloring while mom sleeps. What a great baby.

Welcome to the Alderney Race where the world goes forwards and backwards twice a day what ever you do 😀. Those of us who live on and sail from the island have learned to live with and even love it. But with 9Knots of tide on springs we try very hard not to get it wrong. Next time you come past please do drop in and we will show you all our little island.

Looks like you had a good sail despite a bumpy start and a calm spell. Not the easiest sailing area. I like the way you both just get on with it - not many couples do that especially with a baby. A large well found boat helps. 🙂. Happy sailing.

Sometimes Spinnaker/Gennaker sock continuous lines become twisted inside their sleeve which can cause jamming, every now and then it's a good idea to lay the full sock out straight on the dock or somewhere flat and un-twist the lines in the sleeve if necessary.

A confession: I did some extremely difficult and frustrating home repair work yesterday in very cramped quarters - similar to what Johan must do regularly in the engine compartment on the boat. I ended the day in a frustrated crabby mood. Johan: you're a better man than me. I realised when I later watched yesterday's video that it takes a special couple to go sailing. My missus is just as sweet-tempered as Malin, but she wouldn't tolerate me long on a sailboat.

The rocking of the boat and the moon peeking out from behind the clouds on an otherwise dark and breezy night brings back such fond memories of my time spent working on production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. The calm that always seemed to arrive just as the Sun breached the horizon was always a time of reflection of almost biblical proportion. It was spiritual to say the least. There's lots of seafaring songs that come to mind that would have been a perfect accompaniment to your excellent camera work today! Thank the Lord for Vera being such a great sailor girl. It breaks my heart to see Malin suffer with sea sickness, but it would be ten times worse to see Vera going through it!

Watching how Vera handles sailing is very important to my family because we want to sail and we have a daughter who will turn 6 next week. Great show. We have our gennaker for our 50' boat on a Selden GX top down furler. Works well. Easy to put up and control. Also the GX allows the tack to be easily raised and lowered to help shape it. Only disadvantage of the Selden GX series is you can only have one sail on it. Since it is top down you just keep rolling it up on the continuous furler. My Facnor top down furler allows me to just buy another torsion rope and shackle to switch sails. But the Facnor is for my cutter sails only so they are much smaller.
Lesson learner though, never leave a top down furler with the sail furled on it rigged up when you leave the boat. Even if you have the furler locked, the nature of the furling allows the sail to be blown out and become a nightmare in heavy wind. I have had to rescue some here at the dock on other boats when they left their spinnaker rigged up. No fun to try to get one down at the dock in 30 knots of wind.
Love watching you guys. We are here in Ensenada. The Ran 1 was here at the marina for a while but they moved it north some time ago now.
