7:43 I love the idea of those removable floor panels in the engine room for both servicing underneath them, and then being able to walk on them and not worry about stepping on pipes or wires.
4:10 That harbour area's greenery really reminds me of the coasts here in Ireland. For a moment I thought that it was Cork Harbour, when one of the white modern looking buildings with the black looking glass panels looked very similar to a building in Cork Harbour. (Just incase your wondering: County Cork is on the south coast of Ireland. Cork City, has a population of I think around 500,000 people. Cork Harbour is apparently the second largest natural harbour in the world. Not in terms of how busy it is, not by a long shot, but in terms of its natural size. It is a major port here in Ireland though.)
Couold you possibly add in a small "Price as tested" segment to all of your videos, to add a bit of here's the cost, now let me show you what you're getting. Love the videos, keep them coming !
Usually we put the price on our captain's report on boattest.com. - the reason we don't mention price is that some boats are custom, other dealers have special prices, but we know its a huge request so will discuss about sharing it on the description paragraph.
Thanks for this review, we need more cruisers in the 40-50' range. Not that those 60'ers are cool, but long-range cruising for most of us normal folks will be on a boat in the 40-50' range. With Grand Banks, Navigator, etc getting out of this segment, there aren't many choices left.
Helmsman TH-cam page has a quick video of this boat with a decent sized inflatable on the deck and a davit. Super nice trawler by the looks of it. Impressive quality and construction!
Two of my uncles are fishermen. This boat reminds me of a fishing trawler that they and a few other men work on. I like it. I love Wonder if there is a professional version of this trawler for professional fishermen like them? Yes, that would require a very different set up from a yacht, but this boat does remind me of the traditional fishing trawlers back in the day. Imagine two Trawlers like this one, with a long rope line in between them, holding up a net, with bouys on the rope. Then the nets gey hauled in once they fill up with fish and the fishing trawlers take turns at each haul they get to take on their boat to sell to market when they get back to land. Yes, this was my one and only experience of professional fishing on the trawler as a kid with my dad and uncle many, many, years ago. I was just there for the adventure as a kid.
I love this vessel, is there room for a water maker? If you remove the washer and install a stabilizer unit is there room somewhere else for the washer/dryer?
everything is possible with Helmsan trawler. Lots of things like this are customizable but I would reach out to them via our website: boattest.com/boats/helmsman-trawlers/43e-pilothouse-review
I've heard you mention in other videos that a boat will drift to starboard when reversing. Why does this happen? (Long time listener, first time caller)
I've only had much smaller boats, but interested in a liveaboard for winters down south. So, my engineering explanation goes: In reverse, the "down tilted prop-shaft" is causing the top half of the prop to push water "up" against the hull, causing no effect. But the bottom of the prop is grabbing water and pushing it forward, and to port in this case. Since the vector of the force on the water is forward to port, the force on the propellor is rearward, to starboard. Also, consider the prop as a wheel, riding on the bottom. Its rotation "rolls" the bottom to starboard, hence the term "prop walk" as if the blades are walking over the bottom. I hope that makes sense.
That should be in the "Features" video, whenever they get it posted. Standard is a two cabin layout. www.helmsmantrawlers.com/helmsman-trawlers/helmsman-trawlers-43e-pilothouse-exterior-interior/
If they made the skeg deeper and lowered the shaft a bit, i bet you could get 15kts out of that hull by dropping in a QSL9 of about the same horsepower (380) and a 30" prop.
Love Capt. Steve, but a "36 inch COLOR tv"? Can we get a black and white TV? Too funny. And you can always tell when it's a classically styled boat... Capt. Steve wears a blazer.
Love boats with salons instead of saloons. Always good to do hair instead of serving drinks. Or maybe you’re just being a POSH dock guy, or a salesman.
haha kind of agree with you. Great question! BoatTEST is starting a Trawler Tuesday column in our newsletter. In the meantime look at the Magellano 60. ; )
This particular boat is the reason I buy lottery tickets!
The NMPG chart is off. At 1500 rpm I get 2.7 NMPG

Put a Sharrow prop on this and away we go!

I like that olden looking wooden helm wheel. Reminds me of pirate and the like ships in books, movies and computer games.

Yes. I agree. Great wood all around that helm area. The wooden finish on the door too.
An excellent coastal cruiser. Alaska to south america. Santa Barbara to Hawaii you would be swimming the last 1,000 miles.
Nice, I was on Lake Union an hour before watching this. Great trawler for the Puget Sound.
Wondering would you do a "MY BEST 5 PICKS" on trawlers, fishing boats, and etc.??
Very functional boat with good gear and an economical burn rate. Maybe Trawlers are going to make a strong comeback.

Nope this video was shot here in Seattle, pretty easy to spot for any local
@@mvcharisma yeah. It looks very different. It's just some parts look similar. But overall it definitely doesn't look like Cork Harbour at all.
@@davidodonovan1699 Cork is definitely a place I would like to visit in the future, I hope to compare the harbours some day
@@mvcharisma God bless you sir. And God bless the USA. Love to you all over there.

Base price for the 43E is $651k according to the Helmsman website.

Is it possible there is an error with the performance data, underestimating the fuel economy?
7.3 knots / 2.7 gph = 2.7 nmpg. not 0.6 nmpg.
Very nice features and fit/finish! I’d take the sea keeper gyro over the washer/dryer for sure. I’d like a bit more speed, too.
Beyond their own videos, I haven't had much luck finding many other videos on these boats...I've been very intrigued by them.

This looks like a Great boat nicely finished 😊 Great Review 👍 😊
The fuel burn at 1500 rpm is 0.6 nmpg ?
Looks like a great, Great Loop candidate!
You said Coastal cruiser, is it capable of trans oceanic crossing? Or was is it more of a B certified vessel?
Looks like a nice Loop boat, though I might like more speed (in reserve, just for safety).
Why did you skip the sleeping quarters?
Does this boat have a galley and on-suite? Is there a place to rest (bed etc)?
Is there a bed??
Are twins a bbn available? To take this var offshore I would want backup
All that interior space, comfortable seating, and expansive windows. We sailboaters would get spoiled by all that comfort and ease.

Nice looking trawler, do the make an offshore version?
What’s the MSRP on that vessel Captain Steve?
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Does it have any accommodation?

Love this boat! Much more realistic to own than some trawler yachts.

One your reviews it would help to give a average price in US. Dollars. Thank you, nice job and nice boat.
usually we have them on our captain's report on boattest.com.
Base price for the 43E is $651k according to the Helmsman website.
It needs cupholders at the helm. As well as a wireless charging panel & USB ports.
Could this make the great loop?
Really needs a secondary power option for when you're out to sea and that main engine has an issue. Otherwise a nice lookin boat.
Great job!
Any cabins? Bathrooms? If not its just a fishing boat.
Yes! Please visit boattest.com. for latest tests. We usually split up the tests in two videos when they are big boats.
Lovely boat!
Very nicely made boat.
Wow that's a great boat beautiful
I thought these were Class A Yachts for open ocean.
I guess you forgot to include the "full sea trial and performance evaluation."
9:40 we talk about test numbers. this was a sea trial. If you need more info please visit boattest.com
Love the Helmsman Trawler line!! On drawback is max cruise speed. If only she could cruise at 13 knots at 16-17!?!?
Very well designed boat, they know what they're doing.
Nice
If i win the lottery!
Don’t conflate “simplistic” with “simple.” They have meanings that are quite different.
Mashaallah, ❤️

nice boat but crappy walkthrough. Jump here there no layout .
if you don't a mast and sails, pretty soon, with the price of fuel, you won't be able to take these fuel hogs away from the dock.
weres the bedrooms or the bathroom lol
Not a very good walk through. Didn’t even show salon, galley, staterooms.
Messed up flow

Anybody knows about a trawler brand that makes the interiors in contemporary style and not like they were built 100 years ago?
