Replace your worn out, inexpensive CV boots before dirt and grime destroy your expensive CV Joint. A good CV boot seal is critical for CV joint protection and longevity on your ATV. The Tusk CV Boot Banding Tool allows you to easily and properly secure your CV boot bands on your UTV/ATV. We demonstrate how to replace the cv boot on a Polaris RZR axle.

You should edit the title to state “non pound off cv joint” or something to that nature. I watched two videos to try to learn how to replace the boot only that had pound off style axle joints. I struggled hard until I finally pulled out that ring clip and found the c-clip inside that I had been pounding against. Found this video after. Man I wish I would have watched this video first. Would have saved me a couple hours of stress. Awesome vid. Thank you.
Same here!
Great video. We purchased a used 2013 GEM E2 with split CV boots. The inside boots are dry. We will use this video as a guide.
EXCELLENT, DETAILED info on how to correctly replace boots! This can also apply to car CV joints! Simply awesome info sir! Thank you!
Great video. I have a 2008 polaris 700. Am trying to replace the rear inner cv boots but there are no c clips holding the joint together. Do I need to tap the bearing off the shaft like outer cv joints? Any help would be appreciated.
Yours might have metal that was pounded downwards with a punch which can be a btch to redo after all is said and done
Thank you! So much bad info out there! I can tackle this but I'm no mechanic and definitely appreciate the help.
when I pulled the plunging joint off the race all my ball bearings fell out all over, how come your ball bearings stayed in the race and my didn't ? what did i do wrong, so much for putting them back in the same place..
Great informative job Dustin Sir.......................one of the best on this cv topic
nice details, good detail on the rotation of the bands too
Man I did mine yesterday and I was hustling to put it back ,it just came off from the clamp today , probably it was smaller diameter boot
Purchased from you simply because of how informative this video was. Too bad they pull the "lower 48" shipping scam...
I have aftermarket custom axles on my 2009 Polaris ranger 700. How do I determine what size diameter cv boots I need
damn i have to remove n replace both to do my bad outter? can i leave inner plunging joint on machine? this is over my pay grade lol
Excellent sir!
I have a 2013 RZR eps; the front axel needs a CV boot replacement. Is the inboard boot and the outboard the same boot P/N or different like on the rear as shown in your video?
The inboard and outboard boots are different.
Dont worry about the cv banding tool and cutters just use a Jubilee Clip.
Great video. Thank you.
I’m struggling to get the bearing housing off of the shaft after I got it out of the plunging unit, I’m not seeing any snap ring to grab hold of to release it.
If you aren't seeing any retainer clip on the top of your bearings, you may have the style with a circlip on the inside. Check out this video we have about the other style of CV Axles: th-cam.com/video/5LB5HWHsrTE/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps you.
@@rmatvmc thank you! Super helpful videos, greatly appreciated!
This ended up being a disaster for me 😂 my old oem ones don’t have a clip to release the bearing housing from shaft. My aftermarket ones where able to separate those two but couldn’t get the bearings separately from the shaft itself and all the bearings blew everywhere when my last resort was pounding it out 😂😂😂😂
How to use the clamps that came with tool there is no no notches to bend down tight
Great video
What if we don’t have that tool you out the band on, could we just use a hose clamp?
It just depends what type of clamp you're using. There are cv boot kits that come with regular band clamps that don't require any special tools.
Good video ! :D
Step by step
Recommended for clients and specialist
Job well done
I ned the axel for journey 2008 2014 800cc do you have
how didnt the bearing balls fall out when he took the inner off? mine did, r they bad? n should the metal that holds the bearings have hot spots, im told yes from factory, wasnt sure if they got too hot ?
Sounds like it's worn out! It's possible to remove the ball bearings by rotating the race and cage, but they shouldn't just fall out on their own. Haven't seen the "hot spots" but if it looks different than the race and cage we show in the video, it's probably bad. Sounds like your best bet is to buy a new CV axle. -Charles
@@rmatvmc ty! yea when we took off the inner to replace outer the balls fell out just holding it, n on google tons of pics with hotspots around the outer race ppl sayn factory does that but i think your right. only thing is it has low miles n the inner didnt leak grease, n i have no odd sounds.....?
How do I replace 2011 John Deere 825i front cv boot
How to put boot on a2016 Polaris 900 rangret
Good video, thank you .
You might have the boots backwards.... would make more sense that the larger/longer one be inner since it articulates in and out🤷🏼♂️
Alfred Ferrill The inner boot doesn't move as much as the front boot does especially when cornering that's why it has the extra fold in it. Hope that clears that up for you.
Do you sell all the tools and everything in your video?
Yes! If you go to the links in the descriptions of our how-to videos, we always include links to all the tools that we used for the video. Sometimes there are tools we use that we don't sell, like an impact driver etc., but anything in the video we sell will be in the links!
Ok awesome thank you
What this tool used to tight the clamp
Did the banding clamp come with the kit?
Yes, most CV boot kits will come with 2 clamps.
Are the all balls axles good
The All Balls axels are a great option for your vehicle.
There is a small shop here in west va on the hatfield mccoy trail system , they sell the all balls axles , shop name is ziggys
Never getting a CV boot banding tool. Gonna try stainless hose clamps.
Howed th hoseclamps work
@jamesmiller7283 good, no issues, had to find some with slightly narrower bands then put on two in a series with the adjustment mechanisms on opposite sides for balance.
No good ,but VERY GOOD job ! I like it !
Unfortunately, my axle isn't already laying on my table. But thanks.
We have videos showing how to remove the axles on various machines. You can search "axle" on our channel and see if we have a video on your machine.
I know right
Haha, wish I had a bench vice too
Nice job with the video, thank you.
I replaced the CV boots on the drivers rear axle but I'm having trouble reseating the rear axle into the rear gear box. I have not replace the spring clip. Could this be the issue? I had no trouble removing the axle at the start.
I RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM , GET SOMEONE TO SPIN THE WHEEL ON THE OTHER SIDE SLOWLY WHILE YOU PUSH ON YOUR AXLE AND IT SHOULD JUST SLIDE IN .
Good video but. You know you got grease where band goes. Thats why you cut video. Near impossible not to.
Ya facts...I did the relieve pressure thing on the smaller ring side and sploosh came right through
Excelente vídeo e información muy profecional, gracias porque necesito cambiar uno de esos
Are all cv boot the same size on atv
Relatively close most extreme ones like oversized for lifts and thicker used for mudding tend to need oversized ones
Is it possible to order just the inner cv snap ring?
have you checked the OE diagrams?
excellent video👍
Thanks *Cesar Mendez!*
Great Video. Seems fairly doable.
Thanks!
can i reuse the cer clip?
Many people reuse them if they're in good shape but it is always recommended to use a new circlip.
@@rmatvmc hi n ty, that ring doesnt hav the 2 tiny holes for snprng liers, how do i remove?(didnt see that) also do u have that part number in case its not in my kit? n the boot prt nmbr would b grt as nothing matches the numbers on my stock one....ty
You may be able to use two flathead screw drivers to remove the retaining ring: one to hold one side and one pry the other side. Snap ring pliers can still be used even on circlips without the holes to help pry both ends apart. The part numbers with vary depending on your specific machines. You can use our OEM parts finder to locate the circlips you need.

@@rmatvmc 2016.5 lol dealer said i may have a 17 front end as factory started using them, ace570sp. ty
@@rmatvmc ps will i need new nylon lok nuts n a torque wrench for the castle nut? cant believe all this for a boot
Good video, but could’ve been more informative if you showed people how to get the cv axle off to be able to replace the boot.
Thank you for the feedback!
