You forgot a couple things most manufacturers tell you to change your oil way later than you should its usually best to change 3k to 5k not 7.5k or 10k also going to the quick change places is not a good thing i have known several people that got screwed by them wrong oil not enough oil too much oil not tightening the drain bolt or even over tightening it and i have know people that have worked at those places and a lot of them hate there jobs and dont care about there work !!!! Its best to learn how to do basic maintenance your self i had to learn because i could not afford too take my cars to a mechanic but im glad i learned luckly i had a dad that tought me how to do some of the stuff most i figured out read books then internet really helped!!!!

For corn sakes, wen-ya remove old oil filter, look see if the gasket came with it! I seen a feller put new filter on top of old gasket. Wen he gut up 2 highway speed it burst, with oil all over road. Funny the sound of a 350 V8 exploding. Ya hear 2 explosions in a row.
