I love this! Two friends helped me stain last year and it still took us two full days. Staining by myself this year and have been dreading it. Didn’t think to use a sprayer. But I have a tip, if you put the top strap of your mask around the top part of the crown of your head it seals better and won’t pull down so badly - signed a nurse who has to wear them all the time 😊
I was looking at this particular product and this video was perfect. I have a fence in the backyard in serious need of some TLC. So first is the fence cleaning and after drying for a few days I'll be staining it and this was some very helpful tips. Thanks.
We're glad this inspired you, Julie! The Control Pro 130 would be a great option for staining your fence. A lot of the same tips can apply as well! Quick tip: The Control Pro 130 comes with a 515 spray tip that's ideal for spraying latex paint. If you're spraying stain, we'd recommend purchasing a 413 or 311 spray tip.
If you used a water-based stain then you'd simply flush the sprayer with water. If you used an oil-based stain then you'd have to use a thinner like mineral spirits.
Thank you for asking! What is the type/brand of oil you're using? If it's a thinner stain then we'd recommend a 413 or 311 tip. Also, make sure the material has a minimum flash point of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (flammable materials should not be used in the sprayer)
Thank you for your question! Thompson's wood sealers work great with Wagner sprayers, since they offer both oil-based stains and water-based products. These airless sprayers do not require thinning, but they do require the correct tip size. The maximum tip size for the Control Pro 130 is .015", which is the 515 that comes with the package. Tip size information is usually found on the back of the can. Let us know if you have any more questions! Happy staining!😀
Thanks for your question! You can use both water-based and oil-based stains and paints with our Control Pro 130. If you have any other specific questions about our products, feel free to reach out. We're here to help!😁🎨
Hello! Yes, you can spray solid colored stain! The sprayer comes with a 515 spray tip that can be used with some thicker solid stains, but if it's on the thinner side then we'd recommend purchasing a 413 stain tip separately
Hi there! Deck stain and deck paint have different purposes. Stain enhances the natural look of wood and protects it, while paint provides a solid color. Stain can cover old deck boards with proper prep. If you need more info, we're here to help! 😊
That step will depend on the type of stain you're using and the wood you're spraying. In most cases if the proper steps are followed, you won't need to follow along with a rag
@Wagner Spraytech Appreciate the vid and the links in the comments for attachments and so forth. What was that clear wrap you used to protect the house so I get some of that before tackling my deck? Please advise on the best paint to use to seal the deck as well as stand up to pets running up/down the deck without scratching thru the paint before you do it again in a few years? Thanks
Here's an example of tape and plastic that you can use. We recommend going to your local paint store and inquire about a durable, outdoor paint. It's super easy! Instead you'd clean with mineral spirits, but follow all the same steps by cleaning the gun and hopper. We have a cleaning video on our channel.
It's important to make sure the deck boards are dry after power washing to make sure the new stain adheres correctly. That can generally take 1-3 days depending on your deck boards, climate and weather.
Couple of dry days for sure and then check it by putting a couple drops of water on deck somewhere and see if the wood absorbs it, it it does then get er dun!

My interior walls are T1 11 plywood. If I put on a clear coat sealer how often do I need to have it done on the inside since it's not out in weather or direct sun?
We'd recommend checking the information on the sealer you're using. They should have a recommendation for when to apply a fresh coat. If you choose a standard sealer designed for indoor use then it should last for years without issue.
Do you know which sprayer they have? Most of our sprayers can easily spray sealer since it's thin. If it's an airless sprayer, just make sure you have a sealer tip like the 413 or 311.
We are not sure of the exact color used, but if you head to your local home improvement store, look at the dark semi-transparent stain to find something similar!
Yes, you can run sealer through the sprayer afterwards or buy a stain with a pre-mixed sealer. You will also need to purchase a stain tip (sold separately) since the sprayer comes with a tip designed for latex paints
