Wish we got motorocycles as DLC for modern Gran Turismo

In some of the old GT HD/Vision Gran Turismo footage from 2006, both Bikes and cars could be seen racing against each other in Tokyo R246

I agree, even if they separated the bikes from the cars just so we could use the bikes on the tracks. A Tourist Trophy DLC pack would be great. It could probably work.
As someone coming from Gran Turismo 4, the UI both feels familiar and trippy at the same time.
Most things are where you'd expect but the vehicles are bikes...
Now we just need to see Dustin's real life motorcycle license test
Motorcycle licence is harder than car driving licence and he doesn't have car driving licence yet. You need to have good ability to drive in normal roads but also need to pass bike handling tests and those are hardest part of motorcycle driving licence.

@@TheNone724 Yeah, I know it's harder since I owned a motorcycle license. But that's understandable and kinda surprising he doesn't have his car license yet. Just for the info, riding a motorcycle is super fun even though you're always one nudge away from death 😂

You know someone knows nothing about bikes if they don’t even know that bikes have front and rear brakes separate lol
Its also better to use the front brakes the most and use both brakes only for when you have to brake hard.

Tourist Trophy is the reason I got interested in motorcycles, just as Gran Turismo got me interested in cars. You should definitely put some hours into it and possibly move on to the Ride series. It’s surprisingly easy to understand motorcycle history if you are into cars.
Also motard is the term for bikes that are essentially dirt bikes with road tires, the riding style is different because you hold your foot out on the inside instead of putting your knee down. This is done because a dirt bike or motard seat is much higher than a sport bike, naked/standard or cruiser.
And Riding Spirits. RS2 had a lot more variety than Tourist Trophy
@@jessaphillips2846 The term motard is not really common in German, if anything as part of bike name like the Ducati Hypermotard, which of course only people who know that stuff know. The term used in Germany is Supermoto.
@@multi21racing from what i know supermoto is the universal one but the enthusiasts prefer motard, supermoto is the professional category for the bike style/type

@@KamisKapiThe Blackbird didn't go faster than 300 km/h, the Hayabusa was the kickstarter of it and the H2R is a recent bike, on top of a track-only monster.
Ah yes, the gentleman's agreement and the myth of "The Letter." Nobody knows if the agreement is real, or who (if anyone) made the call to limit speed. All we know is that after the release of the Suzuki Hayabusa, motorcycles were limited to 300km/h. And almost every bike is electronically limited to that magic number to this day.

The problem with Tourist Trophy is you have to hold L1 down to duck and it's just an absolute pain doing that for most of a race.
Jesus, that sounds awful.
I have R1 as the tuck button, L1 as back view and select as change camera, Everything else is default and it works just fine for me.
It's not a pain if you ride bikes in real life. It's kinda weird tucking in during the straights, but an awesome feeling using the wind as an additional stopping power. Can't really compare it with cars.
You could set it to tuck automatically on straits in settings
Midnight Club 3 had that too, Choppers of America races were brutal
I remember renting that as a kid. I had no idea it was made by the same people as Gran Turismo, but one of my first thoughts when playing it was "wow, this looks just like GT4." I looked for it again a couple years later but forgot the name, and oddly "motorcycle game like Gran Turismo 4" didn't find anything about it so I forgot about it till just now.
James never disappoints with his editor shenanigans he does for these streams.
Hopefully he appears in the next Pepega mod installment as well.

This game is the SINGLE REASON I still have my PS2 up and running and even bought an expensive upscaler after the CRT TV broke. No, not even for GT4. There are other games like GT4 that can somewhat fill that gap today. No game can replace of Tourist Trophy. It is, to this date, 17 years after its release, THE motorcycle racing game. Nothing even comes remotely close.

@@multi21racingfrom what I've seen from other motorcycle games, they are all very forgiving when bikes bang (just watch most MotoGp gameplays, it's a wreckfest but nobody falls) and when going off the track

Tourist trophy is the goat bike game. I got into it by just doing endless laps of trial mountain. After a week of being addicted to it I thought I'd check the forums and it turned out I was 5th in the world for trial mountain haha. The ducati is so good.
Not sure if you have played any of the Ride series but they are pretty fun once you get that hand of the super early turn in points
Ride 4 is definitely worth checking
I bought TT Isle of Men - Ride on the Edge 3 a few days ago. I race cars for a long time and have also been on track with my bike. The TT game was the first time I was scared in or on a vehicle, and it's a freaking game man...

35:00 Thats always a debate: Yes a Dodge Demon can kill you as much as a 1.0 Ford Fiesta. But while Muscle/ Sportcars cost 80k and are hopefully unobtainable for a young inexperienced driver, you can get a really fast bike for 10k.

This game was legit great. The physics were quite good, which is rare for a motorcycle game. I really wish they would include bikes in the modern GT.

FYI - To get the most acceleration from a motorcycle your wheel will inevitably lift, the fine point is just barely off the ground applying the most torque you can without affecting the aerodynamics.
Same, I have no expectations of ever riding a bike, but this game was still very fun back then, played it a lot.

The test at 38 minutes is not a troll test. It is probably a test of your reaction time and hard turning skills. I had to do a test like that while learning how to drive an atv, bikes probably have a similar test

really miss this game. I finished the whole game. It was a big grinding moment for me at that time, the first 'sim' bike game I've ever encountered. the bikes are pretty cool and complete for the game released in 2006.

I've been riding motorcycles for about 21 years now. Yes, they are riskier, But also more rewarding. Funny thing is though, I never knew polyphony even made a motorcycle focused game so It'll be my first time playing this now.
Finally, an "exclusive" Motorcycle Racing Games (as an "DLC" version of Gran Turismo 4).
Yet until this time some Motorcycle Game simulator have been made from Italian developer, Milestone as "Ride Series".
I really wondering if Kaz want to revive this game....
(Yes, I really want a more scooter, maybe add a moped, trail (for off-road mode i think), and anything than just only Supermoto, Cafe, Naked and Sportbike there...)

The ones I love the most are those where you go through a lesser known / forgotten game from a few generations back, like this one, Sega GT or Tokyo Xtreme.
I have a recommendation of an unique game from that era, which you possibly know / have played but I didn't see any video about it: Auto Modellista, made by Capcom for the PS2 / GameCube/ Xbox.
That game is one of a kind in so many ways, the cel shaded visuals, customization options, garage builder mode, it's just so different from other games of the period!
If you've never played it, you're in for a treat. I recommend playing the GameCube version, it is noticeably better than the PS2.

I commented on your stream the other day suggesting you should do all the PGR games, i forgot to mention that all of them are playable on the xbox 360 because the first 2 work with the backwards compatibility. And they are extremely cheap games to buy
PGR 4 is fully playable through xenia on pc, actually doesn't have a sound bug that plagued 360 version and was never fixed

This is a game that I've known about and owned for *YEARS,* yet I have never bothered to even pop the disc into my PS2 to actually try it out. Honestly this video made it look just interesting enough to actually give it a try. It's literally the only other HD game I own for PS2 other than GT4, so at least it will be a visual treat. Kind of like this video - the editing was crazy.
its a shame you have to do so much patching to get this game to work on PCSX2 one day it will be 100% playable like GT4
This has always been one of my favourite PS2 era games, full stop. It flew under the radar here in Australia but my love for everything Polyphony had me champing at the bit to give it a go. I did watch a fair bit of motorcycle racing growing up as we had a number of world champion riders through the 90s and 00s and all of their bikes were in this game so I just had to give it a go. If you love GT4 and have even a passing curiosity about motorcycles, absolutely give this a go!
As a Motorcycle rider I can confirm, we like to play with fire 😂

If you've never played the four ATV Offroad Fury games on PS2, I highly recommend them. ATV Offroad Fury 4 is the best IMO, best music and four vehicle types to choose from.
I believe we've never seen a sequel to this because Polyphony desires a more intuitive controller to represent a bike, whereas cars have racing wheels. The PS2 was an era where they actually made a few motorcycle racing controllers. I actually have the Yamaha PS2 Motorcycle Controller and use it on PC for the Ride games, it's fun but really difficult.
Wow I had no idea that thing existed, pretty neat! Awesome they made it work for PS2/Xbox/Gamecube all with one controller too. Might have to pick one up some day
Nah they just suck. Polyphony sucks in my opinion. They focus to much on Japanese crap for a western game. Japan HATES motorcycles with extreme predictive. All bikers there are seen as criminals.

I actually finished playing Tourist Trophy on PS2 back then, and the hardest part is playing the mimic (8hrs/12hrs) challange instead they change it to 30/50 laps. And yes, TT doesn't have auto play/pilot like GT4 did and you gotta play it manually. And the best body form are "lean body" and set the tuck in as auto, so that you always at attack position.
TT applies every bikes setting combination like GT4, so yes editing final ratio and gear does effect how the bikes accelerate and top speed. Suspension compression, rebound, preload also dramatically affect on how fast & sharp you can take a corner.
God the memories!!!!!!!!!! I got this game when I was 7 and I played it religiously for years. My mom’s ex was a huge motorcycle enthusiasts and bought this game the same day he bought a sliver BMW Motorrad K1200S '05. And that same bike was in the game so in my head I was “training” myself to understand that bike so one day I would ride it. He would sometimes go to racetracks my mom and I would tag along to see him do some laps.

I always found it a shame that there wasn't any cruiser motorcycles in this game. The Honda Rune would have been really cool to see.
The Rune would be sick, agreed. A Goldwing/Valkyrie cup would be fun to watch. Also, I don't think the game has Adventure bikes either. Not that there's any reason to race a Super Ténéré or an Africa twin on road.

You found my favorite PS2 game. Glad to hear someone who doesn't know bikes appreciate the helmet cam. It's still the best to this day, Ride 5 included. If you get all golds on the tests you get the cover helmet and suit 😎

Hey Dustin, you should check out on-board clips and videos from the Isle of Man TT event. The guys that do that event actually are crazy lol (the event actually has triple digit fatalities unfortunately).
Drive club also had the bike expansion which is definitely worth checking out!

Yeah, no, motorbikes are fucking terrifying as a concept. Where a car has a ton of metaa weighing it down and limiting how fast it can move and accelerate, a motor bike is essentially just an engine, a seat, a pair of wheels, and a steering wheel.
I used to love doing similar builds in gt4 and comparing them to torist trophy laptimes.

This was an amazing game and had some of the best looking bikes, early 2000's were peak for sport bike looks. That R1 is legendary.
