The new oled iPads are stronger than the old iPads due to the way it’s built. The logic board is in the center acting like a spine and it has an overall reinforced frame. So yes it’s thinner. But it’s also much stronger.
I keep waiting for someone to compare the iPad to Angela from the office. iPad Pro? Where’s iPad Pro? Oh there it is, could see you being that grain of rice. Boom roasted!
I guarantee you in like three or four years they're going to make the edges round again. It's kind of obvious that they are running out of ideas on how to make these from different from one another. Because yearly releases doesn't make any sense for anyone other than the shareholders.
Round edges will never come back because they were from a time with bigger bezels and lower screen to body ratios. In this day and age, you need flat edges to maximize internal space and screen to body ratio. Round edges are just a waste of space.
I’d honestly be mad if there were that many people that liked the mini form factor that didn’t buy it because they felt it was gimped compared to the pro versions.
I’m borrowing an iPad Air for a project, and the iPad is thinner than my iPhone 15 pro max, but even back when the iPad 2 came out, it was thinner than the iPhone 4. The iPad is more spread out while the iPhone is condensed into a smaller unit.
My iPhone checklist: *Battery last at least 24 hours *OLED screen/120hz display *LET ME ADD MORE THAN 5 ICONS TO DOCK (yes, I know you can use folders but that's and extra tap I don't want to bother with) *No pill notch (not the biggest deal)
If they want it to be much lighter, they should use magnesium rather than aluminium/titanium. Microsoft have used it in the Surface for a while and it feels great.
Hear me out. Get rid of iPhone Pro models, and have a small, medium, and large iPhone with the Pro features. And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS maintain feature parity (don't give the Max a better camera, etc.). If you want to keep the SE in the lineup, that's fine for the low budget market.
Here’s the thing I actually don’t care if they make the iPhone thinner because it’s made out of titanium it won’t bend. The iPad Pro while it surprise me how strong it is considering it’s only out of aluminum. I’m totally shocked they didn’t make the 13 inch iPad Pro out of titanium, especially since they won an extra $100 that seems like a pure cash grab compared to the air models, which only has the $200 price difference between the sizes.
When I switched to iOS in 2022, I immediately noticed that the 13pro felt like a brick in hand compared to Samsung (though I'm not turning back, iOS is the way to go). To me, any change that makes the iPhone feel more nimble in hand - is welcome.
About the iPad being thinner there’s actually a reason for that. To allow the new Magic Keyboard better weight distribution the iPad had to be made thinner and lighter so it wasn’t top heavy and wouldn’t flip. As the new Magic Keyboard allows the iPad to be bent further back. This design wouldn’t be possible if the iPad was as heavy and as thick as it was before.
Give me an iPhone the size and thickness of an iPhone 6 with a 35mm equivalent single lens, no camera bump, all the latest tech and the best battery possible and I would be in heaven! 1080p screen would be just fine too.
Realistically, the only way Apple would make a mini iPhone or even a "mini pro" Apple first needs to figure out how to make it have all day battery life, while also keeping thermals down. People are willing to have a smaller form factor for those that already have a mac, or an iPad, or those that just talk and text. But they're put off with a reduced battery life compared to the regular iPhone.
My thought is that I’m alright with a thinner phone w/ same battery, because then I can add a battery case that prolly doubles battery life and then isn’t SUPER thick. I like the idea of splitting the iPhone lineup into “slim” and “pro”. And then have an SE that’s cheaper than all the rest. My dream phone would be a slim mini. It can live in a battery case that wouldn’t be too bulky, and I can take it out of the case whenever I want to drool over how smol it is.
Honestly, I would much rather have a slightly thicker iPhone to get rid of the camera bump. That, and making the backs plastic again to eliminate the need for cases that hide the colors of the iPhone.
@@broskibrobro1278Thank you for saying that. People always just dunks on Apple when literally every other company are also out of ideas since the smartphone has pretty much matured.
Here’s how I would do the iPhone lineup: iPhone (5.4 in display/“mini-esk”, iPhone Pro (6.1 in Display/current Pro), iPhone Ultra (7in Display/ The best with every new feature/overkill)
You said what I’ve been feeling for months. Spot on man! The iPhone 15 Pro (my current phone) is and will be one of the best phones for years to come. It will most likely be the last ever pro model with a 6.1 inch screen, and also the last *somewhat small* model with promotion technology, 3 cameras and usb-c. PS. …… I am 1000% in with you if they bring pro features to the base versions by the 17. Just give me a big battery (at least 24 hour lifespan), 120hz, two excellent cameras, usb-c, and I’d be sold with that on a base model 17. The older I get, the more I realize that the only reason to upgrade yearly is to be ubiquitously influenced. I plan to keep my matte black 15 Pro 512gb until it either breaks or the battery fails, and I don’t see either happening for the foreseeable future!
If you put the camera in the middle, that puts it right behind the selfie camera, and I don't see how that would work space-wise. If you make the iPhone much bigger, then it ends up replacing the iPad Mini.
Yes! This is great news, iPhone 7 was the perfect size (thickness wise) X/XS/11Pro height and width were the best dimensions. Personal opinion obviously
Your opening segment was great! You hit the nail on the head with this! The thinness means all new accessories and Apple gets away with it because all the Apple worshipers don’t care about the cost of buying the new accessories Apple will keep doing this if nobody cares
The pricing is wrong, not the sizing (or thinness). Make a 200-300 price gap between plus and pro models and you’ll see those sales boost up a bit. Pro phone buyers will buy them regardless. Its the casual walk in the stores or buy them mid cycle ppl that buy the regular/plus model phones. They just see price tags and go “oh if its only a 100 more, might as well”
I urge all iPhone owners to move to the Fibonacci upgrade cycle immediately. Anyone with an iPhone 13 and wait for the next Fibonacci number, the iPhone 21. That way: you get to skip all this thinner is better madness and the bigger is better madness. My girlfriend says 6.7 inches is the most she can handle and that it's difficult to slide it around in your hand if it's too thin without risk of permanently bending it when you accidentally wobble it in your hand as its slick with sweat and essential spice melange.
I hope they don’t make it thinner because the battery life is so bad already, if it gets thinner they don’t need to include a battery anymore because it wouldn’t make a difference
They are going to add a capture button dispute already having 3 ways to aces the camera on the 15 Pro series. I think they ran out of ideas a while ago hence capture button, bigger screens, inner designs, etc
I love me 15 plus, such an amazing battery life, honestly the only things missing are the pro motion and fast charging, as I switched to iPhone in 2021, and was quite used to both of these features, rest everything is amazing
If you prefer small phones that’s good , personally I like the bigger size phones , I go against the grain , but I’d rather have a bigger wider thicker tall phone with all the bells and whistles, bigger easier to read and type on display, a chunky phone means less compromises in the hardware, better cameras , bigger better battery size , and a sturdy build . Look at the new iPad , people would have been just as happy with the previous models slightly thicker girth , and Apple would have had an opportunity to put a bigger battery in, and that is always a crowd pleaser. Alas , a completely different design, and maybe it is as robust as the old model, but it’s super thin form makes it harder to hang on to, especially for those of us with big mitts. I will use my iPhone 13 Mini until “the wheels come off”. That should answer your question in this video. My 13 Mini is the 4th iPhone I have owned in 11 years. By far it is the best one of all in every way.
When you think about the foldables and thinner phones or tablets it kind of make sense from Apple to make these thinner... For example if this is the thinnest Ipad and then we get a thinner Iphone, and since foldables usually look like two phones stacked when closed, It is possible for them to make a foldable ipad or iphone that is very thin as a foldable with decent battery life for a foldable from the start of their line-up
Apple should make the regular iPhone and pro size 5.8”, then have the plus and pro max being 6.3”. Then they should make a separate Ultra iPhone at 6.9” with all the expensive features This way they can do smaller phone whilst still charging $999 and giving people a massive option that’s really expensivr
I dunno about bigger displays. Don't get me wrong. I love large displays. I currently have a Galaxy S22 Ultra and that is pretty much my limit. The iPhone Pro Max's are huge too. At some point we gotta agree upon a limit. Like are we just gonna walk around with iPad Mini Mini's in the future? Foldable isn't the answer either.
