Wow... It's so disrespectful what they did to Hvitserk! The guy allegedly preferred to die burning than covert to catholicism and on the show they made him do it... 😢

Yupp all the characters that died in real life Vikings kept alive and the ones that died in old age they killed off, soo crazy lol

Many of the kings of Sweden/Norway/Denmark of the accepted "Viking age" rose to power because of this, either forcing the conversion or rebellion against it. Harold Fairhair was a Christian proponent. Rollo accepted the faith in order to gain land, riches, and a wife, as well as a way to leave his home troubles behind only he never completely gave up his so called heathen ways.

But Ivar was Ragnar's oldest son. He led the great heathen army.

Not that trustworthy of a history is it, kinda seems like they used part of the movie. He was the most feared Viking ruler. His name was more like Heartless or Hated, their language is different then

I had to come back after watch it through, it's pretty good lol. Just that Ivar was the oldest in real life, I like and agree with a lot of this. Seeing the movie in the background, made me disagree. Though I liked the movie for what it was

    • @HistoricalExit

He died early 10th century, so maybe in the 900s or 910s not in the year 1000 or later

I think the last kingdom did it better even tho in the books they only reference halfdan ivar and ubba. Still fiction but better than vikings

Terrible show. The blatant lies about AngloSaxon side of history of the timeline was too much. What else did they get wrong is the big question.

The raping, pillage and decimation of cultures, history and ppl is AngloSaxon history....Show was great btw

@@venussstar2206It was shockingly historically inaccurate, Only a totally uneducated dimwit would think such an inaccurate show was “ great” You seem the type of person who also thinks Bridgerton is a documentary 😂

Nobody said its historicly accurate, its not at all in fact. I still liked it, despite of that. If it gets people to want to learn more about the period and history, thats a good thing. But since its a tv show, it has to also be fun to watch, which it is.

Then... why did you watch it? Furthermore, all "history" is exactly what it means... HIS STORY. They are usually written hundreds of years after the events. Most couldn't read or write, just the few upper "class" priests or rulers. Old history are merely guesses, and all are unwitnessed tales. (smh... thinks a TV show is crap because it doesn't follow made-up tales. Watch Real Housewives! Now that's totally real... 😂)

You should probably actually listen to his statements. The conclusions made are in direct relation to sources used. Just as with all ancient histories, most information is recorded well after the fact. I, personally, disagree with a few statements in this video. But partially this is due to my Norse and Scandinavian ancestry. While I also have Norman English ancestry, well recorded, this also traced back to Scandinavian roots. All of history can be seen as a guessing game, since we cannot be 100% sure of any written source. So, grain of salt, man. It's all possible.
