- Making Terraria early game ridiculously easy... The Thunder Zapper and Storm Spear. With Terraria 1.4 and its subsequent updates introduce a whole manner of unique progression gapping weapons throughout the game, I figured it was about time we looked at 2 brilliant early game options in particular. With both the Zapper and Spear been underground desert loot however, there is a bit of risk vs reward attached. But lemme tell ya, if your able to get your hands on these things early, you'll be in for a treat well up until post Skeletron! Enjoy!

ngl, I've slept on these for FAR to long.
Dang
Too
Wow
not really, they were trash until their 1.4.4 buff, especially the thunder zapper.
The spear is great but I only got it later game to test it, sad I can’t find it when I want to actually use it to its full potential
I feel like early game is one of those times where finding good loot is harder than late game.
Late game is more abt grinding for good loot rather than searching for it

5:10 Ah yes, my favorite weapons. Thunder Zapper and Spear Spear.
Thunder zapper is so much fun
The spear spear is peak fr fr
@@Vross_MKIInah the flinx staff staff is better
@@dolphin1418the rod rod is better
@@dolphin1418The Flinx Staff and Snapthorn are honestly the best pre-boss weapons in the fact that they are excellent all the way up to Wall of Flesh without needing anything else.
As a Summoner, I have spent much time into considering the advantages of Summoner Progression, one of the reasons being that you can spend incredibly small amounts of time looking for the next best weapon. Many of them are game-shattering at their own points in progression. Literally, the final point in Summoner progression is the Pumpkin Moon and Empress of Light. Both are pre-Golem, which is perfect if you're on the 'fortheworthy' seed, because Golem is a total physical psycho in 'fortheworthy' and 'getfixedboi'. Tiny hitbox, hyper speed, brutal damage, laser Machinegun without missing, ouch.
The Summoner needs very little extra. You can get the Sanguine Staff, Firecracker and Spider Armor and easily reach Plantera on Legendary Mode. Forget Hallowed Armor, because in my weird mind, damage is the most important thing! Forget losing 5% your average DPS for Holy Protection, just keep the Spider Armor until getting Tiki Armor to pave the way to Spooky Armor! You can get the Terraprisma, Kaleidoscope, and Spooky Armor and that's it up to Moon Lord.
my god, 2 weapons at once? you spoil us
I was originally planning on using the thunder zapper in my current mage playthrough, but I got extremely lucky and had a chest spawn right at the edge of the underworld with 26 meteorite bars in it, so I got a pre-boss space gun instead.
?? How ??
So chests spawning in that layer can just give you shadow chest loot even if they aren’t shadow chests?
@@StriderPFonly meteorite bars
@@rendykyaksh4633it’s weird basically just above hell for some reason gold chests have a low chance to spawn meteorite bars

Gotta say these are weapons I usually get when I already have something better, early desert hits hard
I think that's why those weapons must be on the higher side of the underground desert(?
Facts
no one ever talks about the zapper, i almost forget it exists a lot of the time, even though this was one of my first 1.4 weapons i used to kill the eye with my friends. i should totally use it more but the underground desert is just not worth it
Desert underground has the best loot in the early game, but it's so excruciantingly painful to explore it that nobody gets it. Thunder Zapper is 4x better than Diamond staff and alternatives, Storm Spear melts King Slime, Eye of Cthulhu, Eater of Worlds and Brain of Cthulhu easily. Bast statues are just great in early game since they are basically a warding accessory, along with the sandstorm in a bottle, it's the best bottle accessory in the game, Dunerider Boots are way better than Hermes and Ancient Chisel is useful for the entirety of your run.
Thunder Zapper, is all fine and all
But Demon Scythe is my go-to
I usually always rush UG desert ealry game once I have some spelunkers. I think its the most unerrated biome to go to early game not even just because of the weapons but because of scarab bombs, magic conch and the ancient chisel (also I guess fossil armor is neat for rangers). If you just dig and scout for chests with spelunkers and/or metal detector its pretty easy to avoid enemies especially with hunter pots. Scarab bombs are so good to get a quick hellevator done or searching for the shimmer biome and theyre generally great to skip endless slow digging in pre HM and conch just effectively halves any travel time across your world on the surface.
Thunder Zapped carried my first playthrough through the first few bosses- and I usually play Melee!
I always try to rush diamond staff for early game (easier said than done if there's no platinum in the world). Maybe next time I run into that difficulty I'll give the ol' Thunder Zapper a go.
I always get them when I don't need them :/
They usually go on my wall in my desert themed house or the wizard house, because they look cool.
Let's be honest, undertaker/musket do more damage with great range, consistency, and easy of obtainability. Just seems like a no brainer to go for them over these hard to get weapons with several drawbacks.
-_-

THUNDER ZAPPER IS AMAZING AND SUPER EASY TO GET COMPARED TO A DIAMOND STAFF FOR EXAMPLE JUST THE BETTER STAFF THAN THE GEMSTONE ONES
I actually really love exploring the underground desert, I like the gameplay of trying to knock away the rolling cacti while keeping yourself at a safe distance and the enemies are all pretty fun imo (in pre-hardmode, that is.) The unique loot you can get there is also very cool.
The storm spear carried me through getfixboi legendary mode
The thunder zapper was an absolute beast in my mage playthrough, I loved it. 10/10
Ive always loved the Thunder Zapper, it's such a powerful early game Mage weapon that honestly makes mage even bearable in early pHM. Mage is a weak class pre-BOC/EOW, and even after it's not that strong, shame that the Zappinator completely dethrones it and kills all it's heirs to the throne with how much better it is, especially against Skeletron.
So no way my friend and I were hunting for these weapons yesterday and then Sockrteez makes this video. Thank you.
Now time for an a Review of all Deerclops weapons at once
I remember how I killed Skeletron for my first time! It was a mix of the Enchanted Sword, Starfury, and the Thunder Zapper (hurtful reforge). I also had rocket boots and it was fun!

I've been using them from day one of these being added and its nice to see these getting the love they need
I spend hours and hours trying to get them, we eneded up killing wall of flesh, preparing the world so the corruption doesnt spread and still didnt found them
Didnt think id see a guide on these bad boys. Keep up the good work mr. sockrteez
For how early you can get both of those: Absolutely amazing, no resources needed to craft, just top tier.
For where you have to find them: END MY SUFFERING
Been using the Thunder zapper with the Space gun. From my experience it's slightly better at single target than the space gun, but I preferred to use both especially with meteorite armor all the way until I got the water sceptre.
First time I learned about the thunder zapper was when I was grinding for the copper enchantment in fargos. Just shows how many weapons terraria truly has :D
I remember getting the thunder zapper in my very first terraria playthrough, and man it really helped me a lot in the beginning, sad that its not used that much
You need to review the blade staff at some point as the most broken summoner weapon
Storm spear definitely does well early when you're underground and there's enemies on the other sides of walls. The projectile is nice for dealing with enemies outside of your house too
I started my get fixed boy play through 5 days ago and found that staff. It's really a game changer for me
Finally, I asked for this a long time ago and he finally delivered.
I would use these, but underground desert enemies have an infatuation for turning my bones into a fine powder, and snorting them out of my limbs
I love the thunderzapper, its super cool!
Considering how the Underground Desert is probably the hardest biome to explore in early pre-HM, most players will find it too frustrating to go down all the way to the lower part of it to have a chance at a magic weapon that is mostly good for beating 2 bosses and honestly is worse at dealing with regular enemies than a diamond staff that may already be available by the time you even think of exploring the desert.
The Storm Spear is also easily replaceable with e.g. a Blade of Grass in corruption worlds.
But hey, my last early pre-HM venture down there was before they reduced the spawn rate for tomb crawlers and nerfed them. Those constantly spawning were the reason why it was impossible to do *anything* with any level of safety.
To get at least one of them you either spend a ton of time standing still in the oasis or repeatedly die over and over as you go deeper in the desert. Both take a ton of time BUT very worth the effort!
I love going to desert underground early, despite the risk, the rewards are ALL too useful early game (Extractinator, Magic Conch, the two thunder weapons, etc.).
Finding loot in Early Game is very difficult. Even with all the items, they are almost all enemy drops or from Dungeon chests making it very difficult to formulate an early build
Picked them up, but i had night's edge and the shadow spear from Hell by that point and i just preferred those
I'll maybe give the thunder staff another try on my mage playthrough i guess 😀
Honestly storm spear is underrated, im a rotted fork fan and i got pretty much impressed when i got carried with the storm spear against skeletron in for the worthy
I don't like being that guy, but you entered the underground desert and fought the EoC with a Shield of Cthulhu and at least rocket boots already equipped (plus some kind of movement accessories if not spectre boots). True early game, without boots, a hook, or the shield makes it much harder to obtain these items. On classic, it's more reasonable, but at that point you don't need a good weapon to get through the game without any trouble, and these items would only be bonus items from searching for the much more useful conch shell and dunerider boots.
Although I have to admit that the thunder zapper is a good weapon now, I would still choose an amber staff or diamond staff over it. With the addition of gemcorns, accessibility to the regular gem staves is much higher, and a diamond staff's piercing is too valuable in any practical combat setting to prefer the zapper.
Fishing! :D
Lol I found that on my calamity play through and thought it was a modded weapon
Sockrteez: and of course I’m talking about…
Me: huh? What the heck is this?
Good progression is when you get a new weapon and your reaction is “hay this is pretty good”
The thunder zapper got me through pre-boss and eye of cthulu in my first master mode for the worthy playthrough
As a person who "thoroughly despises" the underground desert. I think I'll just fish.
The Zapper is 100% worth it getting every single play trough, even if I don't intend playing a mage. It makes exploring underground 100 x easier and holds ground until I can make my build.
Usually my go to weapon as a mage is the Diamond staff, pretty easy to get since diamonds tend to spawn a lot in ice caverns and Platinum with crates or mined lol
Can you make a vid about the beekeeper it's tbh so underrated and makes farming queen bee for beenades and the beesknees so easy
Don't forget that the Thorn Chakram also inflicts poison.
I always knew i was ready to demolish eye of Cthulhu when i find one of these
New weapon discovered
I've never seen or heard about those before, like, NEVER
The zapper is one of those weapons you think is modded (since modded actually incentivizes you to go to the desert) until it shows up 30 hours past its tier
I currently am playing mage with my brother who plays ranger
Had Storm Zapper whole playtrough until got the first magic staff from Dungeon so yea this is pretty good
Ruby staff would work equally aswell as the emerald staff cause it’s really good piercing so they would be In similar terms of Dps
My friend once gave me a thunder zapper while we were in early hardmode, we both didn't know how did he get it but it was so good that i legitematly thought that it was a hardmode weapon and i kept using it. (sorry for bad english)
Storm spear was invaluable in our spear run
I usually rush the underground desert or jungle only for some of this weapons
Im the type of terraria player to plunge within the hard biomes, kick butt, and get the really decent loot first, usually the desert. I find the challenge of the biome worth it for that zapper staff, as well as the conch and dune rider boots.
They are good weapons that i like to use when i find them early, but overall, crafting a bed and rushing the jungle is a 100% superior stategy. The weapons, accessories and armour you can get there will easily carry you through most of prehardmode on any difficulty, and you're going to spend the same amount of time as in desert but won't have to rely on RNG so much. The only downside ist that on higher difficulties you're gonna be stuck in purgatory of unkillable man-eaters that do 200 damage, but they're just a little worse than sandworms.
And here we have one of few reasons why modders make Desert Bosses Pre-Evil Boss, despite being an awful biome early game.
My guy. I actually had no idea you were saying “thunder zapper” the ENTIRE video.
Deadass thought it was the funder zapper
I did not know either of those weapons existed, or that houses/chests spawn in the underground desert.
However good they may be, you're not making me go the underground desert for anything
i wanted to give zapper a try in my mage run but once i saw that i need to fish or go to UNDERGROUND desert i just went for diamond staff
Can you talk about the raven staff such a underrated weapon
I'd use these weapons more if the odds in the chest wasnt rigged to just always be a snake charmer flute or maybe a desert conch if you're lucky
with the 2 weapons, dunerider boots and ancient chisel just not existing.
The storm spear carried my get fixed boi preboss stage
I thought the thunder zapper was a calamity weapon I found it and it carried me for a bit
Thunder spears projectiles spawns near the tip of the spear letting you shoot through walls
I find the term "early-hardmode" a bit confusing in this video. I think he meant pre-hardmode.
From my understanding;
Pre-hardmode: Before killing Wall of Flesh
Early-hardmode: Right after killing Wall of Flesh
Used Thunder Zapper in my mage playthrough, it carried me to pre-WoF, the only bad thing was that I found it in literally the last chest of the whole underground dessert🤡
the only issue is braving the underground desert (absolute hell) to get them off a chest drop chance
Question:
Is it a mod that you use to have a rapid amount of projectiles at the end of every video? If so what is it called?
The plan used to be “get the waterbolt” then “kill the wall”
0:18 Damn, can't get em till hardmode I guess.
The early game power creep is far greater than at any other point in the game.
Me when I navigate the hardest early game biome to get a worse weapon than the starfury
I actually managed to beat Skeletron with the thunder zapper. It wasn't exactly easy, but i did it in expert mode.
Starshooter on top
No FR tho!! I just started a getfixedboi legendary world with a new character on mobile, and these weapons have been a godsend. Thank GOD I found them early, it's probably the only reason I'm able to tolerate the run so far tbh.
Although these weapons are good, the ruby/diamond staff are easier to get and deal more damage, and you can get a The Rotted Fork as soon as you start the game.
what world difficulty do you test these weapons on
nvm
Me who just started a terraria infernum run must say... Yes they are insanely good early game till you get real weapons.
I used it for my first playthrough, I found it while fishing
"two early HARDMODE desert themed weapons"
Thunder Zapper for bosses, Storm Spear for enemies imo, zapper seems more reliable
Thunder Zapper used to be absolute garbage before 1.4.4, it's now one of my favorite early-game mage weapons.
someone should do a video on the worst terraria seed (in terms of loot spawns, terrain gen, and some other 3rd metric)
Lmao, i got a unskipable Terraria ad 💀
Worth it 🗿
Storm Spear! spear....
Wait a sec . . . what's the weapon getting spammed on the right at the end? that doesn't look like the Storm Spear.
Didn’t knew they existed lol
I don't know at this point where you find all these weapons. I'm starting to think you go to the depths of the wiki for these.
*diamond staff* “am I a joke to you”
so any tips for hardcore player?
Well i can freely say, its impossible to get them that early since underground desert is hell. Just go jungle and get spores lol :3
0:18 These things would be useless by early hardmode.
first of all i like your content you make:d but i have a question your builds is it on expert or master xd:P. also do you think master is worth it or just expert becaus clasic for me is getting kinda boring xd
Classic is like the baby mode, in my opinion should only be played once as the first playthrough. Of course try harder difficulties once you become comfortable with it.
Also, expert adds so much more great accesories (+1 accesory slot) and higher drop chances of every item from mobs.
