I actually use the snake charmer's flute a lot. It's very useful to reach sky islands, since you can use it, climb to the top, place a block or two off of it, and repeat
Fishing bobbers actually increase your fishing power by 10 They also can be used as a early game light source if you're lucky (even though it doesn't make much sense to use)
What's weird about fighting a giant eldritch cthulhu creature, Lord of the Moon himself, and defeating it by shooting him to death with gun you made out of fragments of the celestial pillar that came from the space along with 3 different pillars after you brutally murdered the cultists that were trying to prevent this from happening, and firing bullets capable of homing onto their targets, forged out of rare plant mineral thing you found down in the depths of wild jungles filled with huge creatures that want to kill you and mined it with a pickaxe forged out of remains (?) and souls of 4 massive robots that shoot lasers and flames at you, trying to kill you too, made a long time ago by a woman trapped deep in the darkness of an ancient dungeon filled with traps and skeletons, ghosts and other creatures armed with magic, medieval weapons and guns, to rebuild the body of (basically) cthulhu himself, while wearing a silly sunflower costume painted to be reflecting, also wearing flippers painted with dye that absorbs almost all the light that hits it with no actual effect and carrying 3 colorful balloons around?
I’ve been using the snake flute in current mage play-through And I didn’t think I would be using as much as I am right now. It’s quite useful for things like building, acting as a sort of scaffolding
The only use for the snake charmers flute is to kill your friends, you just tel them there’s something at the top and move it and they die dropping all their coins
I got a habbit of having the guide around my crafting area, so I can check recipes with it. Learn a lot of new 1.4.4 recipes with it, like the venom trap. The most usefull got to be the snake flute, mostly by the place in progression, but most of the time I get the glowing fishing bobber, not the moss ones.
Knew about marshmallow on a stick when looking into vendors and happiness, more notably the biomes to unlock their full stock. I have actually used the snake charmer's flute. It is amazing pre-hardmode for generalized movement, and does still outclass hooks in sheer vertical travel speed. Climbing the hellavator? Ropes are much faster than constantly reaiming a hook, and the flute is a great way to overcome that limitation for shorter shafts or temporarily replacing rope burned in the process of making the hellavator. Equally, it can also be used in much tighter spaces than the hook, and can be easier to aim. Trying to get through a horizontal gap of 2 tiles above your jump height? much easier to bring out the flute than to try and position yourself in such a plce where you can angle your hook into the gap. Axe of regrowth has replaced my use of axes all together once it was introduced. If i ever use any other axe outside of the grind to get it, i only use hamaxes because i find hammers way too niche to carry around with me. What do i use hammers for? Hoiking into the jungle temple early, setting up a skyrail, or building npc houses, all of which are very specific projects where i would want to carry a hammer, not things i just stumble into as i explore. Altars are the only exception, but that hammer isnt crafted and i can go for the altars immediately upon receiving it. Outside of hammers, the only other consideration would be leveling terrain while not wasting acorns, but i am usually just fine wasting the acorn instead of carrying a separate axe for that singular purpose, if i dont just use the drax or picksaw instead. The others that i DID know about i never bothered going after. Glow bobber? paint scrapers are even more niche than hammers, and i have never gotten the bobber itself from the fisherman. Hand of creation? too many components i have to go out of my way for that i practically never use. If i can accumulate all of them naturally, maybe. Artisan loaf? Skeleton merchants are already "rare", then it needs to align with a certain moon phase? If i see it, i get it, but i dont go out of my way to farm it.
The Venom Dart trap is so good for AFK farms, even with the Jungle Temple's traps, the fact that this trap inflicts the Acid Venom debuff makes it so worth it.
The glowing bobber is actually nice when fishing in caves or at night just for the convenience of seeing it clearly. Its hard to see visual notifiers from the bobber if its in a dim area or just away from a lightsource, which is important when you want to know if theres a bite.
I use the charmers flute for helping to fill in the bottom half of my cavern mimic/food farms with back wall (to control mob spawning) when making underground volcano traps, without leaving a bunch of rope unsightly strung around.
It makes sense for the ice rod to not be on this list considering how useful it is. Clearly not just a strange midly useful item. It will always have a place on my hotbar in all aerial combat.
The snake charmers flute is one of my most used items since I decided to fill my entire world with floating platform bridges so I use it to space them evenly and give them a starting point. made it so you can cross my entire main world with early hardmode wings without ever touching the surface. Useless but fun!
Thank you I'm working on a 100% Journey character and forgot about the marshmallow. I only need to find 1% crimson to have all the steam achievements. I've resorted to making tunnels 2 blocks wide hopefully I can find it tomorrow. Still need 60% of the gold critters. Have most everything else now. Just some event banners and that's about it. 200+hours hopefully It won't take that long for the rest of it.

I've personally used the snake charmer's flute a bit, though this is only when I get it prior to the Goblin Tinkerer. It's really convenient for caving when you don't have the best accessories for vertical traversal.
The Marsh mellow used to be a pretty decent food source early game back before 1.4 when all food sources gave the same buff, and npc happiness didn't matter.
I love the snake flute. its a great item. I tend to go to the underground dessert pretty early on and I try to explore it a lot. the +5 defence statue is great, and the anchient chiesel is also very good. also I love mining loads of fossils to extractenate for lots of ores and gems. The snake flute is very overlooked but pretty cool to have and its pretty handy...
As someone that goes hunting for the Zapper during every early mage play trough, the snake charmer flute is a godsend when I manage to get it. Specially wen I don't come across enough gems for a gem hook early on and would have to rely on hook drops from skeletons, which are not good. The flute is a good alternative to use instead.
the venom trap is really good, i used it on the upside down seed to make farms (as enemies don't take lava damage) also man i never remember the fishing bobbers i don't like the globe items though, feels too modded
glowing bobber is great, I use it on my fishing setup as it helps you see bobber in dark, now I dont remember if fishing bonus it stacks with normal bobber, of those items shown, best one for me, most useful as it cant be really replaced by anything to my knowledge to have same effect and is easy to get, if you do fishing... if not, you dont need it even snake flute is great but I always got it after claws or climbing boots, so I never really needed it that dart trap I havent even knew is in a game, how it compares to jungle temple traps? marsmallow I never used, but I assume it is really nice item for RPs or such, which I sadly never tried in terraria those orbs I never used but when you get world and ugly moon or something, it is fine, I guess
I've used 2 of the 5 in the thumbnail, the snake charmer's flute is great for getting up to sky islands and the marshmallow I roasted on a campfire in the snow by accident
