    I have RacePak pressure sensors before and after the regulator. I added a coupler to the regulator so I can add a gauge when I need it then remove it

      Sounds high tech! I like it. Problem with the gauge is trying to stop staring at it

    That makes a lot of sense, I'm currently building a performance oriented SBC 350 with my dad and I will definitely keep that in mind when we get it built, I really don't want gas filled oil when running at high rpms. Thanks for the useful info, It'll hopefully save me a lot of money in the future

      You're welcome. It's cheap insurance for sure. Enjoy building your engine with you dad, my dad helped me build the one in the video 25 years ago. Thanks for commenting

    Ya you should....not to mention some carbs like different pressure to run. Great vid

    Interested to know why most American stuff still runs mechanical fuel pumps ? Thanks 👍

      Most American stuff roughly early to mid 80s and older do. Newer vehicles likely have electronic fuel pumps and nobody likes dropping a tank to replace a pump when it can be removed off the side of the block as in a SBC

      Hey Donald, they don't. These 60 year old cars do, and they're stone reliable and simple.

      @@gmc-roots-blown273 Hi yes thanks, fitted a electric fuel pump in the trunk of a mustang, struggling for clearance with a double timing chain, pump or the oil thrower had to go, but have been stranded several times in old British cars by SU electric fuel pumps so you certainly have a point 👍

      @@donaldhill2775 What a coincidence, my prior car was an MG Midget that the electric pump failed several times(a Holley, and two electric "clicker" pumps. Originally had the SU electric) and I ended up with a mechanical pump and never had to call for help again. Had vapor lock issues until solid mounting the fan but smooth sailing afterwards. Altitude density exceeds 8000 feet here in June

      @@gmc-roots-blown273 I used to love old MG’s, the midget must have been an interesting ride in America, had a BGT for years as a daily driver and still regret selling, I’d buy it back tomorrow 👍

    Well I guess your way if that's what you want or need. My apologies for being different, but I run my fuel from the tank, to the Mechanical Pump, in one side of the Carb and out the other side, to an adjustable on/off ball valve, back to the tank. No need for fuel pressure regulator. Never needed to know fuel pressure. Valve must be on the return side coming out of the Carb. Start with the valve closed. Trial and Error, open it little by little until Carb stops flooding- look for the sweet spot. Makes a perfect flow adjustment at all RPM's on NA or Blower motors.

      I like your return inline valve as you can shut it off at will. Best of both worlds: shut it off and see if your pump/needle/seat are leaking. I watch my fuel pressure because low psi and a blower equals bad real fast.

      @@gmc-roots-blown273 Nothing is leaking. And I see what you mean. you have convinced me of the need for a Fuel Pressure Gauge. I could run one up to the outside Hood Cowl just below my windshield.

      That's a great idea. The gauge provides so much info I don't have to guess anymore if the pressure is to blame. Thanks for commenting!

    Beautiful blower! Say, where do you get one of those throttle cables and brackets?

    • @gmc-roots-blown273
      @gmc-roots-blown273  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks brother! The bracket and cables are Lokar, you can get them at Summit, Ebay, etc. The throttle cable is a factory style Mopar with its carb end cut off and the Lokar cable end installed. Works awesome

    Some young mechanics were proud 😊 that they immediately knew what a carburetor is... then they got confused ?😕? when you said, "...needle and seat..." Hint: NOT a sewing technique.
