They always go for that "Valley Girl" lol! Haven't heard a real Valley Girl in over 20 years. We don't say The Market. We say The Stores.
Where in America are you from where you call the stalls of a marketplace the stores?

I’m from Pennsylvania.
“Stalls of a market” would mean, maybe, an individual vendor at like a weekly “hipster farmer’s market”, or maybe one of those co-op style antique store. For regular groceries, clothing, general items like small furniture, electronics, etc. it’s “I’m going to the store.”
I think maybe I phrased my question strangely. But the point was that she says “the market” because this was filmed at Covent Garden which is famous for its market (the hipster stall kind). Of course Covent Garden has stores (shops in British English) too, for example there is an Apple Store there, but I’m not sure how you differentiate between them if you’re calling both things stores. Are you really saying “the stores” is equivalent to “the market” and different to going to “the store”? @bluerazz

I am American and I love it. We have so many different accents in America. New York, Boston, southern, midwestern, valley girl, etc. I could listen to British people all day.

Everybody was SO polite!! And those ladies are the best!!! The "celeb" guy did a very good American accent. It seems all of the girls were doing a southern California accent. Thanks, Hollywood!! LOL!!!

One time, I had to call London for business. Got up at 3 am my time. Couldn’t really understand her. Finally, she says exasperated - I have no idea what your saying because of your accent. Lol. I laughed so hard. I thought she had the accent but it was me with my American accent. Lol

@Boris Notbadenov2 You're right, mostly the lady was speaking in her own British accent, but she actually did a really good job of capturing a funny reaction and mimicing the accent, surprise and tone of what a southern (south east USA) rural woman said to her. It was the pitch, the cadence, the words and the elongated tones... you could really hear the woman she was mimicing.
As a Philly girl, it was a hoot to see you talking to the Philly guys. 🤣 Plus, Philly has the best East Coast accent - wooder, cawfee, tawk, dawg, and more. Lia, you and Joel have to come to Philadelphia. Spring/summer is the best time of year to visit.

I always love these types of videos.
As an American, I find it funny that British people seem to think we say “oh my god” all the time. Girls usually tend to do the Valley Girl accent and guys tend to do gangster accents. They often speak about surfing, shoes or cheeseburgers.
For the record, I’m terrible at doing accents so I give them props for trying! Accents are hard!😁

Oh Lia-these are the best! Please keep doing these! I love that you never know how people will respond. Some of these people I was quite amazed how on point they were with their accents-especially Philadelphia man, ha,ha! BTW-if you ever meet anyone from Philadelphia again, you MUST ask them what diner or restaurant has the best Philly cheese steak sandwich. Philadelphia is known for their cheese steak sandwiches, and everyone has their favorite spot.

The Brits grow up watching exponentially more American T.V., movies etc.. than Americans do British. It is a matter of exposure.

Ha ha I love it ! You guys did great! Definitely so many accents in the US. I’m from Pennsylvania and I’m Latina so I’m sure I have some sort of accent that I don’t even notice. I actually love English accents, you guys always sound so nice and proper.
This was so funny and entertaining! A few were spot on! Before I even clicked this video, I knew the #1 American accent they'll attempt to do is the Valley Girl/SoCal accent. Never fails! And then the NY/NJ accent, then the southern/TX accent. It's all in good fun! We all know not all Americans sound like that. But it's funny regardless. I know I can't do any UK accent to save my life!

This video should be called "Do you best NYC or Valley Girl accent". I suppose it's the more entertaining American accents that resonate with the British?
Actually, I think the southern accent would be the most comical because even in America it has been used for comedic effect in so many classic shows and unfortunately used kind of in a negative way, I was surprised that none of the British people attempted that easy kind of stereotypical cartoon version of a Southern accent that we see in here in so many movies and TV shows. From Gomer Pyle to the Clampetts to Petticoat Junction, not to mention Andy Griffith they have ingrained a type of accent over the last half-century or so in Hollywood that doesn't really reflect the true South.
It's what they hear on movies and tv.

What they thought what an American would say as opposed to how they said them is what i thought was most hilarious, "have a great day everything is awesome love your shoes!" Their accents were all great tho - and that sweet lady nailed it on the head, you got it in you, that was great 💙👍

Very cute! The “valley girl” accent is probably the easiest. The “oh my gawd!” When I was a teenager i lived in Huntington Beach, California and we talked in that accent as a joke the most. Most popular phrase was “oh-my-gawd! Gag me with a spoon!” (Sounds like the one who imitated “Mean Girls.”)

English is my second language and I can speak with a pure southern accent, one day I was talking to this guy he was from Ireland when I told him I'm from Algeria he lost his mind.

I was just in London and I asked a few people that we got to talking there. I could not imagine our accent was hard and it was for them! It was cute, I however cannot do an English accent for more than 3 sentences
