I asked British people in Covent Garden, London what stereotypes they have of American people. This is what they said!
Let me know in the comments whether you think these stereotypes are true or false! I'd love to know your opinion if you are British or American (or from anywhere really). Also please let me know what you'd like to me to ask people next time! I love doing street interviews.
Everyone in this video gave me permission to use this footage and these are their views and opinions, not mine.

In my travels across the US I discovered it's very difficult to make a stereotype about 'Americans' as a whole and be accurate, because they are all so varied, even back home in UK it made me realise how different we are ourselves regionally.

Dude I was born in Puerto Rico and I had so many stereotypes of Americans and when I actually moved there-they were actually nice and kind, (some were assholes of course especially with the facts that I didn’t know much English at the time) but other than that I was actually pleased, I’m still living here and currently in Florida

Haha thanks! I'm nothing like a New Yorker or a Californian, lol or a Texan. It's so crazy how individual we are. 328+million Americans. One thing we don't care for is being grouped together as a whole and being labeled as the same.

How true. After living in the US for 50 years, I'm even surprised at the wide diversity of thought and lifestyle as I travel throughout the different states. It's extremely rare to find someone who has been to all 50 states. There's so much to explore, like the diversity of landscapes and animals.

I lived in the UK for a year while I was in college. I found Europeans to have very negative stereotypes about Americans. They would say we're stupid, fat, and all we eat is McDonald's. This is very offensive especially when they say it to your face or around you and they think it's funny and ok. It's not ok! We're not stupid, I don't eat fast food and I'm not fat and I'm sure many of Americans can relate. Yet I never saw Americans students say anything bad about Europeans. It was like they were trying to put us down or make us feel inferior. It was very upsetting all the negative remarks British people made. Yet when I lived in Spain, I never heard Spanish people have anything negative to say about us. They liked our culture, food, music etc. I't was a completely different experience.

Well put. I am trying not to be offended...and failing. No one that I know is seriously overweight, or even as heavy as the people who were interviewed. And I am not in my 20's or even 30's! And to top it off, we are all in high stress jobs or situations (stress hormones increase body fat), and "foodies " who love gourmet meals with our friends. All of us are Visibly smaller than the people who were interviewed.

As an American, I'm not offended by the stereotypes. I've heard them all before, except that we're all stupid. That's a new one! Depends on the day. I spent time in England and was constantly reminded how I'm nothing like the stereotypical American, seeing as I'm fairly thin and quiet. Trust me, there's many people like me in America, we just blend in too much, I guess :)

I was on holidays in the UK. For some reason people kept coming up to me to ask directions, especially in London. They got a shock when I started speaking and heard that I’m a Yank. I don’t know if it’s because of my looks or the way I conduct myself. It might be a combination. Much of my family is from the UK, and therefore may have been brought up in some of the customs.

He ruined lives, perpetuated hate crimes, incited an insurrection where people died, stacked the Supreme Court with a conservative majority, had like 20+ sexual assault allegations against him, etc. I swear Europeans think he’s just some funny gimmick. Like, no, this isn’t funny. His political presence in America was a tragedy that affected low income and minority communities in America the most. I was afraid of being attacked on the street during the pandemic because of the “China virus” rhetoric he spread. Most Americans didn’t ask for Trump and they suffered when they got him anyway. Considering British democracy also is kind of a mess, I’d expect better from them.

I found the people I met to be very loyal. I corresponded with a lady who took me under her wing for about 40 years and I was able to go back to England to visit her after 40 years! We were older but we reconnected with love. But for the record, it is impossible to give an accurate sterotype of Americans, we are just so diverse in our backgrounds.
