- Why have I never done this before?
Though helping a friend we came up with a simple idea to get your fermented bowl started using your chuck. Now I'm not saying that I am the one that came up with this idea, it just came to my head while helping out a friend. So naturally I want to share it with you!
I hope this helps and if you like or want to see some more tips and tricks with turning, make sure to let me know in the comments.

Just recently found you, loving the channel so far! Its nice to find others turners :)
Awesome! So glad to have you, hopefully I can keep you entertained. 🤘🏽
Thanks for this. I've not done much turning larger than pens/stoppers, and want to get into bowls/vases, so these tips are very helpful!
Oh fun! I’ve never turned a pen but it looks like a ton of fun! Maybe I’ll get to do it this year. Bowls and vases are SO fun, hopefully I can inspire you to get into it this year.
@@madiradesign i just got your wedgie sled 2 days ago, so I think the inspiration has already started! :D
@@JoeRadose oh awesome! Can’t wait to see what you make with it!
What i do is mount the base with a mortise and then using cole jaws glue each ring on one at a time. After i glue on a ring i rough turn the inside round if it’s going to be a vase; if a bowl where i can still get to the inside of the lowest ring than i will turn the inside after the outside is complete. Seems easier than this method to me. Thanks. I also use your sled. Works great.
Oh yeah! I like that idea as well. I guess it’s whatever works for you right? Glad you like the sled.
Nice bowl this week. Thanks!
I just use a glue block for the bottom of my segmented bowls.
Yeah! Thats what I use to do. Glue the back to a sacrificial block and turn off of that. This should make things a lot easier!
@@madiradesign but for a small bowl that can definitely work. I probably would have dropped into routine instead of flipping the bowl. Thanks again!
a saw eliminates the concern about the corners--quick pass on a band saw and its much safer
Yes. I totally agree.
