    I had to come back and comment. Wife and I were in FL last week and she thought I was crazy when I said 'holy crap this is the brightline tunnel!' as we went through this section. I randomly had come across your videos of this tunnel going in last month, and watched the series. I had to explain to her what they did for the tunnel, etc, and what the brightline was. So, thank you for your videos, you helped me explain to my wife what all the construction was for, and gave us something to talk about towards the end of our 19 hr drive before hitting up Rusty's oysters to look at a SpaceX droneship and falcon 9.

    Documentation of this project, such as yours, will be just as, or more, fascinating in the future as the present as there aren't that many instances of major new rail line construction in our lifetime.

    I drove by there this morning (Saturday March 27th) and it was still very much at the same status as the end of your video.

    Excellent update, great flying! I like how you 'flew" through the number 9 and 10. Cool affect! Thanks for the update.

    Great video series! Not sure where you're headed education-wise but this would be great thing to list on your application when applying for Civil Engineering or Cinematography school. Give yourself a pat on the back & give your driver a high five for me.

    These tunnel update videos are fantastic! Everything from your drone footage, commentary, graphics, and music is on point! (Btw, where are you getting your music?) This process of moving a huge box beneath active traffic is fascinating. It's so complex I almost wonder why they didn't just build regular highway bridges, one direction at a time.
    Regardless, thank you for your updates!

      The music is from the TH-cam creators audio library. The reason they did it this way is because they could install it in just over 2 weeks. A typical bridge would have taken a year to install and disrupted traffic the whole time.

    The black sealer is probably to prevent water from seeping through the concrete roof ?

    • @RoamingRailfan
      @RoamingRailfan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would make sense but it wasn’t on the roofs of the other tunnel segments...

      @@RoamingRailfan That segment will probably not be under the roadway and more likely to feel the effects of rain.

      @@RoamingRailfan It also is the last segment to get installed, so it may be advantageous to install the sealant now. Whereas for the two other segments, they'll not only be getting pushed through the anti-drag system, which may still damage the sealant with the loads above, but then they'll be pushed clear of it. I imagine we'll see them put sealant above the first two sections once the structure is in its final position and before laying down the final subgrade of the new road.
      Even though asphalt isn't permeable, the subgrade below it will still allow some water to pass through, which will permeate the tunnel structure if it's not properly sealed.

    Does that metal attached to the blue frame stay there once complete or do they dig it up after.

    • @Roboboy
      @Roboboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They'll likely disassemble it afterward and actually need to remove the full anti-drag plate system under the eastbound lane to install a permanent subgrade that's designed *not* to slip. With the region's rainfall volumes, I'd imagine you'd want to avoid a roadway subgrade that can shift and is susceptible to washout.

    Black coating is most likely water proofing.

    Will you be doing a time-lapse version that shows the work as it progressed over the last few weeks?
