I promise, we are still working on the addition, we have been super busy but were full steam ahead, installing the wall insulation and preparing for the ceiling insulation by installing the strapping, which also brings our stud length down to 16 inches instead of 24 inches. It will also be way easier when hanging drywall.

Just bought a 170 year old house on the south shore of Long Island, it’s tiny in comparison to new construction. Only 1100 square feet. We have been thinking of an add on. I think I can handle this. These addition videos are amazing? Thank you. Looking forward to more.

Curious why you didn't use 2x4's and 2" foam the outside vs using the 2x6? R13/R15 plus foam would've been significantly better I would think. 2x6 also seems a little overkill for a 14' x 14' addition. Am I missing something?

We are in New England, 2x4 is pretty much non existent unless you're in a mobile home.

@@BreakFreeHomestead I’m in Massachusetts and we still are using 2x4 especially with the prices of lumber nowadays.

I was watching, you went from installing floors to this video??? Where was the rest of the kitchen videos? Cabinets, countertops, sink, oven????

I have a playlist for the kitchen itself but I haven't posted the cabinet video yet. Countertops were templated and installed by a granite company so there is no video of that.

What size of wood are you using for the straps? 1x4 1x3?

    • @BreakFreeHomestead

I believe this was 1x3 either or is fine if you want more wiggle room.

What are the strapping boards? 1 x 3?
