I had a space grey M1 Pro 16” MacBook Pro with 32GB of ram which I got as an amazing deal which was blazing fast. However I used it docked quite a lot and realised how evident the scuffs appear on the ports as the plugging and unplugging removed the anodised layer, I can’t imagine how bad that would be on space black. I had some chipping on the thunderbolt ports on my m1. Really at this price. That shouldn’t be an issue. I have noticed the ports are more rounded on the m3. Hopefully that will prevent the chipping. Time will tell!

Hi Alec, enjoyed the video. You'll enjoy that larger size. My journey is taking me in a completely different direction. Current have the M1 Max 16 10/24/32GB/2TB. Been using a M1 12.9 iPad for work and decided I wanted to go all Mac. Bought a M2 Air 13 and really like the form factor for on the go, but if I did any photo editing it struggled. It’s the best one I’ve ever owned. Hope you love yours equally. Always loved the computation density of the 14 inch form factor. Such a powerhouse.
I'd like to get an m3 max 14 inch, but 1 thing is stopping me, downgrading battery vs my m1 pro (max chips always use more battery). I really wish i could use low power mode for the 90% of time when i really do not need the extra cores. But then it is not possible to keep the 120hz display running. I really hope apple would make a low power mode only for CPUs and let the display work separately.
I’m sure there are battery tests. The max is still built on a 3nm process. So I’d assume you’d get some uplift. Also, I think the max chip is best suited on the 16 inch, because there are some throttling issues. That’s a win win for you, because the larger laptop has a larger battery as well. And for gaming, m3 pro starts to make a real impact. The performance is real, the xdr screen is gorgeous, sound etc. so people should upgrade depending on the budget.
Totally a worthwhile upgrade! I was mostly referencing the other pro chips - which the m2 pro is perfectly fine and people shouldn’t feel the need to upgrade. But remember, I did. The m2 air isn’t nearly as powerful. It is very efficient though. There’s great case for that upgrade. My most recent video goes into what makes the m3 pro so good and why it’s great for many users! You should check it out!
@@alec.js_ I agree in comparison with the m2 pro lineup.
You’re not forced to watch it 🙄
I bought the M2 15” 16/512 but after 10 days, the Xcode app had crashed twice from light task. I have only installed Xcode, OneNote and Playgrounds. Maybe the M2 i had was a defect but decided to go with the M3 Pro 14”. I really do miss the 15” but main reason i went for the m3 pro was because Best Buy has it on sale for $1,749 brand new.
I clicked like bc of your dog in the background. Oops. 🎉
I’ll tell him he got a like when I get home (I really will) I’m sure it will make him very happy. As a golden. He will gladly take any and all attention he can get, even if it’s digital.
Question. Your depth of field looks kinda fake. Is it from iPhone ? Or from a camera with lens ? Thanks.
Yeah. Drives me nuts looking at this now. In hindsight. The iPhone 15 pro max’s depth of field is pretty high (or low) in cinematic mode. I could have turned it down a bit to mitigate that. You can see the mic popping in and out. Can’t stand synthetic bokeh when it’s too strong. Also the face smoothing is excessive.
Good eye. It’s the 15 pro’s cinematic mode. Ive learned a lot more about videography since this one.
