I highly recommend trying Tunisian crochet with variegated yarn, for dishcloths. It mixes the colors up and they just shimmer and move in and out of each other, it's fun to make and fun to look at the finished product!
This may be odd, but of the crochet videos I've watched, you are the only one to hold the yarn in between your index finger and middle finger like I do. That's how my mom taught me, and my grandma taught her.
@@lareenzollinger9721 I haven't had a problem with that, but sometimes I feel my hand could cramp. I've tried the other way with the yarn draping over the top of my index finger, but I'm not used to it and I hook the yarn hanging down in the back, though it can relieve the cramping and allow you to keep crocheting. Surprisingly, I make my stitches too tight sometimes, so maybe the two techniques are not so much about tension as it is cramping lol. I don't know
So pretty...looks similar to the waffle stitch in regular crochet (which I love 😻). I do enjoy working Tunisian stitches, and can't wait to try this one...big, big, b-i-g plus is the no curl 😳. Thank you for the tutorial.🤗
Omgosh! This stitch is fabulous!it is easy, it is dense, and I love the back. But most of all, I love how the top row can be finished as is. No need to do the top slip stitch, unless you are adding a border, or are particular about a matching chain- I like the different top.
First, your work is beautiful & you are dearly appreciated for sharing these videos. Second, THANK YOU! I am pushin 52 years old & you have taught me somethin new. I will be using your help in making my 6'4" 255# husband a nap blanket for his recliner. He is an amazing man, husband, dad, friend & works near constantly...he deserves a comfy blanket. Again, thank you💕
I'm so excited to try this-- I've been keeping an eye out for my next tunisian crochet project, and this is it! Thank you for a clear, easy explanation!
Thank you! I'm new to Tunisian crochet and I've been looking for the stitch I want to make a warm cardigan. I think this is it! No curl and even the right side edge is perfect instead of stretched out looking like other stitches I've tried. I was getting really frustrated with the ride side edge thing. Thank you for keeping me from giving up on TC!
This is such a pretty stitch! Thank you for teaching us 🥰 I have just bought the pattern for the blanket skarf, but I am having a hard time switching betweeb the yarns. Do you have any tips for how to do it?
This is another way of Tunisian crochet compared to the one that I've done. I didn't realise there were different stitches🌞 "Mine" is a bit more simple, maybe especially if you're a beginner. You only get one vertical loop to work with. That's what I am used to, but this was interesting to watch and learn😊
Stunning blanket! Thank you for sharing. I would love to see you use the cable because I am busy trying to make a jersey for my 10 year old son and I tried to make one with 40 chains with a normal crochet hook😖
I really like this stitch but I’m wondering how you would decrease with this stitch to make triangles. I’m new to Tunisian crochet so any recommendations would be great
What a great stitch! Thank you. I wonder- would one be able to use it diagonally as in a C2C or dec & inc at the edges? So often we learn new stitches but including how to inc & dec r never included! This seems to be a sturdy stitch so I have visions of “going diagonal” but my mind is shy trying to do it… Be great if a precedent were set?! Please😊❤️J C in Australia
@ICanCrochetThat I'm using the color way chimera I don't consider it dark. But it is a bit darker than yours. I'm also using cheap wood hooks I got off Amazon. I think I need to invest in some metal ones. Cause the yarn isn't sliding over the hook smoothly
Hi Why is it so hard to do the first row in the back bumps. Chain row keeps getting too small to get the hook in. Using exactly same hook and yarn. HELP.
Could be the tension difference between the two of you. Try going up a hook size or two for your foundation chain, and then going back to the original hook for the body of your blanket. Hope this helps!
Hi Jessica! After you do your chain, turn it over and you'll see the little back bumps. You'll insert your hooks in those and not the chain. I have an up close picture of the back bumps in this post: icancrochetthat.com/tunisian-crochet-rainbow-blanket-pattern/
How do you get a bigger size? I don't understand, I'm sorry, but I have just started learning Tunisian crochet and I only have a 10 inch Tunisian crochet hook. I want to learn so bad.
This is a self-striping yarn, so all of the color changes are done for you. No need to figure anything out, which is one reason why I love this yarn! :)
Is this the same as the old afghan stitch? I never could get it to work on a regular crochet hook: the stitches at the beginning (right side)of the hook ended up really loose, while the stitches on the left side were too tight. I'd love to do a baby blanklet for my great-grandson in this stitch, but don't think I could get that many loops on one hook. Suggestions?
I have the same problem with the stitches, but I found a long crochet hook at Hobby Lobby that should be long enough to make a blanket for MY great-grandson. Or you could try to find a hook with the cable like the one she has. I don't know if that will solve the problem of the loose right-side, tight left-side stitch issue, but give it a try. BTW, the half double is my favorite stitch, so I'm eager to try this pattern.
115 chains. Here's the free pattern for you with all of the details: icancrochetthat.com/no-curl-tunisian-crochet-camping-blanket-pattern/ Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
Do you mean with what hook? You'll need a Tunisian crochet hook with a long cable attached. I go in depth here: icancrochetthat.com/best-tunisian-crochet-hooks/
I find it easier for me, if I'm going to go thru the back bumps. To use one size hook up from pattern hook. It's easier to thread the back side then. That's my helpful hint, hopefully. 😉
I'm just learning Tunisian Crochet but already love it. No curl! I love it!
I love Tunisian crochet. This stitch looks cool.😊
It really is! You've gotta try it. :)

I've actually heard this from so many people! I thought I held mine so weird but am finding out I'm not alone. :) Love it!
That's how I do it, too. Now I can't change. But don't really want to.
Isn’t it harder to keep even tension?
@@lareenzollinger9721 I haven't had a problem with that, but sometimes I feel my hand could cramp. This looks so fun and also beautiful. I’m going to try it the tunisian stitch and see how it goes!😅

I love this stitch. Working on the Quinn blanket right now.
It's become one of my favorite stitches. :) Happy crocheting!

Happy to have you here!

I love the Tunisian crochet. So pretty.

You won't regret it! Enjoy...
Would I be able to achieve a king of queen size blanket with that hook and the extension wire or would a longer wire be needed
Can you please show the back of the blanket as well, so I can see whether I'm doing it right or not. Thanks.
I’m a beginner I’m going to try this after I get my other stuff I’m making done but how do you change colors if you don’t have that kind of yarn
So to make the camp blanket we just add more stitches and how many stitches would be good..new at Tunisian and this is my favorite stitch so far

How many balls of yarn for the border please

How many stiches across and how many rows, what is the finished size

Hello, would like to make the blanket. How many yards/ ounces/skeins does it take? Thanks
It's all covered in the pattern on my site!

Just under 2400 yards. 3 weight. Of this brand.
You make this look soo easy. My mandala isn't showing the stitches as well as yours.
Hmmm I wonder why. Are you using a darker colorway maybe?
@ICanCrochetThat I'm using the color way chimera

can I use ice cream big scoops for the blanket

You can just go into the the chain in the normal way going into the back loop is just. craze I go into the front chain it's works out fine
